Got five miles in on the bike today, and updated my signature. Going for a teeny run in a bit, just to meet up with my partner on the way home from work...so I might get another mile and a half for today's tally...

That plan sounds like a good one, summertimegirl. Ambitious enough to get you going, but with an eye towards moderation and taking care of yourself at the same time. I have to say, with the ridiculous schedule of my past week, I'm glad I'm not registered for anything bigger than a 5k til late next month. I've been active…

Just got my bike ride in for the day. Maybe will have time to squeeze in another short one later today...

I've also been feeling 30DS in my knees, especially my knee with ACL issues. I've started to just go very gently on the lunges on that side, and that seems to be taking care of a lot of the issue. Of course, I am also very focused on form during the squats, just to be sure I don't stress the knee. My goal is to keep going…

I know the challenge is all about daily exercise, but it does seem like a triathlon would balance things out a bit...

Busy weekend so I was bad about updating. Just changed my signature to reflect weekend miles: 9/3 = 4 miles 9/4 = 1 mile 9/5 = 4 miles I'm also getting outside today for some kind of exercise, walk, bike, or running, and will update again.

Hey Octo (and folks), got my 30 minutes on the bike in today, and another 30 yesterday. Hope everyone is having/had a good weekend!
-
Not sure when I last checked in here, but I've hit my 30 minute minimum each day of September so far...just not always by bike.
-
Exactly! Plus, what's better after a long run (or whatever exercise) than a cold beer???
-
I've completed 8 miles so far, between running and walking. No ticker, but it's updated in my signature.

Even though I'm waiting til Tuesday to take on Day 3, I felt like reporting the fact that I feel better after Day 2 than I did after Day 1--and that's even with using weights the second day. My knees are the tiniest bit creaky, but they don't hurt. This makes me happy, since I'd read so many posts about people hurting…

Have you tried a shorter run lately, to see how your pace compares to before you started the distance training? I've found that even when my pace remains slow on longer runs, that training translates into faster times when I bounce back to a shorter run.

@momocurti, it could be the mat I suppose, but I'm leaning towards another poster's explanation that it's just my muscles getting used to it all. I am using a pretty decent yoga mat that I've often used for abs work before. Today's workout felt a bit better and harder, since I used the weights this time around. We'll see…

Just getting into homebrewing, but I'm intent on keeping booze as a regular (reasonable) part of my routine--so it's nice to see a thread like this one! I'm posting in part just to be able to find other beer lovers later on. I also work part time in a (spirits) distillery, which means frequent opportunities to sample great…

Thanks for the reassurance! I've heard lots of good things about 30DS, but also seen plenty of warnings about people getting hurt, etc. That's why I set up so I could see the mirror and also did the first day with no weights. I guess I'll try Day 2 later then...sigh.

For those of you who've done this video before--did you experience any stiffness in your back muscles the following day? My arms and legs are fine, but I've been feeling like a granny as I hobble around today... I did keep an eye on my form in a mirror (as much as possible, given the pace of things) so I don't think I was…

Sore arches, bleh. Hope they're better soon, as I just went through a bout of that myself. Which means I've also been running shorter distances this week--just a 5k last night--and hoping to do a longer run Saturday or Sunday.
-
Today is one of my substitute days...I ran, but didn't make it to the bike. Tomorrow will be a different story!
-
I just did the first day, and then found this topic when I came to read more about what folks had to say. I didn't find Day 1 too bad, but maybe that's because I was a weenie and didn't use weights this time. I'll use them tomorrow, but I wanted to try it first just following along. I'll be happy to check in here from time…

I'd like to join in here, too, although my timeline is vague as far as registering for an actual half. I just know I'd like to do one in the Spring sometime. Right now I have a handful of races lined up for the next few months (I try to do at least one a month): Early September--5k Early October--7k Later October--10k…

This is my first time to join in on this challenge, or even to create a ticker, so we'll see how it goes... I will be counting my running/hiking/walking miles.

Got my thirty minutes in today by biking to the gym and back. We miss you, Octo!
-
Easy little thirty minute ride around the neighborhood a bit ago. Heading out for a run tonight, so didn't feel like biking for too long this time out.
-
I love beer, cheese, and all sorts of other foods that often get described as "forbidden" or "bad." I cook, bake, and experiment with foods on a pretty consistent basis, and would find it very limiting to dole out calories (since my personality just doesn't tend that way). On the other hand, I love how it feels to run or…

I rode the stationary bike at the gym today since I was in a reading mood. Nothing like finishing a novel while fitting in 90 minutes of pedaling.
-
Only got in 20 minutes of bicycling time, but made up the rest of the 30 (and more) circuit training today. Gym was muggy, ick.
-
Thanks again for this challenge, Octo! I'm stuck in grading hell at the moment, but getting away for a short break since I HAVE to keep my 30 minute cycling promise! No bikes for me tomorrow, though, since I'm running a 5k race. But that, with warm-ups and stretching and all, will net me 30 minutes for tomorrow. Then it's…

Got my 30 minutes in this morning, once again by taking long ways around during errands. All grey and misty and quiet, it was the perfect time to be out for just a bit.
-
Got my 30 minutes in today by going the long way around to the gym. What's up with all the wind lately? Wind, earthquakes, everything is wonky.

I used 'Ease into 10k' on my iPhone, and liked it as a refresher for running. I didn't actually research other sites, though, since I downloaded it as a mistake when I was looking for C25k apps. It worked as a nice, easy program to follow.
