I have no need to admit anything. That the word has been modernised is obvious, incontrovertible. Nor must I acquiesce to any such thing. As long as both meanings are used both are correct. Subcultures rub along side by side at all times. Or is that something else that only happened in days of yore? Must I now bow down and…

Days in mainland Europe are arranged differently. Spain, Portugal etc, the heat make sit impossible to do anything during the afternoon. So everyone starts really early, eats and snooze the afternoon away, go back to work early evening then promenade until late (including small children). France, on the whole, has a more…

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones... ... When you're with the Flintstones you'll have a yabba dabba doo time. A dabba doo time. You'll have a gay old time. And Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace, Wednesday's child is full of woe, ... But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day Is bonny and…

So you are looking for a seedy, low GL pitta bread that freezes well. I am guessing that the lower the GL the better, (slower absorption rate to reduce the insulin spike). I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. It can be really annoying when something you like suddenly disappears. Hopefully they'll come back, not too 'improved'…

What was special about them? Maybe we can help find a replacement for you, just in case.

Don't worry about it. I step on the scales every time I leave the bathroom. I look for fun, to see what happens during the day. I only log it once a week or so! As long as there is a downward trend over a month (my preferred timeframe) I don't really care about thee details. I am just nosy :)

Let's not dwell on Rosemary's baby! Can we all repeat, 25-30% body fat is normal. If you have had 'weight restoration treatment' before you need to take your persistence (obsession?) with this question as a hint to yourself that maybe, just maybe, you need to seek some advice from closer to home. Your doctor or counsellor,…

Why stupid? There are quite a few threads on telly programmes that have been challenging, recently. Some have been misunderstood, partly as the style and ability of the presenter is a bit lacking. But the debate, questions, queries and attempted answers and explanations have been interesting and informative. The whole…

That was 'in a normal life exercise alone will not be sufficient to cause significant weight loss" But it is vital to sustain weight loss and other healthy lifestyle changes. Why - the amount needed vs the kcals needed to sustain it; the need to rest after it (especially for beginners); the revved up metabolism/exercise…

If you google tibial stress you will get better quality hits than if you use shin splints. Good luck.

There is a group called 5:2 Fasting that has a thread with lots of links. They don't all link to 5:2 studies, there aren't m/any, but there are lots of gold standard research studies, mainly animal based but a growing number of human studies. Older human studies tended to focus on diabetes.…

What they said plus I found a website with salad in a jar, 5 jars, 5 salads, made on Sunday for the rest of the week. Very little wasted, at the moment. If I remember I'll let you know how well it works by Friday :)

And repeat... that wasn't what the documentary was about!

Ah! An American perspective. That one hadn't crossed my mind, to be honest! And has anyone else got the krispykreme ad at the top of the page? Unexpected item in bagging area, indeed!

Ice, elevation, no painkillers for 24 hours (most reduce the beneficial swelling), then ibuprofen (or any painkiller you might need), stay of it a bit more and see how it feels and see your GP if it is still painful.

How did you fast?

Oh dear! Please do watch the programme. You will see that you are responding to the title and the other people who did not watch it!

Hmmmm????

Have a quick read round for yourself though, please! General guidance is a BF% of 17 or less can be too low for some. And if you do decide to do comps have a chat with a doctor about contraception - it can help re-balance some of the hormonal changes. Some of the female athletes I work with have been given that advice as…

The joys of being in control :) Congratulations. Long may all of that continue.

May I just quibble with that bit (and the next bit too, plus the IF is ED, but that would be opinion). Homeostasis can occur at any weight, any bodyfat% etc. It does not mean being at ideal weight etc. it just means at equilibrium. And a person who has weighed 20 stones for 10 years has achieved it! Uber-coffee sounded OK…

Before you start.... that low a bodyfat% in a woman can lead to amenorrhoea - a loss of menstrual cycle. Unless you are an elite athlete and being supported by a doctor, it shouldn't really be a goal. Especially as it is now associated with lack of energy rather than the low bf% itself as has concommitant problems such as…

But you hang on in there.... just in case. Jack Skellington, for example.

Once you get past the presenters inadequacies, that is the basic premise of both documentaries. Once he stops being belligerent for effect the info they highlight is sometimes well known or obvious, but others are weird, government endorsed madness. Anyone who got the point and wants to know more could read Eric…

You can repeat that as often as you like. Repetition will not make it true. And as many people have stated before 5:2, as other IF diets, all reduce calorie intake. That you personally do not like it is utterly irrelevant. Other people do like it and have good results from it, and your opinionated posting are not made any…

Why Richie. Do you not understand why I make finer distinctions? Put your research skills to use and you will find plenty of real science, recent stuff too, that looks at distribution and types of fat as health indicators. We really are NOT all the same!
-
But fat loss is not the correct term, it is another of those 'bro science' things. Adipose tissue and fat, as most people understand them are not the same thing. There are some types of fat you really do not want to lose! Brown fat is one example. Subcutaneous fat is also not the demon we sued to believe it is. It is…

HELLO! May I just correct you there. Go back to the first page and you will see that RICHIE first mentioned fat loss. The OP did not! The rest of us responded to his post! His misunderstanding / misrepresentation! He made a sweeping statement and a tenuous connection - towards the bottom of the first page. OP did not…
