fc, thanks for starting this! Mpg323, thanks for the inspiration to do this. I started walking this past summer and am up to 3 miles in 45 min. Ready to run. Doing a 5k each month, but want to tackle a 10k in May. I’m 63. Ultimate goal is to hike Mt Elbert in Colorado in July 2020.

Two weeks ago, I had a double mastectomy with lymph node disection at MD Anderson in Houston. 16 years ago, I had my 3rd thyroid cancer surgery in the middle of my neck also at MDA. The medical oncologist told me last month the two biggest factors are refined sugar and genetics. She said their studies are showing refined…

Hot & humid here in N. Texas. Ready for fall. :drinker: Enjoy reading how everyone's doing. Joyce, sorry about your sister. Several years ago, my mom was seeing multiple doctors and getting meds that interacted. When she got off some of them, she was much better & back to herself. Hope all works out. Sylvia, know how…

Love reading all the posts! This sharing of everyone's life is so neat: cherries, zucchini, vacations, travel, bucket lists... Liz, same boat, here. You said, "owning my weight" and that hit home. For most of the past decade, I've tried to kid myself about the weight I've gained and how I look and feel. Finally, the past…

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July no matter where you live. Think I had a similar day with Joyce, Pat and Kim. Whether you're going to a restaurant or a friend's party, got to figure what you can and won't eat. We went out with friends to a large salad, buffet, but it was closed so ended up in a Cajun diner. After…

Very relaxing pre-4th of July evening. Been a great day with unexpected rain here in North Texas. Does anyone have hypoglycemia? My endo wants me eating 3 meals with 30 carbs and 3 snacks with 15 carbs. So I finally started. The weight is coming off but sometimes I get sleepy & dizzy. Any suggestions? Katie, glad the cat…

Checking in for today. Going to take a bit to keep up with everyone. Hope those that had a rough day have a great one tomorrow. Those in the hot & humid climates, here's to sweating to the oldies. DrKatie...hope your kitty shows up. We lost our 17 yr cocker a couple of weeks back & miss her. Looking forward to a great…

July 1st and a new month and a restart for me. Goal-setting and support sound great. I'm 57 (58 on the 12th), problems with arthritis for the past year. Hate the pain, life is too short and I truly believe the right foods, exercise and weight loss is my only option to a better, healthier life. Goals for July: 1) eat…

Hi, Ladies! Been a crazy few days here. Lots of people sick with the flu, many in the hospital. Also, several cases of RSV in the little ones. Don't think I've ever had so many friends and loved ones sick. Glad it's the new year with a new start and outlook. Jane, most emotional eating is learned. Years ago, I started…

Hi Ladies, Had a great day shopping with brother, sister-in-law and my cousins from west texas. We managed to eat salads at lunch! Texas weather is suppose to be better this week, so I'm headed out to walk this week. Love the protein idea...don't like to get hungry. When I do, then I eat too much to make up for it. Also,…

Find another endo! After being on synthoid along for 27 years after a thyroidectomy and 2 additional surgeries for mets, I brought up cytomel at my last MDA checkup on Feb. 1st. Endo said no problem. We can try it and see if it makes a difference. It's been maybe the best three weeks in years! Lots of energy and just a…

Going to make some tomorrow. Thanks!

Both! Ginger, my wonderful 14 year old Cocker Spaniel, Prissy, my 3 year old Christmas adoptee, and Belle, our 5 month old Pocket Beagle. The baby is adorable, but I forgot what a @@@@ pups can be! Maybe I can lose some weight chasing after her .

Agree with T. Many of my family are diabetics. Their endos say 5-6 a day to stabilize blood sugar levels. Now, 5-6 meals is 3 meals and 2 to 3 healthy snacks inbetween. If you are not getting enough food, your blood sugar will drop and then you will feel the need to overeat to compensate. I'm hypoglycemic. When I do the…
