  • L.M.T. here, the advice to change your activity level is correct. However, if you are curious about your expenditure, wear a heart rate monitor throughout your work day for a few days and take the average. That gave me a good idea and hope it helps you, too.
  • You might also consider changing how you use your bike time. HIIT training on your bike will give you more bang for your buck in the same time period. Best of luck to you!
  • Another consideration for trx training might be to wear a weighted vest while you train. As long as you can maintain proper form and balance it would add additional resistance.
  • You might check out Body beast from Beachbody. My daughter loves it and it is weight training only.
  • A ranch dressing packet, non fat greek yogurt and skim milk. Inexpensive, low fat, high protein and tasty.
  • I like to use plain greek yogurt and add vanilla and either stevia or splenda to sweeten. Both to taste. Keeps the protein high and the sugar low.
  • I like to prepare a double batch of steel cut oats and portion it out into 1 cup plastic containers. Keep it in the fridge and just pop it in a bowl then microwave to reheat. It is a week worth in 30 minutes of prep and cook. Couple that with a serving of greek yogurt (26 gr of protein) and you have a great, fast breakfast.
  • Things that are lovingly made for you, suggests the person who made it for you loves you as well. Of course you don't want to hurt their feelings. Be gracious, tell them it looks delicious, but you are going to pass on that tastiness for the moment.
  • Under the goals section, you can choose "Custom". From there you can enter your calorie goal as well as your percentages for your macros. Hope this helps.
  • A caliper will measure body fat accurately. It is not electronic, but you may need someone to help with measuring. There are three points on the body to measure. For women, those are the back of the arm (tricep), just above the iliac crest midway from the navel and the middle of the quadricep. As for HRM, I also use Polar…
  • Most low carb macros have the fat set between 60 and 70 percent. One of the previous replies mentioning coconut oil is on point as well as the response from the first person to answer you. The sites I like to use for ideas is All Day I Dream About Food, Low Carbing Among Friends and George Stella. They are all really…
  • Keep in mind, as you lose fat, your measurements will change all over. We cannot change our genetics, however, you can train in a manner that balances your proportions. Lighter weight and higher repetitions with regard to leg work might help minimize the appearance. You might also consider what kind of exercise you are…
  • I use 1 tbls of coconut oil, 1/4 c heavy cream, low carb mocha mix (I use equal parts dark cocoa and splenda with a dash of salt) and 16 oz of coffee. Use a blender or immersion blender to mix it. The coconut oil will float on top otherwise. This is 340 calories. I use it as breakfast also and love love love it. My days…
  • This is great advise and great gym etiquette. Well said.
  • You can sure add me if you would like to!
  • When following a low carb way of eating, a high fat (70%) diet is very important. Our body uses that fat to convert it into a usable carbohydrate (ketones) for energy. If you aren't getting enough fat and you are restricting your calories, your body might see it as a starvation of sorts. Metabolically, your body could be…
  • A great blog that I follow is alldayidreamaboutfood.com It is a low carb and gluten free site. She has some fantastic recipes. I bought two of her cookbooks and they are super. She includes nutrition with her recipes so you know what the net carbs are. Really is a great resource for people like me who enjoy their baked…
  • I had cystic acne as well as little bumps on the back of my arms and dry skin. A also had a rosacia looking redness and a "rough" texture to my skin on my face. I started low carb on Nov. 1. I noticed the improvement in my skin about two weeks after. I also have PCOS and I haven't had any problems at all with any ovarian…
  • You can add me, also. I like to learn about other people, also. Sometimes, I get stuck in a rut.
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk is great to bake with. I use it to make low carb muffins. Very tasty.
  • Try not to weigh daily. That freaks you out. I weigh once a week. It is just way to stressful and well as obsessive for me to weigh daily. Weekly keeps me sane as well as motivated to see some change, so less likely to fall off of my program.
  • This is sound advice, also.
  • My thoughts: Don't rely on your scale alone. The numbers under your feet aren't the only thing to pay attention to. 140 pounds of bricks looks alot smaller than 140 pounds of feathers, but it is still 140 pounds. Use your tape measure. Use your body fat percentage and lean muscle mass as a way to also keep track of your…
  • I have sent a friend request! Other low carbers, feel free to add me also!
  • I am on my third round of Tapout XT, and just got the second TapOut and will be starting that soon. I love Tapout. I would recommend you get a heart rate monitor to measure your calorie expenditure. Everyone works at a different level of intensity. As you get stronger, you will find your intensity level will grow as well.…
  • I have been on the Atkins plan for almost four weeks now. I am feeling very good. The first two days of induction, I was tired as my body adjusted. I have had blood sugar issues, but since I have started the Atkins plan, my energy levels have remained high and stable. It also has helped me get a grip on my sugar cravings.…
  • I am currently in the induction stage myself. I found some chocolate candies made by Atkins that are suitable for all phases. They are delicious and taste just like M&M's. Perfect for me when I am jonesing for something sweet. They are the Atkins Endulge Chocolate Candies. Only 1g Net Carbs.
  • My thoughts are that nothing should be taken to extremes. In my opinion, it helped me to experience a little hunger because it helped me reconnect with my body in a healthy way. I was a mindless muncher throughout the day. In order for me to gain some control, I needed to re-learn the signals of my body and what it needed.…
  • So many of these posts resonate within me. I found I had to really limit my alcohol consumption. I have to have a 2 drink limit, otherwise I start making poor choices. If I drink, the next day I feel terrible and the craving for sugar as well as fat just overwhelms me. Heavy breakfasts like chicken fried steak, hashbrowns,…
  • Feel free to add me also, I am in need of the support for sure!
