  • Jess, you're just flying today! Good job. Felt really crummy after my run yesterday and had a sore throat this morning, so I just did P90X this morning and no run tonight.
  • Marla, You do rock! Congrats!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Great achievement, and a great time to boot! We knew you could do it!
  • Where is everybody today. Got in 8 miles this morning. Beautiful day for running!
  • Great day for running here too! 6.6 mile tempo run this morning.
  • No run today, just upper body /abs workout.
  • If you run the same pace all the time, you will continue to run the same pace, because your body finds its 'rhythm'. On your shorter run days, do a track workout or speed intervals (fast pace alternating with recovery jogs). As you get comfortable with the faster pace, start adding 'surges' into your long run, or pick up…
  • Track day today - 400 m repeats. Pyometrics tonight _ I am whooped!
  • Jess, Congrats on the PR:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: We knew you could do it. I got about 5 miles in with my son today. Time for leg work out tonight.
  • Good luck tomorrow:flowerforyou: I know you'll bring it!
  • Sherry, glad to see you're out and about. Aren't you supposed to be taking it easy? Hope you are on the mend soon. 6.6 mile tempo run today - new (fast) running partner in the group, so we have picked up the tempo over the past couple of weeks. Great run.
  • Sherry, sorry to hear the new shoes aren't giving you any relief. Maybe you need to look into orthotics? No run for me today either. After track yesterday morning, upper body workout last night and plyometric work out this morning, I'm whooped - I'll rest my legs for my tempo run tomorrow.
  • Great Track work out this morning. 1.5 mile warm up run to the track, then 400, 800, 1600, 800, 400, then the 1.5 miles home. Strong winds, but about 60 degrees, so a comfortable run and pushed the pace a bit today.
  • Just a casual 4 miles for me today, followed by Kenpo X. (Running is so much easier!)
  • Welcome to the group. Good luck on your 1/2. Kechie! Welcome back! Sherry, hope those new shoes get you back running. Katie, you keep racking up those miles! Good work! You'll be kickin' it in the Hood to Coast run. Got my 6.6 miles in this morning. Not really fast, but I felt better than I have all week, so it was good.
  • I have an ultramarathon-type friend who I believe has run the Hood to Coast relay. If you can get a team together, there is a coast to coast relay in Florida (from somewhere around Fort Lauderdale to the gulf coast (Venice maybe) Don't know any details because the whole 'trying to race at 2 AM after riding around in a van…
  • Katie, you're racking up those miles - good work!! No run for me today - did upper body work out this morning. Still feel a little leg weary from Saturday and Sunday's runs. Not sure why, they weren't really long and not particularly fast. Oh well, I guess some days you're just not feeling it.
  • Five miles again today, plus yogaX
  • Good Job!!:drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
  • Track work out this morning, 6x800s, 5.25 miles total.
  • No minimums or group goals. Your goals are your own (weight loss, increased endurance, increased race speed, whatever you are working on). The group is more about sharing experiences and support, with maybe a touch of accountability, if you haven't run all week without a good reason:laugh: .
  • No run for me today. Got up yesterday and decided to do a 10K race (which went really well:happy: ), got home and took the kids to the pool and swam some laps, then did P90X back & biceps and Ab ripper. Think I'll just do Yoga today!
  • Return them! Running can be hard enough without shoes that rub and make you numb. I agree with zbk, go to a real running store where they video you on a treadmill and fit you for shoes that will work for you.
  • Great story!! I have a similar version about this girl who looked like a Hooters waitress during my last 1/2 marathon, but yours is better. But, it is time for you to fess up. You placed in the top 5% - doesn't sound too Saint Bernard-ish to me.
  • I am debating whether to work out tonight and sleep in tomorrow, or go to bed and get up early and run a 10 K race
  • Had a great 6.6 mile tempo run this morning. Great weather for running down here! Oops double click!:embarassed:

  • P90X legs and back workout this morning. No run until tomorrow.
  • Check out the 1/2 M training programs on runnersworld.com or the FIRST program (if you can't find the FIRST, check with jessmomof3 and she can probably connect you - good program! Run 6 x 800 intervals (sort of fast) for track Tuesday 5.25 miles total. Great day for running.
  • Congrats on your run:drinker: :drinker: I totally agree - I had a similar rant two weeks ago after my races. Many races have rules like you suggested, but they don't enforce them, so people just do what they want. As for the T-shirts, I often don't bother signing up for some of the shorter races in my area unless I really…
  • Probably not a bad idea! The first time I did the workout, I could hardly walk the next day:laugh: Now it's not so bad.
