  • I love when people reply slightly too slow, lol.
  • Thanks, I am quite self-concious about my cranial-overpass
  • Just... dayum, hot and not afraid to show it
  • Sadly, I often find the opposite. Telling people you are trying to be healthy makes them feel guilty/jealous and they kinda want you to cheat or fail to make them feel better about their inactivity or unhealthy diet.
  • Eat apples as you quit the caffeine. It is a natural stimulant.
  • My parents were big on this and it's definitely affected me. Even trying to eat very consciously I still feel compelled to clean the plate. I don't 'blame' them as such, they grew up when food was much more scarce and couldn't help but pass that down. I don't have kids but I would definitely say you want to find a balance…

  • Sold the PS3 a few months back so had missed GTA Online a bit. Back at it now on PS4 and I love it. Also in DriveClub when it's working. If I feel like smashing stuff up and throwing controllers around I play Spelunky, lol Add me, (JackDusty) or on here
  • I need this. I'm up for some co-dependant *kitten*-kicking
  • I burn about that in my weekly badminton sessions but that's two hours of hard work. I don't think I could do that every day! Running or swimming are the best burners really but, again, it would be hard to do that every day. Good luck though, if you have the commitment and fitness to handle it, good on ya.
  • Ok, I won't pretend I fully understood all that but I did get the gist. I'll estimate at about 1/3 of what my HRM says and see how that goes then adjust as needed. I've been stuck at the same weight and body fat % for several months and I am just trying to find the reason. I'm strongly leaning towards the fact that I've…
  • Thanks, I read that other thread but it's what I already knew, HRMs aren't great for calculating the calorie burn. I think I'll try what you suggest candiceh3 and count no extra calories for now, see how it goes and then adjust gradually. They are only 1 hour sessions and my HRM says about 300-400 calories so,…
  • In the words of Alan Davies (comedian) "How is that (holding up a cashew) fattening? Honestly, you could eat that, pick your nose, and you'd weight less."
  • It's awesome. I was a fan from the kickstarter because they looked at what people want in a watch and made a smartwatch fit round that instead of the other way round. I can see it in full sunlight, swim in it, it's not too chunky and it only needs charging every 4-5 days. I have had it a couple of months and now I wouldn't…
  • Haha! To be fair, I don't think the time off was the problem as much as overdoing it once you got back. I tend to do the same thing if I have a couple of weeks off, almost like punishing myself for so much time off. Just be careful not to overdo it to the point of injury (I'm sure you don't need anyone to tell you that)
  • Generally, it's the dressing. The chicken is not usually cooked in a healthy way either but it's the dressing that's high in sugar and fat.
  • That "no such thing as bad food" is a terrible cliché. Honestly I understand the sentiment but look at something like Pot Noodle. It's devoid of anything like nutrition and what about the OP's 600 calorie pizza slice. I fail to see a single situation where that would be anything but 'bad food'. It's crazy high calories and…
  • pluckabee nailed it, I think. People that say "you don't look that big" are just trying to be polite and reassuring. They aren't BS-ing you. They probably think you don't look as overweight as you, perhaps, are. Personally, I would NEVER say to someone that they are fat unless they flat out ask me because some people are…
  • It does depend on your needs really. Do you do a lot of cardio and, if so, is it outdoors or inside on a treadmill etc? Do you use a Heart Rate Monitor? I use Jefit for my gym workouts (which are mainly weights) and then Endomondo for cycling, running, and walking outdoors. Endomondo is great because it connects to my HRM…
  • Sorry to revive an old post but I have recently switched from EndoMondo to Runkeeper and, while I like it more (especially the Pebble watch support) it seems to drain the battery faster. Anyone else found that?
  • correct about lemurs being primates but not monkeys
  • If you can weather the storm you'll usually find these guys drop off the radar pretty quickly. I think they have short attention spans and the lack of improvement in the 10 minute sessions they did for two weeks puts them off. I think the bravado wears off quickly if you are serious because you quickly realise there are…
  • YES. As everyone has said, they are really the only way to get an accurate indication of how many calories YOU are burning rather than some fictional average person. I notice that for a given activity, MFP was often way over on estimated calories and the equipment in my gym was quite a bit under! They are still not perfect…
  • I have looked into this and it does seem to have some great benefits. I don't think it would work for me because of my schedule/lifestyle but it is interesting. I do wish people would get off the 'we've evolved to fast' BS. That might hold up if you also spent all day on your feet, tracking wildlife and running with spears…

  • Yeah weights are much more enjoyable for me, I think because it has a more instant effect. I can feel how hard I've worked immediately after each set. Fortunately I get my cardio needs through cycling to work and playing badminton so I can use the gym just for weights.
  • Not true. I play badminton for two hours every week with a club I help run. It is brilliant fun and I burn around 1000 calories! It's a social club so we have a laugh, chat in between games and when we play it is competitive but not too serious. I would happily do it even if there was no health benefit at all. Try looking…
  • I think what I am taking from this thread is; Be a vegetarian if you want but not because it's healthier. Neither lifestyle will make you more or less manly. As I said before, I wouldn't suggest that drastic a change because it will be harder to stick to. You are better off making small changes that you can fit into your…
