Ok I'm in - I already do this - fill in my food diary daily, complete 30 mins exercise (walking), so I would like extra challenges. I've signed up to the squat challenge. Anything else anyone is doing? I think by setting challenges we motivate each other.

It's all about balance... intake vs output - If you eat too many calories for your height/weight you'll put on weight if you stay under your 'calorie' goal and increase your exercise you should lose weight. Keep on doing what you're doing 45lbs loss is amazing - just keep on top of it - you'll get there in your own way much safer etc. You'll also have the pleasure of knowing to quote a song "You did it your way!" Well done.

Good for you - wanting to do it on your own - the great thing about MFP is you are not alone - lots and lots of other people in exactly the same situation want to lose weight and get fitter. MFP allows you to do that - if you monitor your intake vs your output exercise wise it shows you where you need to 'up your game'…

It's all about being honest and logging everything. If you have a 'bad' day don't worry compensate by having a 'very good' day. It's maths at the end of the day - Log your calories eaten, log your calories burned the difference will be weight on or weight loss. To lose 1lb in weight means you need to lose 3500 calories…

I'm 56 decided this was the New year when I finally would - lose some weight and get in shape! So far I've lost 10.5 kg (23 lbs) since the beginning of december - would like to lose another 5-10 kg if that's possible without looking gaunt!
