  • I keep mine public just in case my buddies can spot a problem if I start complaining and don't know what's wrong.
  • I find them incredibly inspirational, especially when they show how they do it at home like on the A&E show Heavy. I kind of can't wait for that new Shedding For The Wedding show comes out next month!
  • Laughing Cow cheese wedges are my weakness lately. Pair it up with some celery sticks or cucumber slices and mmmm! Planters has a "South Beach" nut mix that is decently low in carbs and hey, nothing wrong with almonds, you know? Boiled eggs, pickles, string cheese, a mix of blueberries and strawberries, sugar free Jello…
  • Oh gosh, I know what you mean! My bestie and I were talking last week that ever since we've been amping up our workouts, we are ALWAYS hungry. I feel like I'm eating all day! I figure it will all balance out eventually.
  • I have a goal to try every machine at my gym at some point to see if I like it. :) We have the Precor CrossRamps that I didn't want to use because it looked like a "skinny girl" machine. But now it's one of my favorites! Try them all, it certainly can't hurt! :)
  • I do it the way I was taught in Body For Life, just modified since I'm not that strong right now. 12 reps at 10 lbs, 10 reps at 15, 8 at 20, 6 at 25, with a minute rest in between. When I get stronger, I'll up the weights.
  • Someone here said to think of the number MFP gives you as a target to at least hit as a bare minimum. I think it's good advice. :)
  • I let the machine tell me because the machine knows my weight, how fast I was going, what incline, what resistance level, etc.
  • I go by what the machine tells me since it knows my weight, how fast I was going, what level and incline, etc.
  • Are you following a low sugar or lower carb diet? That might help a great deal.
  • You could switch it up. Like for a week, cut out breads/pasta. Maybe limit your sugar a little more. And yes, be sure you're eating back at least half of your exercise calories. :) Our bodies are funny things. Just remember that you didn't put on all the weight overnight and it won't come off overnight - as much as I know…
  • I feel like this too! Now that I don't eat sugar or pasta/bread type items, I'm constantly eating to get the calories up. It's really kind of crazy how the type of calorie you're eating makes a big difference in how much you CAN eat!
  • You'll fill up more on things that have protein, but you probably know that. Most cereal [at least the good snacking kind!] is just air. Try a couple of boiled eggs, or some sliced turkey, or some cheese. Crunchy veggies like celery and cucumbers will make your mouth feel like it's doing more and will be satisfying.…
  • Bags of frozen vegetables have been my godsends because often they are inexpensive [when compared to fresh, of course] but they are still just as good. If you have a grocery store that has a deli and you're able, start stalking the deli around 8 or 9pm. Sometimes they mark down things like rotisserie chickens that were…
  • It's hard because I know I assume that if someone has their diary open, they want people to view it to help them out. But I get so antsy when I see my MFP buddies using up their calories on things like soda and fast food rather than veggies and protein. They stay at their calorie goals usually, but it just looks like…
  • Welcome to MFP! I have a LOT of weight to lose as well, but I figure as long as I can still walk, gastric bypass isn't an option. You'll find a ton of support and good advice here. Good luck on your journey!
  • Put some cinnamon and vanilla extract in the mix. I do that with all my cake mixes anyway, just because if you're using a store bought cake mix, sometimes it needs that added oomph. Or you could even use pumpkin pie spice.
  • I call shenannigans on this one. People are getting fatter with the more sedentary lifestyles that they lead. Believe me, my mom had no problems helping me put on weight back before there were Walmarts in our area and we only shopped at local grocery stores.
  • I'd be interested to know this too. My net calories have been pretty low, and I'm starting to feel like I can't push hard at the gym.
  • There's a chance you may never be a 0 or a 1. Your body may not let you. My best friend was about 110 pounds and 5'7 when she was 15, and she never got smaller than a size 6. Remember that curves are beautiful and being healthy is powerful. :)
  • Oh thank you for posting this! I had forgotten what day it was on. I missed it, but they show it again in 20 minutes so I set the DVR. :)
  • More meat usually, or avocado. But all I want these days is meat!!
  • The Applebees 550 menu is awesome and they're totally willing to work with you to substitute things. Chili's has a "Guiltless Grill" or something like that, too. Almost any place will definitely make changes to food if you need it - you just have to ask! :)
  • Welcome to MFP! This place is awesome, and I don't know what I'd do without my buddies being so supportive. Good luck on your journey! :)
  • Hard workout at the gym today to make up for my cheat day yesterday. Felt good at the time, but man, am I TOTALLY feeling it now! Sunday: 3500 - 785 = 2715 to go
  • Oh I like the exercise challenge! I'm totally in.
  • I like a lot of mashups. DJ Maxentropy has one called "I Can't Push It" that is fab and makes me push through the hard spots of my workout.
  • Welcome to MFP! This place is great, and the people are so supportive and encouraging! I don't think I'd be doing half as well without my buddies here! Feel free to send me a friends request if you'd like. Good luck!
  • You must go to an LA Fitness, because that's exactly what happened to me. Don't let it get to you. They are there for business. You are there for your health. Don't let it push you away. The gym is an awesome place once you get used to it and forget the trainers. :)
  • Hi everyone! The best day was earlier this week when I realized "Omg, I only have 199 pounds to lose and not over 200!!" I definitely know about long hauls! LOL I started at 360 and on Thursday I weighed in at 349. When I get to 340, I'm getting a pedicure! :-D Good luck to everyone!!! Edited to add: Oh, and my goal is…
