  • The Newman's Own Lighten Up! line of dressings is pretty awesome. They have a lime vinegarette that is perfect for a salad on a hot summer day. Love the sesame ginger with chicken or tuna and rice. Everything from Newman's is good IMHO except for: Raspberry and Walnut Vinegarette :grumble:
  • Anthro is right, stick with some upper body stuff today and give your legs a break. You don't want to miss 2 weeks of running from a pulled muscle!
  • Great advice everyone! I especially like Georg's comment that they are there to serve me and if I want something served a certain way I can have it! I'm so excited!
  • Also, one of the best things I did was subscribe to Men's Fitness magazine. lots of great tips and things to keep me motivated. Just a thought! :smokin:
  • I find the NO Xplode kicks me into overdrive at the gym and delivers a pump like no other. Your veins look like they're going to rip out of your arms which means they're helping to deliver more O2 to your muscles while working out. There is caffiene in it and I don't take more than the smallest serving of 1 scoop. Tried…
  • Recommenations: Note: I'm working out 5 days a week with heavy weights and lots of cardio so this might not work for you! Protein/Post workout: GNC AMPlified Wheybolic Extreme 60 Strawberry Pre-workout: BSN N.O. X-Plode Multivitamin: GNC Megamen Sport 1 cap per day (Too many vitamins in the other supps to take full serving…
  • I'm an Asst. Scoutmaster and the Personal Fitness MB is one of the best ones. It helped me to get motivated to gain muscle and lose weight when I was a Scout. The only bad part is once I was finished with the badge I went back to my old ways :grumble: Back on track now though! :drinker:
  • I say "ef" it! One dinner won't kill you and if you don't partake in what you really want to have every now and again, you'll end up getting frusturated and jump off the wagon. I say go for a walk in the afternoon and then go nuts. Once in a while never hurts and you'll be amazed at how much less you'll actually want to…
  • I'm assuming you're talking about something that you can take to work with you. If I'm incorrect in my assumption, I'm sure someone might find this useful. I recommend grilling up enough chicken breast (boneless, skinless) for the entire week. I use a spicy rub with cyanne pepper, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, salt and…

  • Look for similar items in the food database. This is one of the hardest things to do because you have to measure portions and assume ingredients are similar. I usually err on the larger side and overestimate the portion and calories when I go out and don't know the calories. Its better to overguess and eat a little under…
  • My younger brother just came back from college (nursing) and I asked him to go on a run with me. He said no and now, after we ate, he's going running. I was like really? and he said that it is better to work out after eating to burn those calories off. He's always been athletic and is actually under weight. I feel like it…
  • Lol collar bones for me too! I forgot I had them rofl
  • Wow, 30 lbs in 3 months seems a little quick but good start! If you eat your calories and follow the plan from MFP, you'll see a slower loss but its something that you'll be able to keep off. Remember, it isn't a diet, its a lifestyle change. You can NEVER go back to the way you used to eat because that's how you got…

  • EAT YOUR CALORIES! Its very important to eat almost all your calories every day, including those you exercised off. Read some of the newbie posts that are stickied in one of the threads (I forget which one). You'll understand why you need to do that. Also, its not all about weight, take measurements of waist, hips, chest,…
  • My "go to" food for extra calories is a PB&J. BUT, make sure its on whole wheat or 12 grain bread and measure the peanut butter and measure the jelly. Its about 200 calories and packed with protein and "good" fats.
  • I take a few measurements and I do them all myself using a cloth tailor's tape. You can also get one from GNC that is really easy to use yourself. I'm a guy so I'm concerned with different things than you are, but here's my list: Chest at nipples Waist at belly button Bicep circumference Middle of thigh circumference Hips…
  • I started taking NO-Xplode (a workout supplement, not a fat burner) yesterday and I was super wired from it. I slept fine but the small amount of caffeine (about 1 cup of coffee) that is in it did have me jittery during the day. Its amazing how much your body adjusts when you drink coffee regularly and then stop for a few…
  • Congrats! Great job at losing some weight. Looks like you're on the right path but just a word of warning, the first 10 lbs come off pretty quickly because: 1. Its a shock to your body to not be eating a million calories 2. Water weight is the first thing you lose because you're decreasing your sodium intake by not eating…
  • Want to know the best way to get everything you need for free? One word...BitTorrent. Download software called utorrent and visit thepiratebay.org It will let you download any video you want totally free! It is legal (ok, so more like questionable :smokin: ) to have the movies for free as long as you use them for personal…

  • Best advice I can give you is never lie to the food log. If something passes your lips it goes in the log. If you grab a candy out of the office candy dish or have 1/4 of a donut, it goes in the log. Even if you blow it and you are thinking that its not even worth logging, put it in there. Its a mental check and when you…

  • That sounds good but like tkrull said, up the protein. You should be eating AT LEAST 1g protein/lb body weight that you want to ACHIEVE. Note, if you want to get up to 185, eat 185 or more g protein. Keep the fluids pumping and stick with it. I don't know what you'rd doing with respect to reading materials, but i HIGHLY…

  • Back on another plateau this week as well as eating food that I would like to call "crap". I stayed under my calories but three of seven days involved eating my entire caloric intake in one meal, 2/3 for lunch. Bah! Jan 02 (w0) - 227 Jan 09 (w1) - 224 Jan 16 (w2) - 218 Jan 23 (w3) - 215 Jan 30 (w4) - 213 Feb 06…
  • How do you define a standard size chicken breast? Hence the need for a scale.
  • BUY A FOOD SCALE! The best thing that I've ever done. Found that I was undereating in some areas and overeating in others. They're cheap on amazon, about $25, and are super easy to use. This way, you can enter EXACTLY what you eat and not have to guess.
  • Jumped off of the plateau this week. Jan 02 (w0) - 227 Jan 09 (w1) - 224 Jan 16 (w2) - 218 Jan 23 (w3) - 215 Jan 30 (w4) - 213 Feb 06 (w5) - 213 Feb 13 (w6) - 208 Total loss: 19 lbs :noway: Reduced my calorie goal by 100 calories last week and stuck to them strictly. Also adjusted the fat/protein/carb ratio to something…
  • Whoops! Missed the entry last Friday. Jan 02 (w0) - 227 Jan 09 (w1) - 224 Jan 16 (w2) - 218 Jan 23 (w3) - 215 Jan 30 (w4) - 213 Feb 06 (w5) - 213 Total loss: 14 lbs :ohwell: Didn't drop any weight that week due to my camping trip and the Super Bowl, but didn't gain anything either. Looking forward to my weigh in on the…
  • You won't necessarily gain weight, its just a warning to those aren't in shape at all. It simply means that if you're building muscle, you might notice a gain it weight. Also, are you eating your exercise calories? That's very important because your body is going to be taking up nutrients to build the new muscle. Make sure…
  • I'm looking at your lamb entry. 3 oz is pretty much nothing, so I'd take another look at that one. Other than that everything looks to be in order. Remember to meet your calories or at least come very close every day so your body does not go into starvation mode.
  • Hello everyone. Had a good week, started exercising my @ss off 4 days a week. Feeling really good about myself and still losing weight. Two pounds this week. Also, I'm definitely losing inches (even though I don't measure) because I now have "fat pants". Finally! Jan 02 (w0) - 227 Jan 09 (w1) - 224 Jan 16 (w2) - 218 Jan 23…
