  • Just got back from another toodly little ride. 30 minutes of lovely pedaling in the sun. I had to swerve to avoid geese a few times, while pedaling past the duck pond.
  • Forty minutes today, so far. Might squeeze a few more in later this evening. I think I found a new (less trafficky) way to ride to work, too, which is excellent news.
  • Hey Octo, 50 minutes for me today. Into a headwind the whole way to work, but a very nice ride home.
  • And here I was, tearing my hair, trying to figure out how to fit a ride in on top of other commitments (including exercise) some days. Now I feel sure I can meet the challenge, and I'll still try to bike each day!
  • Okay, I'm in for a try. If I miss too many days, I'll just be a mascot or water-girl or something...
  • I think that's the most important point to keep in mind--that you are just setting up a good base right now. The more you keep running afterwards, the more you'll be able to improve on speed and/or distance, depending on your preference. It took me a few weeks after finishing the program to drop down to a 33 minute 5k,…
  • I agree with this advice. Walking is great for improving your endurance and comfort overall, but I think the only thing to improve your running endurance is plugging away at the running intervals. Even when you're running slowly (even ridiculously so) that will push your running endurance. It just takes a good bit of time…
  • Someone told me about these recently: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-SNKBLLS1.html I haven't tried them, but kind of want to order some just for the smiley skulls.
  • Thanks for that. I should have been more clear that I meant sleeves for arms. It was easier to understand the leg ones, and I'd read some of the RW bits on them. I figured the arm ones might just be for temperature control, but then heard/read a few folks talking about compression (arm) sleeves, which got me wondering.…
  • Aside from MFP, I love: Runkeeper (routes, journaling, and pace/calorie info for running, but also hiking, walking, etc.) MapMyRide (similar to Runkeepr, but I use this one for biking) Couch to 5k (to get started or re-started running) Bridge to 10k (good inspiration to up distance safely) Arookoo (for silly walking fun)…
  • Great idea, did one get created already? If so, I'd love to join if someone points me to it. I think it would be great to have one to encourage people of all running levels, whether we're just beginning or just trying to improve where we are. I've been running on and off for a couple years, but just got more seriously into…
  • Great tips here, thanks to all. I saw someone earlier ask about compression sleeves, but didn't notice any responses. I always see those at races, but still don't quite get them. Is it to keep warm, keep muscles feeling more limber, or something else? Does anyone here wear them?
  • I just happened to see this thread--thanks for starting it! I've only been on MFP for a few weeks, but am finding it super helpful so far. I don't really do the "diets" thing, but am committed to being as healthy as possible while still celebrating food (and drink). I've been using MFP to get a better sense of how my food…
