Here's another vote for training for smaller distances first. It's so much fun to hit your goal and run a race earlier on that I'd keep the half as your eventual (October) goal but focus more primarily on some 5k races and then 10 races in the meantime. That way you have those intermediate goals to keep you motivated while…

I'm running the Western Pacific Half Marathon on May 5th. It's part of a series of smallish local races in my area and seems like a good way to get back into the longer distances. I'm excited about this one because a lot of it follows gravel or fire trails--so it won't be all on pavement!

Linnea, I'm running a half the day before you do and using the same program to train! I've run half marathons before, but in the very distant past. I love the 10k distance but want to take several months to slowly bridge the difference between 6 and 13 miles so that I can really enjoy the race in May. I joined a half…

23/100 I committed to 100 miles and have completed 23 so far. Between the run I'm about to go on and tomorrow's planned hike, I'll be in good shape to hit the halfway mileage point by mid-month.
-
I'm going after 100 miles this month. I've met that one before, so I'm going to push myself to do it again this month. Thanks, folks, for keeping the challenges going!
-
Arghhh..I didn't make my goal mileage this month. Riding my bike less has a bad effect on my moving-challenges. I finished up with a grand total of 97 miles--mostly running and walking, with only a teeny bit of bicycling thrown in. Will see if I can do better in December. 97 miles completed for November.
-
Last updated on Nov. 3. Since then I've run and/or walked another 25 miles. That brings my total for November to: 32 miles completed / 130 miles goal

Hi all! My name is Liz and I live in Northern California. Used to run more distance years back, then let myself fall out of habit before picking up running shorter distances with my partner a couple years ago. Now I'm running mostly 5ks and 10ks, but have a half marathon picked out for Spring! Next race is likely a 10k…

I'm up to 7 miles so far, and just about to update my signature to reflect the new miles.
-
Had a quick run of 2.5 miles tonight, plus about a half mile walk. Happy to be at 3 miles on day 1!
-
I fell a bit short last month, but am back to try for 130 miles in November. Running, walking, and biking combined (I didn't add in enough of my bike miles last time around).
-
Another 13 miles of runs and walks over the past couple days. Just updated my sig to 74, and am hoping to get another 6 miles in via biking tonight...just to get up to 80.
-
Just updated my sig to 61 miles. Since I last posted I've run 3 miles, walked 7 miles, and biked 8 miles. Going to get another bit of a walk in this evening, and then should log some good miles this weekend since I have a slightly longer run planned, a leisurely bike-ride date, and am sure to fit some walking in.

Glad I found the new page. I've finally chosen my half for the Spring, which will be in April. Now I have a nice long training period, with some 10k races in the meantime, along with a few 5ks and one mud run in just a couple weeks!
-
I've put in 19 miles since my last update, so am about to adjust my signature to reflect that. Since my last log-in, I've run 9 miles, hiked another 9 miles, and walked 2 miles. Have to get moving more, now that things are a teeny bit less busy than they have been...
-
Did a 3-mile run tonight, so will update my ticker now--am up to 24 miles for Oct.
-
I ran 3.5 miles today, so I'm up to 21 so far. Will update my sig to reflect that now!
-
10/1 = bike ride of 11 miles 10/2 = a 4.5 mile run, and a 2 mile walk Will update my signature now to 17.5, and try to get a walk in later today after the gym.
-
I'm in for my second challenge, and am increasing my miles a bit to aim for 125 this time around. Will focus on running and walking for those miles, but may drop in some cycling now and again. I'll update my signature tomorrow when I start posting October miles.

Although I've been terrible about posting regularly, I did reach my goal for the month! Walked on 9/21 & 9/26 for a total of 5 miles Ran on 9/22, 9/24, 9/27, and 9/29 for a total of 14.5 miles Biked on 9/23 & 9/28 for a total of 11 miles Together (and added to my previous total of 75 miles) that brings me just over my goal…
-
Glad to see all these great tips. I'm doing my first mud run next month!
-
Ran on 9/17 and 9/20. Walked on 9/18 and 9/19. Just updated sig to 75 miles.
-
Four miles on my bike today. Updating signature now.

I've kept moving, but have been terrible about checking in here--the start of a new term always scatters me. Last time I posted in the thread was 9/8. I'm now up to 58 miles total (including today's run, scheduled to happen in about 10 minutes) 9/9 = 2 mile walk and 3 mile run 9/10 = 4 mile hike 9/11 = 4.5 mile run 9/12 =…

Popping in a day late to log my hike (just over two hours) for 9/10 and my run (just under an hour) for 9/11. Back to my bike for a ride later today. Good challenge--there were a few days where it definitely gave me a little shove out the door.
-
Today was a substitute day again--all set for a 5k race this evening, and didn't do anything other than a little walk around earlier to loosen up my muscles after working all day.
-
Did L1D4 today, with slightly heavier "weights." After having read about so many folks injuring themselves, I may have been overcautious as I began this shred. So far I feel great, very little stiffness, but have been taking it easy weight-wise as you can see below: Day 1- did it with no weights at all Day 2, 1 lb weights…
-
With a run and two bike-rides over the past couple days I'm now up to 34.5 miles, with my ticker updated.
-
I just got a nice little 30 minute ride in for 9/8.
-
Forty minutes of bicycling in today...riding to and from the Mexican restaurant may have balanced out the tacos I ate for dinner.
