I’m right at 220. GW is 160, but I’ll still be over the moon at 170! I haven’t been there since I was in my 20s. I’ll send you a friend request! 🙂

This is super inspiring! Thank you for sharing! I'm sure there are a lot of us with chronic pain issues that are hoping they will diminish by shedding al those extra pounds we're carrying around.

I'm nearing 50! Just a couple of years away now. That — and my recent realization that I can't even zip up last winter's pants — made me realize it's time to stop messing around and get back in shape. I'll add you. I'm happy to add anyone so we can encourage each other.

I'm in the same boat. I know what I need to be doing. I've been here before a long time ago, but I'm getting to that age where I know it has to be now or it's going to get much, much harder. I'll add you as a friend! We can encourage each other.

I'm in the same boat as you! I joined in 2011 and had a bunch of friends on here, but at some point years ago, I removed everybody. 🙈 I have no idea why, guess I thought I didn't need community anymore. Anyway, just added you!

This actually makes a bunch of sense! I'm not sure if that was what was going on with me, but it's certainly plausible. Regardless, I think I need to stick with MFP. It's way less stressful than WW for me. 😬

First of all, thanks for all of the great comments! I'm glad to know this makes some sense to somebody other than me. That said, regarding this: I can totally see how it would seem that is the problem, and I had actually wondered if that might have been the case, as well, but I've ALSO been tracking my 0-point foods and…

Great job! I struggle with eating at night, too, but you know what? A fitness coach friend told me the best thing to do when you get the nighttime munchies is to just go to bed. Just go right on to bed, and when you get up in the morning you'll feel lighter and better — just from not giving in to those nighttime cravings.…

I know you've been on this site for a while, but I can't tell you how happy I am to see you deciding to take control of your health and turn things in a new and exciting direction!

You obviously must be eating right! Wow! 73 pounds lost is quite impressive!

Pizza is hard to track! We don't have it often, but we usually get it from a local pizzeria that, of course, doesn't have calories listed on the MFP database. I usually just estimate about 500 calories/slice of pepperoni. I think if I can just establish my logging again as a daily habit, the numbers on the scale will start…

That sounds like good advice! Hopefully, they won't mind taking me through the orientation again since it has been so long.
-
That's brilliant! Great work and congratulations!

Anyone?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Unfortunately, there are NO actual running stores anywhere near where we live. As I mentioned, we live on an island off the coast of NC, and the closest thing to a running store is the ****'s Sporting Goods in a town 25 minutes away. :ohwell: That's where I bought my shoes today, but the…

Bump. Sounds yummy!

Thanks for the responses, everybody! That sounds like great, and unanimous, advice. I will just let it go and consider myself now back on track.
-
Wow! What a huge difference! You look fantastic! Congratulations.

Seriously, you can do pretty well on a budget if you just stick to whole, unprocessed foods and ditch the fast food. I agree with others, that dry beans are a great choice, bags of frozen veggies can be bought pretty cheap (even if they're not organic, it's still a good choice), bags of frozen boneless, skinless chicken…

Ok, thank you jmp1031! That is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for! Everything I've read about doing non-walking/running/jogging/stairs activities with the Fitbit says you should either just take the device off while doing the activity, or else start the activity timer. I did record the start time for the 'Step…

Anybody?

Is it too soon to give this a bump?

I've only had my Fitbit for a couple of weeks, but I'm definitely eating back the calories that I get. I have NEGATIVE ADJUSTMENTS turned on here on MFP, and I have both MFP and FB set to the same activity level, and same desired loss level, so they're pretty much in sync with each other on the numbers (give or take about…

Wow! I already love cottage cheese, but there are a lot of ideas on here I'd never even thought of before. Saving this for later. Oh, one more thing... why do people bother responding to a thread just to say, "I have no idea. I don't like it." LOL

Stevia. KAL Liquid Stevia is my favorite. Stevia is a 0 calorie sweetener that comes from a plant. It is not a frankenfood that was invented in a lab. It has been used in some cultures for thousands of years without incident. I won't go near artificial sweeteners. They're poison to the body, wreak havoc on your insulin…

Nevermind. I synced my FitBit again and the calories burnt had changed from things I'd been doing around the house the last few minutes, and MFP ended up re-syncing on its own. Problem solved!

All of the above are great. If you want to give your immmune system a boost, take garlic and pick up some Sambucol (it's a brand of elderberry syrup) at the local pharmacy or health food store.

Coconut oil is wonderful in a long list of ways. There are plenty of resources for information on it. It's definitely way better than nasty oils from GM crops like corn/soybean/rapeseed (canola). That said, I don't take coconut just by itself. I always enjoy it in my food. A spoonful in a smoothie, or better yet, some full…

Both lemon juice and vinegar are diuretics. If you add either of them to water (like a tablespoon to 16 oz) with maybe a little stevia to sweeten it, it will help you shed water, but that won't give you reliable weight loss results. Any loss from that will just be water weight. Another thing, best to sip water with vinegar…

I had a quick loss at first, too, but I see my numbers on the scale bounce up and down, up and down, up and down — like a heartrate monitor — every day AND every week. (Yes, I weigh every day, but I'm glad I do, because if I just depended on my weight on the same day each week, it'd look like I made NO discernable…
