If I was doing major yard work (back when I had a yard) I would probably count it. Housecleaning I can't think of anything I do that is taxing enough to warrant me logging it. But I do have a Fitbit which adjusts for all my activity so I guess if I was lightly active while picking up around the house the fitbit would…

I'm alone here in saying to walk after I guess but that is what I prefer. I like to eat then walk it off a bit. When I worked in Oakland there was a fab yoga studio down the street that had drop in lunchtime yoga and I absolutely loved going and doing that. It was only a block or two away and the classes were donation…

I fall somewhere in between. I have a few recipes I will make but the rest of the time I usually wing it. But I shop and cook for myself so that makes a huge difference. For you I like the idea of having a basic plan but allowing yourself to deviate from it occasionally. And try to incorporate more fresh foods if possible…

I got a FitBit at the beginning of April and I totally LOVE it! You do not have to sync it to your phone, you can sync it to your home computer. It doesn't work with my phone but I still love the Fitbit. It encourages me to be more active. Since I got it my activity level has definitely increased and I started losing again…

You are caught in a classic Catch 22 but I agree with the other posters that you don't need your husband in order to lose weight. Maybe you can take a foster dog out for a walk instead? It doesn't have to be a long walk but maybe if you fit in a couple of short walks throughout the day you would feel a lot better? The…

I'm going to try this one too! Sounds delicious!

I've never heard of this but I'm going to try it!

I feel the same way about my bananas! OATMEAL Lately I've been using my bananas in oatmeal, here is the recipe: http://ohsheglows.com/2011/09/20/make-ahead-steel-cut-oatmeal-4-new-oatmeal-recipes/ Ingredients: 2 cups water 2 cups almond milk (or other non-dairy milk) 1 cup uncooked steel-cut oats 2 large bananas, mashed (1…

Yes, I have an open diary, take a look! My settings are sedentary and I do use a FitBit too. I've lost 18 pounds this year so far, that is in 16 weeks. I figure I am moderately active but that would be without eating calories back so I set to sedentary and eat them back instead.

I eat a ton of greens and veggies each day and don't have any problems. I think the issue is that you went from eating none to a ton. Like the other poster suggested try to ease into it to let your body get used to consuming to much fiber.

I also like Fat2Fit radio but I recently got a FitBit and I really like the calorie recommendations it makes for me. I was on a 3-4 week plateau and since I got my FitBit I started losing again. It's only been 2 weeks but I did lose 3.2 pounds in that time and I've been eating around 1800-2100 calories a day in that time…

Maybe this was already suggested... why don't you start bringing healthy treats with you and try pressuring the others to try some? Look, I brought a bog of oranges! Have one! Oh,come on, I know you want one ad they are good for you, too! It wouldn't hurt if you started paying closer attention to what you ate ... etc.…

What were you eating before you upped the calories? It sounds like you might have been eating way too low. I might go see a doctor if you aren't starting to feel better.

I usually just peel off the outer leaves and don't wash it but a rinse and a spin in the salad spinner wouldn't hurt ... I guess.

Lol I had this for dinner last night! I roasted beets . I made some caramelized onions on the stove top. When the onions were ready I added kale to the skillet. When the kale was done I served it up on a plate and added some slices roasted beets. I topped it with some balsamic glaze. It was super yummy, especially if you…

Jim's advice is really good. I also did a ton of internet research when I was looking for a bike. I ended up with an urban cruiser and got a basket for groceries, etc. I ride to the farmers market and have used it for commuting, too. We also take rides in general for fun and exercise. I did attend a bike safety class about…

P.S. I still log all my food and exercise here on MFP with the FitBit synced.

I was following my own goal before I got my FitBit recently. When I got it I decided to change my settings to sedentary and see how FitBit advises me to eat with it synced. The result after almost 2 weeks is I really like using the FitBit assigned calorie goal. I think it is more accurate than the range I was allowing…

I also think the quality of the food you are eating could be easily improved. I know that learning to cook might seem daunting on top of everything else but seriously, I think you could really benefit. As you can't learn to cook everything instantly while you are learning try to make things that are easy to make at home…

I agree with the test drive advice. I have a Giant Via and it was the first bike I test drove and I loved it. But I waited to tried a lot of other bikes before I made my final decision. My husband got an old Peugeot off of Craigslist and it has been great for him so if you are unsure you can always try to find a used bike…

Last night I make faux "ice cream" using one frozen banana, some ovaltine powder and a little almond milk all mixed up in the food processor. There are many ways to eat bananas, they are soooo good!

This is a good idea add an egg and you have homemade fried rice.

I make brown rice a lot of different ways, sometimes I use broth, but lately I've been cooking mine in a steamer and I always make extra. This last batch I made in order to make a recipe for Black Bean Sweet Potato Burgers which called for some cooked brown rice. (Here's the link http://lizdialto.com/veggieburgerrecipe the…

I'm so anal sometimes I would probably measure the difference in the oil before and after and count that amount. But that might be going overboard ...

I put black beans on my salad today with corn, brown rice and tomatoes over romaine. Yum! I also had a leftover black bean sweet potato burger for dinner. Soups, salads, bean dip (including humus), homemade veggie burgers, chili, so many options! And try lentils too, they rock!

I also think you should increase your exercise and then also increase the calories you are eating to be 20% over your BMR. Start with something like 2 20-30 minutes walks and see how that impacts your calories. If you get a little exercise you will feel better in general anyway and allow you to eat over your BMR.

If you are playing football that is fine but eating the skin, that doesn't sound too appetizing to me. But if you like it and it fits into your daily calories I guess it's as good as any other skin, like fish skin or chicken skin. It seems like it would be more delicious if it were crispy though... I'm already mostly…
