My BIL is much the same. He throws the food from the shovel, sorry, fork towards his mouth and then chases it right back down to the plate, and chews with his now overfilled mouth wide open.... smiling and nodding and telling you how good each gobful tastes.

But niner.... irradiating my food not only removes half of its vitamins and minerals it doubles its calories yet seriously prevents me from feeling full. And anyway, you are horrible. You cannot possibly blame me, I had a childhood!

I'm another who got lost there. Isn't paleo about eating real food, so that, like all foods, would have been in contact with all sorts of erm, stuff. I mean, do you really never ever eat a blackberry straight off the bush? Never wipe dirt of a carrot with your hand and munch it? Pick a peapod, bean and eat it? I am…

I used to wish I had a store of witty putdowns for things like him. But somehow they always manage to ridicule any response - even down to the childish ' woo woo woo woo' noises they tend to make when they have used their whole quota of words. Now I stare at the person next to them and calmly and quietly ask 'do you know…

I can't agree with the first part - know what got you started gives you the power to prevent it happening again. There is some fairly aggressive physiology that prevents maintenance. Not saying you can't just that you have to spend a lot of time managing it or your body's systems will begin to make and store lipids - there…

I picked up a couple of bad habits from Southern hubby - saying ketchup is probably one of them. But seriously, butter on bacon butties?? You need a good divorce lawyer!
-
You need to go back to the OP to work out what the original intention was. And if you haven't seen the programme it probably still won't make sense - as many of the responses show.

Thats the real question that needs to be answered Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer to that one. Even with the human genome fully mapped there is no one answer. It seems to be a huge and varied combination of nature and nurture. There is as much pfaff over that as the reason why once you are fat you have an…

Oh! Forgot about HP. Odd as we always say ketchup or brown sauce.... wonder if there is a North South divide? Probably not :-D
-
Isn't red sauce a tomato based fish or pasta sauce - possibly Italian by extraction if not origin? We do have brown sauce - often known as Daddy's. But I don't know any 'Brit' who would say red sauce and mean tomato ketchup.

Given that - the editor thing - post titles with errors Is there any.... that sort of thing. I am a self confessed grammar/spelling fiend. I can accept typos as human error, but consistent and persistent errors - heurgh! (I won't mention sites that have spellcheck enabled and tell me I am in English then correct everything…

Go on then - it is also nerve RACKING.... Wrecking - to destroy Racking - intensely distressing

ADEK are all fat soluble so you will always need fat in your diet. The amount varies from person to person. As long as you eat some fat you will be OK. The RDA is 70g total fat for women, 95g for men - or 20% of overall intake. http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/fat.asp Try this, it is probably as accurate as any…

Oh thank you! That is the best correlation proof graph I have ever seen :)

If you want fuel for that you'll find lots about WW, Slimfast etc. I quite enjoyed it, despite the failings of the presenter. Made me smile as I have been teaching all of that for years and many students simply don't believe me, some colleagues have problems too :)

LOL - just don't try eating the same foods Phelps, Bolt etc eat when competing. They go for kcal rich foods to refuel, they'd spend far too long eating to train, sleep or compete if they ate only healthy foods. But do up your kcals - and protein levels for recovery. You don't have to go mad. Just add some back in and see…

Beachlron - that is exactly why I started the Men Who Made Us Thin thread - the accompanying BBC programme. The simple facts don't seem to be enough for some when they are desperate for help losing weight. And there is always a business out there to help...... fill its coffers!
-
But some of it is turron....... Ah well. It isn't near me and I can be selfish about it :) Good luck with the willpower

He mixed up physiological responses and psychological responses also, making out like people gained weight faster after diets because of metabolism/physiology, when in fact it was a psychological response to being starved. I agree with the rest of your post but there is a physiological response - very poorly explained in…

Me too! We share a bottle of IPA and other light ales daily. All within my kcals. Even on the Down Days I spare 85kcals for half a bottle.

Wait til you see The Men Who Made us THIN I thought I'd move this to its own thread. I realised I was derailing this one. Apologies.

It was all over the telly here for a few weeks, the Michael Mosely programme, books etc also refer to it, and other similar research. It is out there. As more IF studies are being started they all seem to look at many variations of short bursts of calorie restriction. Journals related to endocrinology have some interesting…

We have chickens, so any sweet cravings I had for breakfast soon disappeared once we started gathering the egg mountain :) I have to admit to having lost almost all of my sweet cravings now. No added sugar and almost no chocolate bars. I reserve my sweet hit for home making on my Up Days. Seems to work now but took quite a…

My diary is firmly…

General advice with colds is if it is above the neck carry on training, though you may want to reduce the intensity a little. If the cold is below the neck, take time out. You don't want to overly stress the respiratory or immune system, or spread your germs!

So, ice cream has all the best music???

That'd be CREAM, would it? :-D (just in case humour doesn't travel - yes, humOUr).

Surely only after the word dunkin'

Well I quoted the bit you posted. Did you intend to say if you drink more water you will hold less? Proof read yourself for sense if you did not.
