I agree...search the other threads on this for a wealth of information... However...my doctor told me NOT to eat my excercise calories as long as I wasn't hungry...which I rarely am...until I have lost 50 of the 83 I intend to lose. Down 44...I am actually less hungry than before...so I am curious to see what he says next…

I got Keen A86 shoes...and they feel extremely light and are labeled a minimalist shoe...air goes through them, they are very flexible and Keens tend to run wide. I love them. The Five-fingers don't work for me... my big toe rubs on the seams on the inside because of the shape...I have had to return them twice for the same…

That was nice that she said something!! I was in a Caribou a while back and wanted to try something different than my northern lite...the lady said that some mocha thing was only 20 calories more. Looked it up on my phone after I drank half of it and it was 'only 250' calories more than my usual!! Ugh.

My husband was my first MFP buddy...and yep...he supports me but not on MFP...he lost his 40 pounds and rarely uses it anymore.

Ok...lots of supportive and helpful comments...I agree with those first of all... But...unless I missed it...no one has asked what kind of diet you are trying to stick to in between binges. How many calories is your average daily goal? I ask because when mine was set too low, and I didn't exercise, I would snap after a few…

I agree...this is for YOU, if he doesn't want it, then don't waste any time or energy trying to make him want it. My husband hated all veggies...after 12 years of me trying to slip stuff in the meals, he does like a select few things, but he will never eat like me. We had a nice chat one day about how I need to do this for…

Thanks so much for the kind words....you guys gave me the motivation I needed to go get on the treadmill this morning! :) And to answer a question I saw in there...I started MFP *for real* on October 26, 2011...110 days logged in today! But I had lost 10 pounds about a year ago...actually 16 and gained 6 right back when I…

Thanks everyone! I knew this is where people would understand! :)

My doc said no also...and I have lost just fine. :)

My worst was when my teenagers had a party...and all the food was upstairs with 5 adults...while the kids were mostly downstairs. Someone brought a whole crockpot of bacon-wrapped little smokies! Ugh! I still log my bad days...usually football Sundays when people bring treats I wouldn't keep in the house...and I often use…

Did you know that the Small Skinny Pepperment Mocha Latte is only 100 calories?? It's my replacement for my other favorites and it truly tates really rich!!

Friday nite Fish Fry...there is a dive in town that has the BEST fish ever and it's only $7 a person...All you can eat of course. Can't even go...it's not worth the calories in the tartar sauce and I come home feeling sick!
-
Yep...agree! I just try to eat less than I used to of everything...it's one day lost, but I am back on tomorrow. I would rather lose one day and thoroughly enjoy it, than be depressed about the rest of my life and either give up or avoid the fun times.

I actually have my ENTIRE SCRAP ROOM on craigslist...have had a number of interested people but I really don't want to sell. I LOVE looking at it...the things make me happy...lol...and I like that no one else has anything like it. But seriously I could have so much more fun with that $ that's sitting there not being used.…

I look up the food BEFORE I eat it. It helps if you have the app on your phone, but if not, check out options for the next day depending on what you have available or where you will be going, so you are prepared. On the rare occasion that I skip that part, I have been surprised how bad it was. Nothing is worse than hitting…

Oh and I am 37...lol...I am not sure if it's harder as we age or if we are more set in our ways and it's harder to break the habits? My parents both started MFP about mid-November and my dad lost 32, my mom lost 21...and both are within 5 pounds of their goal weights...and in their 60's! :) I am not sure how the bugg…

Ok...I thought I would put in my 2 cents because I am 5'9" and I started (again) in October at 258 lbs. So quite similar to you... I did all those calculators and stuff when my weight seemed slow...I was shooting for two pounds a week, and after the first 3 weeks it wasn't even close. I did figure out my problem...I bought…

I make cards...it should help with weight loss cuz I don't allow food in my scrap room...but nope. You just don't burn a lot of calories sitting in a chair coloring...who knew? :) (sorry it's obnoxiously big...and I resized...ugh!)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!! I am almost halfway in my 80 pound adventure and people like you inspire me on the bad days. :) And your smile is sooo cute!

Ok I dislike most fish too...same reasons...but I got this big bag of Parmesan Crusted Tilapia from Sams Club...(probably at most grocery stores but I haven't looked)...it's Treasures from the Sea brand I think...anyway, it is soooo good. Not fishy, no bones, and quite flavorful. One large piece is only 220 calories if you…

This is so funny!! I love it! I started this for myself too...and my husband and two teenagers have lost 65 pounds altogether over the past 6 months of me shopping and cooking better. You know you get to take credit for your wife's 10 pounds too!! LOL
-
Ok...seriously this is like saying *I HATE to take a shower* or *I HATE to go to the doctor* or *I HATE to swallow pain meds*...so what...you wanna feel better...you do it. Now for the helpful part...I got a bodybugg to tell me my daily calorie burn...and the funny thing is that if I get up off my butt and DO SOMETHING…

Ok I skimmed a few comments and this was touched on already but I am going to say it again.... I felt exactly the same way when I would walk the mile loop in my neighborhood (somewhat rural...about 50 total homes)...like they are all looking at the chubbyneighbor trying to walk. Well, first of all, I have to think about…

You are awesome!!! What amazing determination...and you did all this with bad knees!! I don't even know you and I want to hug you...and thank you so much for the inspiration to keep going!

You actually have to have a bone structure and bone density test if you want an accurate measurement on frame size and true goal weight for your body. According to the wrist test, my finger overlaps my thumb by over a half inch, but I have incredibly long fingers...so that's useless. I always liked to say I was big boned,…

As other said...yes...more calories in than out causes weight gain. However, it would be REALLY REALLY DIFFICULT to eat 2500 calories in fresh fruits and veggies in a day. By volume, they are generally the lowest calorie food out there...so the more you eat, the less room you have left for the less healthy foods. Ok...yes,…

I got a bodybugg and found out that I am burning less than MFP says I do on non-exercise days. That explains why my weight loss has been 1 pound a week instead of the 2 pound a week goal I have.
-
I log my cheat days...because I want to make sure that if I don't lose for a while, it's not because I ate back every single calorie in my weekly deficit. It does help when you know how many calories you burned that day too...I cheat within that limit...I won't eat more than I burned the entire day so it's just a day lost…

Share! If at all possible share your meal with someone. This has been my lifesaver...everyone knows I am counting calories and a couple of closest friends are too...so we split a meal. The other thing is like was already mentioned...look up their menu online before you go and check the low-cal options...most places have a…

Same here....my husband uses it occasionally...more to check a calorie count of foods than anything...he lost most of his weight before using MFP and joined shortly after me. It's more a of a time thing with us...I use a lot of the tools, and forums to get more info on how to improve our whole family's diet...and he *just*…
