This is exactly it. Now, I will say that I love the idea of having a morning workout, and that's one thing that's helping me get up so early, but I have no desire to go to bed before 10, so that just means that I'm generally going to be a zombie for the day. Early to bed AND early to rise is just not in my clockwork…

Ah, no... that ain't it. I'm not as young and I still function better staying up late and sleeping in than going to bed early and getting up early. Sadly, in order to have ANY personal time, I have to get up early enough to get a few things done before I have to go in to work... early. No morning wrens here.

I agree, too. As long as you don't do this regularly, one day of not paying as much attention is not going to throw you off track at all--unless you eat 3500 calories of sushi in one sitting, you won't even gain a pound (except, as others have noted, in water weight due to the soy sauce). So take this ONE night to enjoy…

They may do that on purpose because high iron impedes calcium absorption. You should take additional supplementation for calcium, and make sure it's at a different time of day.

One more thing... those of you who are getting weird numbers: are you changing the units on the thing? The default height unit is meters, and the default weight unit is kilograms. Be sure you're not entering inaccurate numbers: change the units to feet and pounds or stone, depending on what units you know.

For those of you who think this means you're fatter than you thought, bear in mind that it's talking about BMI, not weight. It compares your weight to your height before making a determination. Not that it helps. I suspect it's not very accurate anyway. BMI doesn't take body fat percentage into account, and this is a VERY…

I'm most like someone from China, and I'm below average both nationally (lower than 85% of the U.S. population and globally (lower than 58% of the global population). And while I'm very close to my ideal body fat percentage and fitness level, I'm still not where I should be, so that says a LOT about what's going on in the…

kasebrad has it right for some of the foods you want. But if you're allergic to soy, like me, you want to stay away from that. But what is missing from that list is dark green leafy vegetables. Spinach, kale, collard greens, etc. And broccoli has a good amount, too. But even eating these things, my osteoporosis risk means…

I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.

So bow down to her if you want, bow to her. Bow to the queen of slime, the queen of filth, the queen of putrescence... Boo. Boo! Rubbish, filth, slime, muck... Boo! Boo! BOOOOO!

Max: "I told you never to say that name!" Valerie: "What, Humperdinck?" Max: "Aaa!" Valerie: "Humperdinck! Humperdi-i-i-ink! Humperdinck, Humperdinck, Humperdinck!" Max: "Nobody's hearin' nothin'!"

I don't think 1800 too much. You have to look at your basal metabolic rate (BMR--what your body needs just to keep your heart beating, lungs working, brain processing, etc.; 1200 calories or more for most people, though there are exceptions) and at least meet that, while eating below your total daily energy expenditure…

To lose one pound in a day, you'd have to have a deficit of 3500 calories. Two pounds in two days, 7000 calorie deficit. If you sincerely doubt your deficit is that high, you are quite possibly losing water weight. Did your sodium go down over those days? I agree that daily weigh-ins can lead to discouragement later.…

Love love love this app. And I've only run the first mission. Because they will keep adding to it, and it continually updates, I think it's worth the money. I totally recommend it!
-
Just ran my first mission, and it was great! I know I ran more than I would've without it, because I had to get away from those danged zombies! The story continues on through the missions, and you learn more about what's happening around you as you go through them. They also allow you to change up the way you run--I've…

There's a more positive attitude! :) Don't forget to drink lots of water, too. That will help flush all that excess sodium out of your system. Good luck--and no matter WHAT happens, enjoy that vacation!

Try the Couch-to-5K program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Along with calorie counting and healthy foods, running for this program and then following it with the Bridge to 10K helped me lose 20 pounds two years ago, most of which I have kept off.

It is impossible to gain two pounds of fat in one week if you're eating at maintenance. You gained water weight because you changed the way you were eating. The same thing happened when you cut down to 1200. Most people (not all) have to give things longer than one week for them to work. Usually you have to wait a month…

Many of those help... but believe it or not, most whey protein mixes also contain soy. So do almost all protein bars. Eggs are also one of the 8 most prevalent food allergens. Just because some can give up meat doesn't mean all of us can.
-
Meat is a concentrated source of protein and other necessary nutrients, and is particularly good for many people who have bean/nut allergies, like me. Meat is also the food that is credited for helping us develop our large human brain. When our distant ancestors began eating meat, in combination with a lucky genetic change…

No, it's not pitiful! Every little bit counts. If you're trying to motivate yourself, know that those little bits add up--and challenge yourself to find different places in the day where you can add more little bits! If you're bored in the middle of the day, go for a walk or turn on some loud music and dance while you…

How about now? I still drink beer, wine, and all sorts of hard liquor on a regular basis, and I'm getting more and more fit AND losing weight. Calories in.... calories out...

One of the jobs of testosterone is to build muscle. Simple. One of the jobs of estrogen is to build fat. Simple. So, men find it easier to build muscle, and women find it easier to... well, to get fat. That's how the evolutionary cookie crumbles...

C25K will get you there with a safe and effective training plan. Just remember to stick to the plan, don't push yourself harder than it tells you to, and don't worry about speed at this point. Until you've been running for a long time, and have dropped some of the weight, just work on building up the endurance that the…

You have been strong for a very long time. No wonder it's getting hard to control--you've held out so long against it and never gave yourself the chance to grieve. I agree that going back to therapy might help you to get the out of control feelings OUT of you so you can focus on being healthy and continue offering the love…

I lost a Maine Coon cat... :)

My first reaction is that any guy who dumps you after you've done something to make yourself healthier and happier and given yourself more confidence is not interested in YOUR happiness, and something else is going on in his head. Like maybe he's not confident and is afraid that the new, better you will pass him by. Or, on…

What you're doing sounds fine! C25K is good, but as long as you're not pushing yourself harder than your body tells you is safe, you should be fine. The standard is to remember that you don't want to increase distance OR intensity more than 10 percent per week, if you want to be sure to avoid injury. Otherwise, keep it up.…

What's the longest distance you've done up until now? If you can make 11 miles, you can make the half. Take a week to rest and then do light runs the following week to see if it gets better. Maybe see if you can schedule some time with a really good sports massage therapist to help stretch it out safely and comfortably. If…
