  • what a great visual! thanks for posting. also, burger king is disgusting.
  • hi there, feel free to add me! we have the same final goal weight :) welcome to MFP and happy losing!
  • Sargento light string cheese - 50 calories and totally hits the spot when I'm STARVING between meals. Plus I get to act like I'm still 6 years old and peel off the strings of cheese
  • take advantage of being in the islands and eat lots and lots of fresh fruit! also try to fit in daily exercise while you're down there, even a morning walk or a night out dancing will help negate those extra calories. have a great time, i am so jealous!
  • great list. thanks for sharing!
  • Sending a friend request your way! I am in almost the opposite situation (dietary restrictions keep me from being able to eat most high-fat/cal foods) so hopefully I can help you brainstorm some healthy eating ideas! Best of luck to you!
  • Thanks for the thread! I guess what scares me is the thought of raising calories, which I'm sure a lot of people go through. My thought is hey, I ate a lot before and look where that got me! But even 1390 calories is still just below my BMR, so I'll just see how it goes and try to eat healthy calories to get me to the…
  • great job! I'm sitting at work craving my usual post-lunch sweet fix, and instead of grabbing a couple Hershey kisses like I usually do, I found myself craving the grapes I have in the fridge! those bad cravings are slowly but surely going away :)
  • thanks for the advice!
  • Thanks, I like that idea. May help me get used to the idea of going into maintenance mode as well, because right now even the thought of eating 1600 calories a day is daunting. I suppose it doesn't hurt to experiment with it!
  • Hi there, I'm 23 and graduated from college a year ago. Everyone talks about the Freshman 15, but no one tells you about the weight you'll gain once you're in the real world and chained to a desk all day...sigh. Anyone can feel free to add me if you're looking for some motivation! The more MFP friends, the better!
  • I'm 5'3" and currently 129 lbs with a goal weight of 122, or just whenever I really love what I see in the mirror. It really depends on your build, but to me, 125 seems like a great weight for someone who is 5'5. My best advice is to rely on the mirror rather than the scale. Go into maintenance mode once you love what you…
  • at your size, a 5 pound loss in less than a month may be a little unrealistic, at least if you're losing the weight in a healthy manner. strength training and lifting weights is wonderful for pushing past those last few pounds. try not to look at the scale and just focus on loving what you see in the mirror. it may take…
  • so glad I found this thread! everyone's pictures are SO inspiring. I don't know how to insert pictures, but my main picture is my "during" picture, I have some other before and during pics on my profile if you want to check them out!
  • good luck to you! As for the JM workouts, they are available at Target or Walmart for around 10 bucks. I have done 30DS in the past (didn't stick with it though) and I'm about to start 6W6P, this time with way more motivation than I've ever had before. Feel free to add me if you'd like so that we can motivate each other.…
  • The best advice anyone can give is to stick with it! Also, try putting the scale away for a day and instead measuring yourself in inches or even just how you feel about yourself. Clothes getting a little baggy? Feeling more energized? Do you have more stamina during everyday activities such as climbing the stairs? Don't…
  • You don't even look like the same person! Even in pictures it's obviously how much more confidence you must have now :) congrats and good luck with the second half of your weight loss journey!
  • great advice. thank you for posting!
  • I'm in too! starting weight is 129.4 :) good luck all!
  • I had no idea I could manually change it - thanks for the tip!
  • Yes, I have heard of that working wonders for people as far as "shocking" their system goes. You could also try changing your workouts (instead of running, try a spin class or zumba, etc.). The body can get used to a workout if it's done repeatedly, causing your workout to be less effective than it originally was. Have you…
  • By all means, take a break! It's only Thursday so that's only a 3 day break. You could always wake up tomorrow ready to work out again! And if not, just pay extra attention to your calorie intake and you will really be just fine. I have anxiety issues as well so I understand where you're coming from, but if your body says…
  • I ran a lot last summer and it caused a great deal of trouble for my hip, which is what prompted me to see the orthopedic about what exercises were best for me. It was bad, I'd go for a 45 minute run and be practically bedridden the next day from the pain. However, I am loving your input about weight lifting! I'm going to…
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I have gotten second opinions, but they aren't much good because the condition I have is fairly obvious (visible even to myself on xrays, noticable limp after a long day of walking, etc.). I have been doing pilates for years just to stay flexible, but obviously that doesn't help with weight…
  • So glad I found this topic! I also struggle to make it to 1200 cals per day (except on heavy workout days or cheat days) and I'm still seeing steady weight loss and feeling full. I even eat some chocolate most days! I worry that I'm eating less than what MFP recommends and I'm scared of going into the dreaded "starvation…
  • I am in a similar situation, and I vote to keep your setting at "sedentary" and log any exercise which either lasts more than 30 minutes or causes you to break a sweat. this should keep your calorie limit a little lower, but it's also probably more honest. if things aren't working for you, you can always change it!
  • if you're like me and just can not give up ice cream cold turkey, weight watchers makes these little mini sundaes (cookie dough, peanut butter cup, etc) that are all around 170 calories and totally hit the spot. they're my little treat every few days :) i love them!
  • wow I'm glad there are som many of us in a similar situation! it can be so tough to lose weight at this size.
  • I'm in the same boat, I have very little "real life" support. My mom and sister are very overweight, and my boyfriend actually needs to GAIN weight! I've been on MFP for a few weeks and the online support is so helpful - adding you now so we can keep each other accountable!
  • Thank you for having the courage to write this - it practically gave me goosebumps because it's exactly what I've felt every day since I was 13. Every now and then I'll come across an old picture of myself and I'm almost shocked by the thin, attractive person I see, because I know on the inside I dreaded having that…
