I usually spin in 6 or 7 classes a week, and have been spinning for about 3 years. When starting out just go at a pace comfortable for you. A heart rate monitor is very useful if you have one, and then just have fun...:happy:

I am having the exact same issue right now...It seems like my body has gotten use to my exercise routine, so I am going to change up my routine and see if that helps. Good luck with your plateau, you are doing great!

I also found my HRM indicated I burned much fewer calories than what the machines were saying. Now I only go by what the heart rate monitor says....

Today I took a 60 minute spin class and according to my HRM I burned around 590 calories. I am a male around 215 pounds, and I do know weight makes a difference regarding how how many calories you burn.

In the 5 weeks I have been doing this, I havent eaten ice cream or chocolate (two of my favorites) because I dont seem to be able to eat just a small portion. Most other things I will eat on occasion like pizza or hamburgers, however I don't eat at fast food places anymore.

I also bought a HRM this weekend, and am seeing the same thing. I am not burning as many calories as I thought I was. Luckily, I am not eating my exercise calories, so it didnt slow my weight loss, but it was a surprise. I will use my HRM all the time now...

I bought a digital scale at Target. Don't remember the price, but it was reasonable. I use it every day.
