  • Amazing.. inspiring. Thanks for that share.
  • Granola... sweetened with raw honey.
  • "Do your best and forget the rest. " Someone I know says this on my TV.
  • Hey man, I have been juicing once a day for about 3 months now, and it has done wonders for me healthwise and keeping me under my calorie goals. I also did a fast to "kick off" my change in lifestyle and it's just my opinion that it helped me get acustom to drinking juice, and eating less calories. Perhaps shrinking my…

  • I carry a water bottle with anything over 3 miles. Beat the heat, beat the cramps with water. Anything over 6 miles camelback was with me. Works good for me. I have a Nike hand water bottle for those shorter runs... works great, also carried Mace for the dogs, have used it a couple times. Whoo! good luck.
  • Just realized this was from last year... sigh hardly anyone talks about BFFM anymore.
  • Yep. Just started using the site again (about 2 months ago) really motivated now and ready to kick the fat out, and feed the muscle. Started off dumb and lost about 3% of my lean mass, so I am reading the BFFM book again and eating.
  • This is why its important to measure your body fat not your weight.... In the end all that matters is how much body fat you lost.
  • I agree to some extent... I mean you can, if you are so genetically inclined... I would say for the general population, it would be exceedingly difficult. My goal, since reading BFFM, is to minimize LBM loss by adding strength training to my workouts. Also I create a calorie deficit by exercise, not by a huge reduction in…
  • ^^---This is my thoughts exactly. Don't weigh in more than once a week, you will create unneeded stress.
  • Here is his website plan that I think will work for me... though I am worried about that jump from 5 to 9 :-) http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51143/Marathon-Novice-Supreme-Training-Program Awesome... thanks.
  • I am looking into the Hal Hidgon plan actually... You are right, I like the recovery week idea. Thanks again!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I did find this one out there for free, but not sure it was good or what not. http://www.marathonrookie.com/half-marathon-training.html Let me know what you guys think of this plan.
  • Ask yourself.... is this a diet or is this a lifestyle change? If its a diet, you will discontinue it one day, and well the weight will come back. Can you survive the rest of your living life on a minimal calorie intake (of 1200 cals) really, come on? If your goal is to simply lose weight, starving your body will certainly…
  • To me, its not about the shoe... that's not what the OP is saying. It's about form. It's a good article and if you are in a rut with your running, this could be a positive change. I have honestly not even noticed my running form, but I have been running a while now and I think I will start paying attention. For me, I can't…
  • I use runkeeper on my mobile device. It's great as long as you can carry a mobile while you are running/walking (and have battery, service in the area). It also accepts HRM measurements at the end of the work out if you so wish. It bases calories on your weight and other factors (elevation climb (hills)). I like it. I add…
  • Hello, just read the first 7 chapters of the book. Love it, its already working great for me. (2nd week in) I still don't have evereything down yet though. Nice to meet you all.

  • Also, it depends on your stance sometimes. If you are touching a wall, or standing on one side unevenly. That sometimes can produce inconsistent results.
  • How wildly does it vary? I have had this happen on my health o meter, it would be off by about 2lbs after trying it several times. What worked for me was, I would wait a while, come back and try it again 3 times and get consistent results again. If I was desperate, try averaging the numbers.
  • My gym is outside :-) And no one uses it in Jan here ;-) Hehe
  • 16 oz of prune juice does the trick for me. Make sure you are near the toilet.
  • Ok, just wanted to put in my two cents. You should count it as sugar, it is what it is. However, sugar in fruit is the only sugar I would consume. After all, you need this natural sugar to sustain yourself. If you are really trying to lose weight, DO NOT put any white/refined sugar (high fructose corn syrup included) in…
  • I added you, I am looking for the same as well. Everyone is welcome to add me.
  • Ranch dressing is the worst, sucks because I love ranch! There are other good dressings out there. My favorite is balsamic vinaigrettes! Very tasty. 2Tbps = 90 cals, thats plenty to go around! http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-kraft-foods-balsamic-vinaigrette-dressing-i98929
  • Thanks all, totally agree, it worked for me, and I am sure if I can stick with it, it will work again. Sorry about your ankle, I had knee surgery in 2006. I know it is hard, but you can overcome. I have never been the same, but after some physical therapy, and years of healing I am able to run long distances again.
  • MFP sets 45 mins of biking 12-14 mph = 671. Freedieting the same exercise is 740. The one suggested by the poster has the same exercise at 770 or so. So I'd go with the lowest so ensure I am still under my cals for day.
  • http://www.freedieting.com/ This one is good as well. I used this long before mfp.
  • I track everything individually. Also I search google to make sure I spelled the food right. ;) hummus Not picking... I am a bad speller.
  • A full marathon takes 15-20 weeks to prepare for people who can run nonstop for 30 minutes. I would try a 5k first. Here is a plan for a Marathon (takes 17 weeks): http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_4/130.shtml I would seriously consider running a 5k first: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/index.shtml
