The support you show for your sister is so overwhelming in this post, it's gagging me. /sarcasm

Ideal weight is just that -- an ideal. What do YOU want? My advice would be to set a target for 210 and see how you feel when you get there. Lower it 10 lbs at a time until you're happy and feeling healthy. I think that once you near 200, you'll find it difficult to lose much beyond that and it will be a real struggle...…

Too bad I can't eat beans or nuts, haha. I do eat most everything else near daily... except blueberries. Tried to like them but BLEH. Much prefer raspberries or blackberries.

The chicken and turkey sausages, dried cranberries and pretty much any of the fresh produce.

MFP has a setting for sodium which is the recommended limit for average people. I tend to stay at least 500 under that (I believe MFP sets it to 2500). If you're drinking a lot of water and not eating a ton of junk and fast food, one soup at 690mg isn't going to kill you. But I would definitely swing for a more natural…

This. No need to make 2 separate meals. If we're having chicken sausage, for example, he'll eat 3 and I'll only have 1. Pretty simply stuff.
-
I log everything so, yes. The only thing is that MFP doesn't separate fruit/natural sugars from processed ,so I often ignore the macro if it says I'm over my sugar but I've had a banana and that's it.

White bread is pretty much useless for you in terms of nutrition. Many of those types of breads contain HFCS (if you're in America) or just tons of extra added sugar for no reason. If you must have white, a few brands are doing whole grain white which is something, at least. The best for you is whole wheat/whole meal. For…

I have problems with high fat animal proteins because of my gallbladder, such as eggs and red meat, so I struggle for protein as well. I go for lean sources like chicken and turkey, and I also eat a lot of green vegetables (which have a lot of protein, most people don't know that). Cheese is also a really good source and…

If the can of soda is using real sugar, which there aren't many on the market that do if you're in America (they use high fructose corn syrup). The rest of the world is a different story.

The Dannon stuff is not real greek yogurt, I'm not a fan. I think the Dannon has slightly less calories and slightly less sugar, though.

They are high in sodium, but I make sure to drink enough water and even with eating one for lunch during the day, I have my breakfast and dinner homemade and I'm nowhere near my sodium limit, like ever. I think it's a lot of fearmongering. I try to pick the tv dinners that are preservative-free; Lean Cuisine has quite a…

How do you handle this? You don't. There is no switching from sexy fling to platonic friend. It doesn't work, and I've seen it go downhill where my friends were involved -- happens every time. Plus, how would your fiance feel? I think it depends on the person but I know my husband surely wouldn't be hanging out with an old…

Breakfast choices: Yogurt (either flavoured or plain greek, if plain then I add fresh fruit) Oatmeal or Kashi whole grain hot cereal Regular cold cereal with skim milk, usually nothing too sugary unless I'm needing fiber, and then it's frosted shreddies time! Fresh fruit Lunch : Some kind of leftovers, calorie portioned…

lol because she totally asked to be hit on by random strangers... how classy.

It can be genetic, yes, but it could also be something you're eating. Sometimes green vegetables and gluten products can cause lower abdomen bloating until your body naturally expels it. Your intestines could just be a bit backed up! I also notice that I get a little more lower tummy flub near that time of the month and if…

That's fine by me, I'm not too worried about the scale; just want to tighten up my stomach a little and lose the love handle bits ;-)

Nearly choked on my water from laughing at this. LOL

Haven't read the other responses -- but you can only do so much for him. 1,500 is too low. MFP put my 245lb, 6'5 sedentary husband at 1,750, so your husband's idea of what he should be eating is way off. And yeah, make him count his own calories. 10lbs a week isn't just stupid, it's ignorant. (I also love the "I have a…

I usually go for salad and fruit first... maybe a bit of cottage cheese to get some protein and make you feel more full. Then I take small portions of the 'dinner' food -- mostly vegetables and a small serving of grilled meat (no fried!) or pasta.

I like a lot of the organic cereals and boxed type stuff, it doesn't have preservatives and high fructose corn syrup. I also do buy some organic produce but the cost is sometimes ridiculous. I do believe it's better for you (no preservatives or pesticides) but it costs so much because the yield is smaller for the farmers…

Kroger and Harris Teeter carry them.

Flavored greek yogurt has a lot of processed sugar... I believe most of them are 16-20g per serving. Add your sugar packets for the coffee, and done. I rarely ever go over mine and I'm on 25. It's not difficult (and you don't count natural fruit sugars).
-
I usually pick a regular salad dressing (generally they have less sugar and sodium) and use a tablespoon or two in my salad, and then use balsamic vinegar for extra flavor. Better for you.
-
Last night I had goat's cheese (only a spoonful in my food) AND cottage cheese with my salad... *slaps forehead*

It doesn't mean that the school shouldn't be held responsible for not providing healthy choices. Is it the kid's fault that their parents don't make their lunch? No. So why should the kid's body have to suffer for it? That being said, I'm really not surprised... the rest of the world has so much better, healthier food than…

Same.

That's odd... I know that the average adult only needs 4-5oz. of ANIMAL protein in a day, and many Americans go over that on a regular meal or hamburger. But any source of protein? Hmmm...

Preach it! Haha, and so true! I struggled until I embraced dresses and skirts ;-)
