Men don't have abs at 15% body fat. Some women don't... It's genetics. I'm a female and have to be at about 16% BF before I get abs. A man would need to be udner 10, possibly at 8 to have really defined 6 pack. You can't spot reduce. Be happy that the area is shrinking for now, and work on building more muscle in all areas.

In your profile pic you are holding a baby... New mama? New mamas are notorious for having wrist issues, carpal tunnel, etc. This may be temporary and due to the awkward ways we hold babies :) If not - push up handles for sure, or try your knuckles - use a thick pilates mat or two yoga mats for that though. Yoga will help.…

Sautee the chicken in olive oil and throw some avocado slices on it! Your fats are low, no worries there. Also, eat a cup of rice, not a half cup since your carbs are so low. Are you actually measuring food accurately or just guessing? A 4 oz chicken breast and half a cup of rice is going to look like very little food on…

If others can micro popcorn or re-heat some strong-smelling other foods (my fave is Thai, I bring it all the time, lots of curries :) ), then you can have your fish. A guy in my office took up the micro for 10 minutes at noon "baking" a sweet potato. That was not cool. I had to wait forever to eat.

You're a runner :) You don't have to run far or fast to be a runner, you just have to run. Fair warning - you will get addicted!

You are not a carb addict, you are a junk food/ sugar/ crap food addict. Sorry, but my diet is 60% carbs because I am training for endurance events. My carbs are whole grain pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, lots of vegetables (especially green leafy), and high-fiber beans. I am a carb addict too, but I am…

From the time I was 21 until late 2011 (I was 35 then), Isaid to myself and to anyone who asks, I will never run again for the rest of my life. Then I thought, why won't I? I tried it, and I could only go 0.25 miles. I was huffing/puffing, red in the face, and thought I was dying. And I THOUGHT that I was in good shape...…

I don't know how much advice I can give, but I can certainly be supportive. I have an autoimmune disorder that causes my immune system to attack any mucous membrane tissues. It also causes me to occasionally lose weight rapidly, get fatigue, exhaustion, etc. The symptons are all internal or hidden by clothes, so like you,…

You kicked *kitten* at weights? Then you are not out of shape :) Sounds like you are giving it 110% effort. Keep at it, you are doing it right !!

I would never knock lifting!! Girl anything athletic kicks butt!! As soon as I finish an Ironman (May 2013) I am going to chill on cardio and build as many big muscles as I can :)

<<< Runs like a girl. Try and keep up.

I food process bell peppers and mix in ground beef/turkey to make hamburgers. Google recipes for cauliflower mashed "potatoes". If you make spaghetti, can also food process lots of pepeprs, mushrooms, onions, carrots and hide in the sauce. Are they old enough to cook with you or help you prepare? My daughter was always…

Do you stretch your shins after every run? This is crucial. Stand up, point toes on one foot, and put top part of toes flat on ground so that your foot is curved under. You will FEEL it stretching the muscles in the front of your lower leg. Strengthening - sitting in chair, hold both legs out straight and using feet with…

Return the shoes. That is not normal. Remember running as a kid? Do a couple of quick runs barefoot. If you don't have pain, then you don't have over-pronation that needs correcting. Running should not hurt, especially your feet, and especially not in the beginning. I was given bad advice at a running store too and had to…

My first marathon is in 4 days! EEK!

I use the "runkeeper" app as GPS and it lets me use my own playlists. There are programmed workouts on it, and you can program a workout on it too, but I have never actually used that function.

I do cardio because I am training for an Ironman. I do 15-20 hours a week of cardio :p Lots of reasons to do cardio.. and yes it burns fat which equals losing weight, unless it also makes you hungry and you overestimate your calorie burn/ overeat. HUGE cardiovascular benefits to doing cardio, so why not do it, especially…

Your trainer is crazy! I wouldn't train for a marathon and a body-building competition at the same time... but mixing cardio and strength is perfect. I am running my first full marathon Sunday, and also training for an Ironman. Building/maintaining muscle strength is key. I incorporate lots of yoga and pilates into my…

I wouldn't start by assuming surgery! Start with an osteopath and a physical therapist! A surprising number of knee issues, especially for runners, is really a problem with the IT band (runs from hip down side of thigh and attaches to knee, but rubs over and over and over knee when in motion). Unless serious, it is fixable…

BEANS!!! Get chickpeas and make hummus, put lentils in every soup you make, etc... Black beans are fantastic! Just don't buy canned b/c there are no safe bets out there for what they put in cans. Buy the bagged fresh ones and soak, boil and spend as much time as it takes. Healthy colon from the fiber and no issues from…

What you weigh doesn't matter, it's body composition. Have your body fat measured accurately in a gym, and if you don't have visible abs, you need to go lower. There are tons of ab exercises that are easy to do that will build the muscle, but you won't see the muscle if it is hidden by fat. Even at 19% BF only my obliques…

If it will help you do a workout rather than skipping it, then drink the coffee :) I've been known to drink coffee, a mountain dew, and a red bull before a race.

You look great! I'd say you are ready for bootcamp! Thank you for signing up and thank you in advance for your service :)

LOL!! Point taken :)

And don't listen to people who say don't eat them. I live in TX, and we are the world champions of deep-fat frying. If it fits in your macros and you are counting calories and exercising, why would anyone say that there is anything you "can't" have :)
-
Just wanted to comment, please don't fry food in olive oil. Olive oil heats up and smokes if you get it hot enough to "fry" food. Fire danger :)

Keep whatever you want, but fat rolls are not curves... I've never had curves, but I certainly used to have fat rolls :) I'm a size 2 now and thrilled about it. I love my hip bones and so does my boyfriend. I think people can be beautiful & attractive at any size, but I've never really cared what other people look like, I…

It seems to me like you are healthy and smart! Good for you for not accepting that ridiculous advice to lose weight. In fact, if you pack on some muscle, you may gain weight. At your body weight, if you have stomach rolls, then you probably have a higher body fat % than what you would want (if you want abs to show). I'm…

Overall fat reduction is the way to go. Most women don't have a lot of calf muscle naturally, so it is most likely the amount of fat that is making you unhappy. Some people think that running burns muscle off your legs, so give that a go. It won't hurt, running darn sure will help you burn fat :)

First, don't listen to anyone who says you can't or shouldn't run or that you may have done damage. Crazy talk. Second, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9FSZJu448 ANYONE can run. Third, I agree with putting treadmill at incline. Even 0.5 or 1% will help, plus it will make it easier to transitioning to outside.…
