This. I haven't read the book, but you can put tons and tons of responsibility on consumers, but the simple fact of the matter is that the knowledge about food and products people consume is NOT available. Until recently, without insane amounts of hounding you probably couldn't figure out how many calories are in a Big…

Saving calories and everything is awesome! I try to focus on my weekly total rather than dailies, so I don't feel bad if I go over a bit. Have fun on your pub crawl!!
-
Out of the 10 topics we get on this a day (or at least that's what it seems like) this has probably been the most informative/easiest to understand I've seen.
-
I count my tea! Generally I drink a ton of tea at home, but when I'm out I keep water in my stainless steel bottle that I drink from a lot.
-
I've skimmed it, and I agree. Not all calories are created equal- 100 calories from fruit is going to be much better for you than a 100cal snack pack of oreos. I think most of the people on here have made a life style change to eating healthier, rather than just limiting cals. :)
-
I try to stick to 1200 cals/day, and the way I do it is figure out what I want and portion it to fit in. I've had to eat a lot healthier so I don't blow all my cals on one meal. I find myself eating lots of different combinations of fruit/veggies haha
-
Same. I'm pretty sure the majority of people on this site know the info, especially the 1200 calorie thing. I only see at least five topics a day about it.
-
I'm doing the same thing! You might be working out too much- your body is retaining lots to repair itself after working out. Vanity pounds are so hard to lose ;^; Up your calorie intake?
-
Hate hate hate buffets. No idea what's in the food, hard to estimate serving sizes, and the food is not being put into an environment I'm comfortable with all the time. I'd rather pay more (or less, usually) for exactly what I want.
-
If you're looking at zero calorie foods, I think it might be better to look at negative calorie foods? Things that cost more calories to digest than they actually contain.
-
Thanks for the responses! I'll definetly look into freezing/dehyrdrated when I get started. It makes me really excited seeing how enthusiastic everyone is!
-
Green tea :) And foodwise, greek yogurt

41, and I'm turning into a MFP addict!
-
I record my ups and downs too- I generally check every day at the same time, but try to only take my Wednesday number to heart about my overall progress.
-
Non diet, and now diet sodas. Mm, mm tea~

From what I've seen it's quite easy, and no need for cycling. I tend to do more cardio, but my boyfriend who does 0 cardio and pure lifting was losing ~10 lbs/month while gaining strength and increasing muscle mass at an insane rate. It all depends on your diet.
-
At the beginning I always had to tell myself "my work out will be over in 20 minutes" or checking the calories/logging everything before I started to change and enjoy exercise more. Having close friends also helped me a lot- my boyfriend is also pro-eating healthier choices, and encourages working out.

I'm going to have to get one of those scales! I fear becoming even more skinny-fat than I already am :(

this~

I hope to reach my goal weight by Halloween, or at least be close to it! I want to be Pris from Blade Runner :)
-
My biggest problem when I stopped drinking diet soda was the caffeine withdrawal, so I switched to tea. :)

Watched this on Netflix earlier, really enjoyed it! Like every kind of media, you just need to be able to look at it critically and take away from it what you want- this movie didn't scream at me to not eat meat, and I took more of a message that it's better to be in control of what you are consuming. I personally eat…
-
vitamins need to be taken with meals because some get into the body better when they can attach to food, I think? I generally take mine right after I eat, or right before I go to bed to avoid the nausea I get sometimes.
-
I take a few multivitamins and supplements every day, and I've noticed a change in my health/energy/overall happiness. :)
-
I'm in! 5'4", 130-132 currently, would like to be 125 by the end of September :)
-
I haven't really adopted a diet like Atkins or the Zone, but I do read a lot of diet books and use the information that feels right to me to adjust my daily eating habits.
-
Almost everything I used to eat! My diet's completely changed since I've started paying attention to calories because I couldn't believe just how many I was normally consuming. (no more reward cinnabon's ;^; )
-
I drink genmai cha green tea with roasted brown rice! It's delicious, sometimes I brew a bunch in the morning to leave in the fridge to drink cold for the rest of the day.
-
For a few weeks it was breakfast: huge bowl of cereal, maybe 2 lunch: panera, or chipotle dinner: huge bowl of canned soup all the while drinking tons of soda, high calorie teas, alcohol, candy almost every day... i don't even want to think about how many calories it was lol

The side lunges with raises will be the death of me. Just finished L1D3, and after starting C25k my legs are obscenely sore(it's so sad!) But it feels awesome! :D
