I've heard light cardio to warm up the muscles, then do your strength, and then follow up with a longer stretch of cardio. Someone told me that the second round of cardio gives you a bigger burn after strength. I haven't verified the truth of that, though. I usually just do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up my muscles…

I would say both also. With weights, you can increase the amount of weight you lift, whereas yoga will always just be body weight. So that should be taken into consideration if you want to lift more than just your own weight. However, for many people body weight can be enough, and you still get the same benefits as other…

Resize your photo at 50% of its current size. Then upload it, and put the location in this, removing the spaces that I've put in front of the img tags: [ img]http://YOURPHOTOLOCATIONHERE[ /img]
-
You have to resize your photo on your own computer and then upload it at the smaller size to photobucket. And I will repeat my earlier comment: you need a : instead of a ; after http You need to use img lower case, not upper And you need a / before the last img (as in /img)
-
First of all, lower case img (not IMG). Second, you had a ; where you needed a :. Third, the last img needs to be /img.

I am 5'4.5" and aiming for 125, though I'm currently more concerned about fitness than a number on a scale. I started at 146 a year and a half ago. I got down to 127 by June last year, but have gone back up and have been hovering around 135. Part of that was losing motivation to exercise in the winter (I hate having to…

Slice of whole wheat bread with a tablespoon of peanut butter and a drizzle of honey. Mmmm!

And if you want guidance, "New Rules of Lifting for Women" is a great book on learning how to lift heavy--like a woman!

Honestly, when you only have 10-20 pounds to go, trying to lose a pound a week can be an unrealistic goal. If you're eating at BMR, your deficit is a healthy one. I've got about 10 pounds to go, and I'm at 0.5 pounds per week as my goal. I've heard others on the site confirm that the less you have to lose, the slower you…

That's a great kind of day. I love it when I feel like I've gotten a lot done and still have energy for more. Those days are becoming more frequent, but it's not every day yet. But I'm going to make today one of those days... :) Let's keep up finding good parts of our days. So much that's posted here is about how…

I notice that most days you aren't even netting 1200 calories. It's hard to get the full amount of vitamins your body needs when you aren't even getting all the calories it needs...

Your gut may have less to do with fat than either bloating or muscle tone. Do you do ab exercises? Do you eat a lot of sodium?

This is the best success story I've seen on this site. Hands down. Congratulations on fighting the demons--and winning. Here's to your continued healing and progress. Peace

^^^ This. Less stress and more time for my personal life, easy choice for me. More stress and less time for what I love, no thank you.

Go to a running store, not an athletic store. They didn't recommend a good shoe for you. I had major tendon issues in my left ankle when I first started. After letting that heal for six weeks (*sad*), I went to a running store and I have not had the problem since getting the right shoes. However, as hard as it might be to…

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's that easy to change your body's natural tendency. However, you can find an equilibrium. Like a few others here, I can get myself going in the morning if I get up and immediately get active--do yoga, go for a run, etc. Then I feel better. However, no matter what I've done, my body…

I prefer MapMyRun... excellent GPS and nice options. I had used JogTracker and RunKeeper and the GPS on them seemed to be touch and go. This one works more often than not.

I'm running my first HM in mid-May, and my training isn't going smoothly, but I don't care. If I have to walk half of it I will (though I hope not to). I can't wait! After that, I'll be doing the Wild West Relay, which is equally terrifying and exhilarating...

I do yoga every day, whether I work out otherwise or not. Contrary to what some people are saying here, yoga can be very intense stretching, along with body-weight training, so I would recommend not doing them right next to each other (i.e., not in the same workout). I do yoga in the morning to introduce flexibility to my…

Just go ahead and drink it. It's not going to hurt you to use up one container. Then you can get the unsweetened when you're done with it. It's okay to eat and drink. Don't stress so much about one indulgence. It's continued indulgences that become a problem.

41, happy marriage, no plans to procreate. There's enough to do!

Eh, don't put down the chardonnay. Just carry it with you out to the dance floor... ;)

41 going on 29. And loving every minute!

Yeah, I've found that I don't generally drink enough water if it isn't interesting. Just adding a little lemon makes me far more likely to drink it down. But this recipe makes me almost crave it!

This is my specific variation on the Sassy Water recipe. One lemon, sliced thin One-half of a large cucumber, sliced thin A few slices of fresh ginger root, slightly crushed Then add two liters of water and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Drink it the next day. The ingredients are soothing to the digestive tract and…
