  • You can use epsom salts to make a natural laxative. If I remember correctly, it's about 1 tsp in one cup of warm water. It'll say on the label. My teenage daughter has the same problem, and that works very well for her.
  • One of the important things about getting enough fluids is that, as the fat is flushed out of your cells, it has to GO somewhere before you can weigh less. As long as it's still in your body, it's still on the scale. Water helps to flush all of that stuff out of your body, along with all kinds of other toxins your body…
  • I met my husband when he was 23 and I was 28 and divorced with two kids. He'd never had a girlfriend. I was leery of it at first, but he's truly the love of my life. When I asked him if my past bothered him, he said he loves me for who I am and that everything in my past was a part of what made me who I am today, so no, it…
  • Those would be the categories you want to be over in. Think about it. Your total calories are 100% of what you eat. If you eat less fat and fewer carbs percentage-wise, the total percentage still has to be 100% of what you've eaten, so protein will make up the difference. Again, fiber is something it's okay to go over on.…
  • Well, I entered the recipe in MFP, and it's about 42 calories per cheesecake, 6 g carbs (3 from the lactose in the cream cheese), 6 g protein. No fiber and no fat. :) That's assuming, of course, that you don't put a crust or preserves on it. You'd have to look up the info for those separately.
  • I don't chew it often, or for long, because I have TMJ. It hurts after a while. However, I do like to use sugar-free gum as a deterrrent to putting food in my mouth (I won't do it if something else is there). I don't count it. 5 calories per piece will surely be burned by the act of chewing it for ten minutes, right? I…
  • I have a LOT of them. That being said, the worst are a) Toilet paper has to be the right way. If it's wrong, I have to change it before I can use the toilet. b) Towels must be folded the right way and put in the correct pile. The closet is sorted. I hate when my family helps with the laundry and puts them away wrong. What…
  • You have MFP set as your home page to make it easier to get on and log it every time you eat something. (guilty)
  • For me, getting off medications that had made me gain never made the weight come off at all--it just stopped putting it on. I still had to get it off the hard way. Sorry. I hope it's different for you, but that's what I've experienced, many times.
  • The secret, if you don't have time and money to go to counseling, is to learn to counsel yourself. The most effective way to do that is to a) learn what your triggers are b) make a plan of something specific you can do to help change your behavior (small steps work best) c) positive self-talk--make a list of things you…
  • Major emotional eater here. I eat because I'm depressed, need comfort, and can't care enough about taking care of myself. I eat because I'm bored. I eat because I'm happy and figure I might as well enjoy myself. And, wow, do I eat when I'm angry! I've been known to down a dozen glazed donuts in ten minutes! Awareness is…
  • Having been everywhere from an A cup to a GG cup, I must say I vastly prefer the smaller sizes. My ideal was a 34B. My daughter (an unenhanced 34HH) has been considering reduction for about 5 years now. Small is better than too big. When they're big, it a) causes back issues, b) makes them more likely to sag, c) makes you…
  • I think when you do that, on the higher intake days you need to raise it so your average caloric intake is at your goal. So, if your goal was 1400, you could do 1200 for a day or two, then a day at 1600, and it would average out right. Otherwise, you're still not getting enough calories. Hope that helps!
  • My daughter has that problem. We tried the chews and the gummies, and she was fine with both of those. She just can't do the vitamin tablets--even though she has no trouble with medication tables. Anyhow, definitely try the chews and/or gummies.
  • We rarely do thank you cards, but my sister is a stickler about them, and I always enjoy getting them when I send my nephews and/or neice Christmas/birthday gifts. They're just a quick note that usually says "Thanks for the money. I'll use it to buy a toy." But they're handwritten by my neice/nephew, and it just brightens…
  • I started with the Dukan diet and lost 20 lbs--but after the first week, I was violating the diet more often that sticking with it. After 2-1/2 months, I decided to modify it a little. So I'm doing the first half of the consolidation phase, but also monitoring my calories. That little bit of fruit and bread, and the one…
  • Definitely see if you can find a store that does fittings. I know some exist in California and New York, because I've talked to people from there. In Virginia, there's a small chain called The Full Cup that specializes in hard to fit sizes (my daughter's a 34HH, so we've been going there for years). I'm sure they must…
  • The weight is going to be more accurate. Food fluffs and settles. That's why chips and stuff always say, "Packaged by weight, not by volume." Sometimes, 29g will equal a cup. Sometimes it will be less. Sometimes it will be more. If you're really wanting to track every last calorie, non-liquid foods should be based on…
  • I've heard a lot of contradicting opinions on this. I've heard (from various doctors) that eating late is okay, it's WHAT most people eat when they eat late that's bad. I've heard from other doctors that it's fine, it's the totally calorie intake that matters. I've heard it's bad to eat a lot of sugar and fat late because…
  • My doctor said daily cardio is okay, just lower the intensity a couple days per week. If you want to be able to do strength daily, you have to rotate which muscle groups you train to make sure each muscle group gets one or two days off after you use it.
  • Try sugar-free chewing gum. You'll find you're much less likely to put food in your mouth if there's something already there. So, if you decide to indulge a little, have a couple bites of whatever then put the gum in your mouth. I find plugging that hole in my face is the easiest way to stop shoveling garbage into it! I…
  • My must-have go-to food: sugar-free jello. At 5 calories per 1/2 cup serving, I can eat it as often as I want to fill in the gaps. It's a good "tide me over till dinner's ready in 30 minutes because I'm starving now" kind of snack. I sometimes eat 3 of them in a sitting!
  • I have had issues with this in the past, and have mostly conquered it. Honestly, I don't know any easy ways to tell you how to beat it, though. I wish I did. My teenage daughter is currently on three anti-anxiety meds, and still gets panic attacks. The best tip I can give you is to try and convince yourself (because it IS…
  • There isn't yet. It's in the works. That recipes tag under food lets you enter your own recipes and breaks down the nutritional info per serving. But it also gives you the option to submit them to a database they are compiling for future use just as you suggested. I look forward to that day!
  • I've always been nuts over cream cheese icing. Now I make a fat-free, sugar-free, guilt-free version: 8 oz fat free cream cheese, softened, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 Tbsp butter flavor (trying to keep my fat intake down; you can use 1/2 stick of butter if you want to stay natural), and 1/2-3/4 cup zero-calorie sweetener (I prefer…
