Thank you for sharing the pain you experienced and now the joy you feel in your successful weight-loss journey.

I live in the Pacific time zone so I was in my kitchen getting breakfast to prepare to go to work. A horrible horrible occurrence that most of us watched unfold on television.
-
I'll admit that I would be very angry if my husband did this.

Hi there. My name is Margaret and I am 66 years old and I live in Hermiston Oregon. I've been walking for quite a few years now and I have walked not only here at home but I have also walked in Botswana. I am unable to run for more than just a little bit because I've had both knees replaced and I find walking much more…

I just took a bag of sugar which weighed 4 lbs according to the package. (They used to be 5 lb bags!!) I weighed 206.6 without the bag (late in the day, fully clothed). Then with the sugar I weighed 210.2. Hmmm. Not 4 pounds heavier. What does this mean? I have no idea! Then I went to my kitchen food scale and the 4 lb bag…

I don't eat them without anything else. I add them to something. Like oatmeal. Or yogurt. They have 5 grams of fiber per tablespoon. I can't imagine just putting a tablespoonful of them into my mouth, although they don't taste awful or anything like that.

First off...if you have to count your shoes...you are not 6'0". My husband is (or at least WAS) 6'1" and he weighs probably 245-250 (he won't tell me). Now tell me who is obese??? The line between overweight and obese can be changed when you lose a couple of pounds or gain a couple.

I'm a woman, age 66, weight 209. I go out in public all the time. I walk. And along main roads where a lot of people see me. 1000 calories is lower than even the slimmest woman should eat. Please reconfigure as many have suggested.

It is truly amazing to discover how many recipes are actually already in the database. Things from my Betty Crocker cookbook. Things from Cooking Light magazine. So it is possible that your recipe may be here. If all the info is listed on the recipe, I'd just enter the name and the nutrition info.

I am wondering if YOU are subtracting the 1000 calories in order to lose 2 lbs. a week?? The calorie level that MFP gives you has already taken into account the amount needed to lose the weight. I would say...trust the calorie amount that MFP has given you.
-
Well there may be some penicillin on that moldy bread. LOL
-
I eat my exercise calories back. With my Fitbit linked to MFP calories burned are automatic.

I started counting calories with CalorieKing early in Oct. 08. I weighed 261. I am now hovering between 188-190. Only one year did I lose "big"....43 pounds. The rest has come off 10-12 pounds in a year. Still exercising, still counting calories, still occasionally going over my limit (like yesterday), still not giving up.

Okay, here is the prospective of an old lady. Yesterday I went over calories by around 700. I had the new McDonald's CBO chicken sandwich for dinner and then a pumpkin milkshake from the same place later in the evening. This morning my weight was up nearly 2 pounds. Obviously I didn't eat 7000 extra calories, but there was…

Back in 2001-2002 I lost 80 pounds. Then regained 90. In 10/08 got serious again and have now lost 80...............again.
-
Maybe you aren't eating enough calories. 1200 isn't the magic number for everyone. I am in the 190 weight area and my calories are 1450.

I can't use Endomondo on the treadmill because it isn't picking up the GPS signal in the gym.
-
I personally love Endomondo and for me I believe the calories are accurate. BUT, I can choose to not eat back all the calories. On Saturdays I walk 3.6 miles to Denny's. It takes me an hour and the burn is around 600 calories. Part of it is going uphill so that adds to it. I purchased trekking poles so when I walk with…

What an encouragement you are!

iPhone and iPad. My iPhone is always with me at restaurants and I do it right there--takes a couple of minutes. At home I am often entering the info as I'm cooking. Second nature now.
-
Throughout the day as I exercise or move for a period of time when I get near the base station the Fitbit snyncs automatically adding calories to my MFP. I use the Endomondo app for my walking and it syncs to the Fitbit. My exercise will show as 1 minute and the calories. I'm keeping track of my walking miles for my own…

I was a very skinny kid and teenager. At age 16 I weighed 128. When I got married at age 22 I was around 140. Over the years I put on 130 pounds. It certainly didn't happen overnight. I don't drink or smoke so eating and eating out was my pleasure. In 2000-2001 I lost 80 pounds. I'd gone without sugar for 9 months. When I…

I have less than 10 friends. I'll be your friend. A friend from Oregon.

I eat whatever I want. I just don't keep things around the house I might want. If we want Ice Cream we go out for it. Etc. In 4 years of working on losing just over 80 pounds I find it is best to not plan on cheating.
-
As an older weight loser I'm not sure I'm qualified to give you advice. I've been seriously working on losing weight for almost 4 years. I had one year where I lost over 40 pounds but the other years have been about 10 pounds a year. Yes, that does get frustrating. I walk, go to a gym, count calories, eat my exercise…

I honestly don't worry about the sugar in fruit. What i worry about is the sugar in a cookie, brownie, pie, cake, candy. But I will still eat fruit. I am sure I go over my limit of sugar daily and largely due to fruit.

I use a Fitbit too and have found that if you wait long enough (through the day) it will add the extra calories burned that you had not entered. Mine gave me an extra 100 this morning. I know about plateaus!! At age 64 weight comes off slowly so sometimes I get discouraged. The first year I was counting calories I lost…

A few years ago I had this and it eventually healed up. For me it only really hurt to walk for the first several feet, then the tendon would stretch out and I'd be okay. I was working in the library at the school then and found that if I stayed on my feet there was no pain. But if I sat down for awhile with the weight off…
