I often use avocado in place of mayo... MUCH healthier alternative. I recently made a salad of chunked avocado, green apples, cucumbers, onions, green tomatoes and a variety of herbs with a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Meatless deliciousness!

It depends on what you like. I think some raw almonds and a Granny Smith apple are quick and easy and hold me over until lunchtime (especially if I drink enough water).

I workout to a TurboJam video. While I usually hate HipHop music, it's GREAT for working out. There's one called "It's time to party"... really ramps up my energy level. For housework, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. keeps me dancing while I clean. :)

I rarely eat cereal anymore; but when I do, it's a warm bowl of steel cut oats with berries on top. SO YUMMY! Gluten-free, too!

Every Monday morning so I have no excuses for weekend eating.

Your journey sounds like mine. I would STILL like to see the number on the scale decrease; but more than ever, I REALLY want long-lasting health.

Great post. Thank YOU!

Do you have a copy of the book "Stop The Thyroid Madness"? I'm about half way through mine. So far, it has been SO helpful in helping me learn how MANY MANY pieces and systems in my body are affected by my thyroid. Just when one thing seems in balance, something else seems out of whack. The book's author, Janie Bowthorpe,…

I weigh in every Monday morning after breakfast. No shoes. Same scale. This is what works for me. If healthy changes without weighing is working for you, then go for it! While I am trying to avoid becoming overweight again, the MAIN goal is health. Congratulations on that! :)

I love "Stop The Thyroid Madness" too!!! A real life changer for me. I'm on Armour Thyroid (instead of synthetic) now. In addition, I avoid glutenous carbs and force myself to take naps on the weekend so my body can continue to heal. So far, so good. I'm finally losing the excess weight again (slowly).

No. My TSH has been around 5 and despite healthy eating and exercise, my weight won't drop at that level. HOWEVER, in the past two weeks, I have been transitioning to Armour Thyroid (from Synthroid). I've been able to this with the help of Janie Bowthorp's book "Stop The Thyroid Madness"…

I use the flaxseed in my breakfast muffin recipe and I love chocolate flaxseed pudding (a little like tapioca with crunch).

I'm forty and struggling with my weight in ways that I didn't at 30. Feel free to add me. :)

This happens to me, too. It helps to drink lots of water; but even then the scale will show a 2-5 pound gain. So now, I rarely drink; and when I do, it's vodka/water/lime. Ha! Good luck... I can sense your determination! It's so nice to have this message board feature to interact with people going through the same things.

Raw almonds. They're excellent on their own; but I also like them chopped and sauteed with steamed, fresh green beans and a touch of real butter and sea salt. Or, I make almond milk and dehydrate the leftover pulp to make almond flour for my gluten free, high fiber breakfast muffins. I always keep raw almonds in the house…
