Hey Alyssa- don't give up! I've been on here for three years, and this has happened to me before. I suggest you try exercising more and just be patient. Sometimes it takes a while for the scale to catch up (I know that sounds weird, but I really believe it now). You've got this!

I like a post-weightlifting shake or I get shaky ;) I've tried all sorts of whey protein; isolate is better than concentrate (for protein quality). My favourite is Kaizen whey, vanilla ice cream flavour. I mix it with chocolate milk and half a banana, or coconut water and raspberries or blueberries if I can't afford the…

That's really difficult for you, sorry for your struggles. I agree with the weighing, and becoming more diligent with the logging. It takes a bit of practice to get it right. I noticed last week you at 8tbs of salsa, 1/2 cup of cheese with only 1 oz of nachos. To me this seems way off, and you probably had a heck of a lot…

I eat oatmeal almost every day for breakfast. I add protein powder so it keeps me full until lunch, and I've started adding some Qia to make it more textureful and interesting. I vary the berries and sometimes add cinnamon to change it up a bit. I've also switched up for steel cut oats in the past to get over the gruel…

I used to get hungry every couple hours and snack regularly. I saw a naturopath and he recommended changes to my diet to regulate my blood sugar levels. A side effect was I no longer got hungry between meals, so it may help for you if you want to be less hungry between meals. Here's the advice: 1. Eat large meals (my…

For exercise, I suggest do what works and what you love. When you shift your energy balance (eat less and exercise more) it is usually easy to start losing. Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be. Walking is great, so is just about anything else that you love.

They did do a wonderful study feeding one group of rats diet soda, and another group regular soda. The diet soda group became obese at a faster rate than the regular soda rats and ate more. The theory was that insulin was released in expectation of sugar that never arrived, causing the rats to overeat (probably balancing…

Look at the difference you've made!!! Wow, hope you are feeling very proud :)

Hey thanks- that is about as accurate as you can get, measurement wise. And we are the same age :)

Have you tried vaping? Only way to know for sure would be to stop smoking and see if it changes. One option would be to get a vaporizer and try that for a little while if you still like "smoking" and want to cut out the tar, arsenic, formaldehyde and other chemicals. With a vaporizer you would be inhaling propylene glycol…

Thanks. And that's what got me curious. My friend is 135 lbs, 5'6" and lovely, slim but not low BF. She is curvy and just perfect. Also, thanks on the compliment. Two kids later and I've got the body I never had in my early 20's (thank you MFP) :)

This was really helpful, looks like 20-25% to me based on these photos :)

Thanks everyone, Looks like the median is 20%, which I will take happily :)

Hi Jessica, I've been lifting heavy weights at the gym for the past year and eating at maintenance. I try to eat a gram of protein per pound of weight so am aiming for 130 grams of protein a day. I weightlift 2-3 times a week, and I try to lift as heavy as I can. I weigh more than you do and am 5'4". I've added some…

The only thing I'd add to the post is that tinned tuna tends to be rendered from smaller fish, so mercury levels are lower in them than they are in slabs of mature albacore tuna that you might eat if having a tuna steak or sushi at a restaurant.

Thank you lil!

I know! My toddler was calling from the kitchen and I had to run in front of my computer to get there in time for the flash. In all the excitement I forgot to smile :) I'm smiling now, though...

Thanks Faylina, No particular diet, I'm trying to eat for life. Just watching how many calories I eat in a day, and trying for at least 130g of protein a day. I've also been eating more vegetables and lean protein. Em

Great profile name ;) I'm 5'4" and weigh 130 pounds. My weight tends to fluctuate between 127-132 with maintenance, and I'm at 126 right now as I thought I'd try and get just a little bit leaner. Thanks, Emma

Thanks Upsana I've been maintaining for a year and a half, not sure what a diet chart is, but I have been eating 1,800 calories during the week, and more (and usually not logging) on weekends. I try to eat at least 130 grams of protein a day, and a bit more on days I lift. I weigh myself every day just to make sure my…

I worked so hard trying to figure out how to post pictures, so here are some :)

I know what I would do. Start buying them coffee every morning. Fill skinny's with cream, maybe a couple a day, that should stop the weight loss and help pack on a little bit. Take plumpy's and put just a smidge of ephedrine, crack or some other delicious stimulant in it to wire her up a little bit. Or you could introduce…

Great work Ruthy, and glad to hear you'll keep it up. I can see a difference, and love that you found the exercise rewarding. :)

I would be so hungry if I ate like this!!! Agreed with the protein advice, and cutting down on processed food. Try adding protein powder to your milk with cereals (just add 1/2 or 1 scoop to the milk and stir it in), substiture oats (not the instant packaged kind) for other cereals, or have eggs Make sure you have protein…

Fantastic progress, you look like you're at goal already! Enjoy your success, Emma

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.bc- if you do a pubmed search with the terms "review" and "grain" some really interesting articles pop up, related to diabetes, and refined grains in diets. I suggest you play around here for a bit.
