Brooks Ariel...on my fourth pair...great support shoe with good cushioning and control.

I have to agree with Trail Addict...when I need new running shoes, I head to my local running store. Sure, they may not have discount shoes, but the last thing you want is a foot problem, shin splints, knee or hip pain, etc. The shoes (and a good bra) are the only equipment you need for running, so it really is worth it to…

Try this site, they have "high support" bras and you might even find one on sale. http://www.teamestrogen.com/

I agree that the Polar FT4 is very reliable. I have really put it to work...P90X, swimming, cycling, hiking, and lots of running. You put your age, height, etc. in and it does the rest. If you want to track calories burned during workouts, it's the ticket.

The only time mine acted up was when I forgot to wet the sensors before my workout. I assume you are doing that.

I almost always eat all the calories I earn. I also almost always go over on protein. I used MFP the way it was designed, and it worked perfectly for me.

Just printed your recipe...will be a great post-run snack. Thanks!

Yes, yes, yes...you can most definitely do it and you have plenty of time to SLOWLY build up your mileage. I like the training plans by Hal Higdon. Check out his site for a free schedule for a novice runner. Half marathons are a blast...lots of other people out there just like you, lots of support, something to brag about…

Welcome! This is the place to be. It worked for me and so many others. Glad to have you on the team.

I have the same model, but no rash. Try using Body Glide on the area before putting on the strap. It's an "anti-chafing skin protectant" used by runners on any area that may get irritated from rubbing. Should be able to find it at any sporting goods store and definitely at a running store.

I started around the same weight as you are and am down to 116...1 lb a week is probably more realistic.

Yes, I have the same issue. Do you have a yoga mat? I double or even triple fold it where my hip hits the floor. It really makes a difference.

Hal Higdon has lots of tried and true, easy-to-follow running plans. I used his novice schedule to successfully complete a marathon. www.halhigdon.com

If you program it with your data (age, weight, etc.) then all you have to do is wear it during your workout. Once you start the stopwatch, it will calculate how many calories you burn during the workout. It is also a great way to monitor just how hard you are or are not working.
-
Not sure about the body bug, but you can get a decent heart rate monitor for less than $100 that will track your heart rate and calories burned during your workouts.

Just one bit of advice (I'm on P90X week 5) for the pull-ups...consider using a band over a door at first. It's a great way to build up to using a pull-up bar later.

You definitely do NOT need the special Nike shoes. I've been using the Nike+ system with my nano for years and I don't run in Nikes. I got a little rubber holder for about $6 at a running store. You pop the shoe sensor in it and tie it on with your laces. Works great. There are also lots of little pockets sold to do the…
