  • Aww thank you! I don't really see it as inspiring, there are people on here, both men and women, lifting far more in order to help their weight loss. I'm just starting out on that journey :)
  • Bump because I went to the gym and upped the weight I was lifting quite a bit, very successfully!
  • Re-rack your weights people! I'm small and some of those plate loaded leg machines have the weights at head height for me! That's gonna spell trouble if I have to try and remove your 45lb plates! Only other thing is, people putting the DB's back in the rack in random places, or with the numbers facing in so it takes ages…
  • So inspiring! I was planning to go to the gym tomorrow anyway, but now I'm planning a HEAVY, full body strength workout! Gonna have to start with the DB's though, as I'm too weak to even lift the bar (apart from the EZ Curl bar).
  • Noooo, do NOT do this! I once did a Pump class on an empty stomach, was running late, no time to eat etc. I finished that class with all my muscles gently shaking. Told the instructor, she asked if I'd eaten beforehand. When I said I hadn't, she said that way why, your body NEEDS something before a workout.
  • I can help with one question. I was told the EZ Bar was meant more for bicep and tricep exercises, apparently. I'd assume that the plates would probably be sized for that manufacturers bar too, so I don't think they'd be interchangeable. Yep, you're getting the names right, although I don't know some of those exercises. I…
  • Wow, that was an eye opening experience. Did some baseline tests, weight, blood pressure, measurements etc. No problems there, it's what I'm there to change, right? Then we did some flexibility tests, and it turns out: I have very poor flexibility in my lower body My feet naturally turn out for some reason, but because I…
  • OK, have you ever watched him leave after his workout? Some people can move around perfectly well some of the time, but say, after a visit to the gym, they need some help. Example, someone with arthritis, who's been advised to try and keep as active as possible. Just another point of view. I'd like to ban perfumes/body…
  • Well, I did it! Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near as strong as I was last year (not working out regularly = bad!) and couldn't even manage 10kgs, so it was back to the dumbbells upstairs til I get some of my strength back! It actually wasn't too bad in there, I went at a quiet time though.
  • Thank you! I managed to figure out the photos, just needed to change some stuff from upper to lower case :) Yep, as long as the scale goes down, it doesn't matter how long it takes. Although that 2010 picture is horrible, I think I MUST have changed from THAT!
  • Mmm, anything Reese's is my downfall - that said, here in the UK, at least in my area, it's hard to find shops that stock them. I've found one that stocks Reese's products, along with Nerds and Hershey chocolate bars (I've tried the cookies and cream one). All amazing, but all strictly treats! I wonder when I'll be brave…
  • Wow, you look wonderful, thank you for sharing! I have circa 70lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight for my height, and seeing how i MIGHT look when I'm done has inspired me (have had a couple of bad days food-wise).
  • My mum made a few comments about my weight when I was about 18. I'd had a rough time through school and unfortunately turned to food to help me deal with it. Those comments really hurt (mum's as thin as a stick and can eat whatever she likes without gaining weight), and I told her how it made me feel. She said nothing…
  • To feel confident enough to move forward in my relationship with my boyfriend, when the time is right. To fit into a size 14 or 12 pair of jeans again To complete a Race for Life 5K Wear a dress on Valentines Day (if things keep going well with my boyfriend) Wear a dress to my graduation in July. Incidentally, I have a…
  • Can I just add something to this? I went out on the town last Monday, with a good friend. I had seen a dress I quite liked and so decided that I'd get her opinion on it. We ended up going to a different shop, but they had the same dress. They also had it in black (it was cream) but only in a size 14. The cream version was…
  • Question of the Day - Wednesday: How have your new healthier habits (eating healthier, exercising, etc.) affected your significant other and/or child(ren)? I have neither, and my family are pretty good about helping me eat healthy, and exercise, so I've not really had an impact on their lives. QOTD - Thursday: What excuses…
  • QOTD Tuesday: What is your favorite meal? By this I mean the meal that you most look/looked forward to, without regards to calories. Now, can you make it MFP-worthy? Oooh, I have a lot of favourite meals. But I'd have to say top of the list is anything including salmon. I try and make it healthy by having it grilled,…
  • Monday Question of the Day - how did you set your goals? Is it based on weight, BMI, feeling healthy, body fat %, etc?? Or was it to get down to a previous weight or clothing size? Is it the final goal, or will you decide for sure once you get there? For me, I'm aiming to get to my ideal weight according to BMI - between…
  • I've been trying and failing to lose weight since my teens, but now, I'm fed up of being the small (height) but big (weight) girl in pictures, of hating having my picture taken and of feeling like a horrible abnormality when out shopping with skinny friends because nothing will fit me, even though I'm only a UK 16. I'm not…
  • Hey Diamonds! Well it's been a random week for me, I ended up spending 2 days with a good friend and so was away from the computer Monday and Tuesday, and yesterday was too tired after my volunteer job to really do much online, so I'm on a catch up, if I've missed any questions please let me know :) Last week I tried 2 new…
  • Oooh tough question! I have quite a few, but there's something about Jared Leto, the lead singer from 30 Seconds to Mars that I adore!
  • Hi Diamonds! I love going to our local theme park with my friend. She uses a wheelchair out and about and the park is set in beautiful countryside, so although the paths are paved, they're hilly. It's a great workout, pushing her up the hills and having to break into a run on the way down to avoid being dragged over. But…
  • Oooh this is a tough one... I'd have to say, it's a toss up between Ben and Jerry's cookie dough, or Maltesers ice cream. Yum... Now that I'm being healthy, I love frozen yoghurt.
  • For me, it's my eyes. When I wear nice eye make up, I fee like nothing can knock me back confidence wise.
  • I never thought I would tell a stranger this, but... when I was younger, I had an obsession with my mum's mirrored wardrobes. i'd open the doors so that I could see a circle of reflections so there were about 6 of me. I'm really hopeful that this challenge will be the thing I need to lose my weight.
  • Thanks everyone. They've actually been living together just under a year, so they don't need homeware type stuff, and as photography lovers, I hope they like the idea. Just need to arrange the shoot now :)
  • Thank you  I just have to try and make sure I get to the pool on a couple of the days I'm not volunteering, and just be really strict when I'm out and about with friends. I think my mini goal is to be comfortable enough to wear a bikini, I've only got a very unflattering one piece or a tankini that is closer to a…
  • Hi there! Name: Vicki Height 5ft 2 Reason for Joining: I'm fairly new to MFP, and although I've lost a pound in my first week, I really feel like, if I have a partner dedicated to helping me and supporting me, I can achieve so much more. I enjoy writing, love making new friends, especially all over the world, and feel that…
  • So far, the only thing I haven't counted, is from yesterday. I went out and shared some tapas with friends, and I couldn't find anything remotely like what I ate in the database (a little bit of a few things) as it was a local place. Other than that, I do log everything because I want to know where my calories are going,…
  • Thanks everyone! I wish we had Skinny Cow ice cream, but I've never seen it in a UK supermarket :( Sounds nice though :) I think I just found the thing I needed to stop me: I can get a good sized meal for the same amount of calories in one of those things! Think the choice has been made! I. Will. Not. Give. In.
