  • I have the Fitbit One - it's excellent - it motivates me to move more - the eating less bit I have to do myself - that's where MFP comes in ! The two in combination are excellent - I've had the One since a year past December lost over 2 stones and have kept it off - eat normally but walk more than ever before but fitter…
  • Sorry to hear that ladies - what went wrong? Was it a case of stopping logging, an injury? I think it's the hardest part of losing weight is the keeping it off! I've lost over 2 and half stones but I've managed to sustain it - not by starving or restricting myself but by walking a whole lot more than I ever did before. I…
  • Excellent! What a fantastic journey you have been on. Lots of dedication shown there! Well done you! Thanks for sharing inspiration for all
  • Fantastic progress - Amazing job - well done for all your hard work and determination. You started at the same time I did back in Dec 2012 - I think I'm at 401 days logging - you have lost almost double mine - although I have been in maintenance for a couple of months but am going to lose a few of the Christmas pounds that…
  • I started my campaign to lose weight last December (6th to be exact) - I lost 30lbs by the end of March 2013. I have managed to lose a few more pounds but I'm now where I'm happy with my weight but want to reduce body fat. I initially started the 5:2 diet where you are restricting how many calories you eat - for a woman…
  • I use the Fitbit One - have done for the past year. I do think it helps keep me motivated which in turn helps with my weight loss etc. lots of models to choose from but I have no knowledge of them. Good luck choosing
  • That's exactly the attitude you need! I started last year on December 6th - I know because it was the same day I started logging daily on MFP and got my Fitbit One. Get started get focused and start losing! The sooner you start the sooner you start losing - by new year you could have lost your first pound or two! Good luck!
  • What was the first thing you changed to get healthy? Logged on to MFP daily and buy a Fitbit One 6th Dec 2012 What was the hardest for you to change? Stop snacking - I ate chocolate two or three times daily what is your start weight? 93.7 kg What is your current weight? 77.5 What is the best part of your journey? Feeling…
  • Hi - you've made a good start - you've signed up here! It's all about being aware of what your body 'needs' vs what your body 'does'. A lot of the time you eat the junk or the chocolate or sweets it's because you're bored - before you have it ask yourself "Do I really need this?" if the answer is no then don't bother. To…
  • HI If you have not done any running before and jumping straight into a 5K I'd advocate a bit of caution. You will have to take it very slow and steady - you should find a nice running pace and if possible still to be able to hold a conversation (that will give an indication your pace is ok) Try to avoid walking - running…
  • Excellent post - Inspirational, moving, failures and successes - Well done. You can serve as an inspiration to us all - Good luck and thank you for sharing
  • I've been using a Fitbit one since last December - I think its great! It logs steps taken, stairs climbed, distance travelled (you can put in your stride length ) and even logs how restless you are sleeping ! It also syncs with MFP - it doesn't measure non walking /running e.g weight lifting etc but overall it's very good…
  • Excellent advice. It's all about personal improvement. Your first time is very good as is your improvement so well done. My 1st 5K was in May - I did it in 28:53 - my best time is 23:16 but I still feel I can improve. The most important part to me though is running the whole route
  • Mapmywalk or mapmyrun or mapmybike all free all give you estimation of distance , route and calories burned. They tend to overestimate the calories but a good guide
  • Tried on my son's(18yrs old) 32 inch jeans - they fitted and they were pretty loose! Considering I was measured for a dinner suit 3 years ago and was told I needed a 38 inch waist ( I went for the 36 inch) and now I'm in a 34 and fitting loosely - I'll take that as my NSV of the week! Well done to everyone for their own…
  • I know the feeling I was a 38-36" jeans - tried on my sons 32" - on without a problem even some room to spare! Great NSV for you though from 44" !
  • If it's movement involving steps yes - it doesn't take into account your 'effort' but will record your steps - the more steps the more calories 'earned'
  • I have a Fitbit one and love it - if I lost it or drowned it I would by another instantly! It motivates me to move around more than I would. It is simple and easy to use, I've synced it to MFP and this seems to work quite well. I also use a Heart rate monitor for those occasions that don't involve moving e.g. weights. The…
  • My diary is open - nothing special I'm afraid but I do try to eat healthily most of the time with the odd treat or three!
  • Well done - hard work and determination have paid off! You can be an inspiration and role model for others - Great achievement
  • Hi - You've come to the right place. There are some amazing people/stories on here, most of the time they are doing by using Myfitnesspall (MFP) to log and help them keep track of their exercise vs how much calories eaten. Here is my understanding how it works - to lose 1lb in weight you have to 'lose' 3500 calories - this…
  • I always acknowledge other runners, dog walkers etc - It's only polite isn't it? If they ignore or turn up their nose then Pah! to them they are obviously not a sociable person like ourselves! Well done you for being polite and trying
  • I use Sworkit - free app Android and Iphone/Pad and also Skimble - both are good workouts Good luck
  • I think this lady has it spot on- I also used the 5:2 concept to start losing some weight and when it was my 'restricting' days around 800 -1000 calories I didn't find it too difficult. I think the key lies on this very program - MFP - if you log everything you eat and everything that you do you can see how well you're…
  • I decided to go down the route of a GPS watch - quite fancied the new Tom Tom multisport but it was not being release until August sometime. I read all the reviews I could - DC Rainmaker does excellent reviews on all this stuff I finally settled on either the 910xt or 310xt As I'm only using it to help me keep fit, do some…
  • I personally don't think anyone needs the Slim Fast type product - it's not sustainable as way of keeping weight off. The real solution lies on this very application - Logging what you eat vs how many calories you burn will tell you whether you will put weight on or lose weight. To lose 1lb you have to lose 3500 calories…
  • Hi - Lots of folks from the UK. Lots of friendly people that help, support, advise, help when you're down, help when you need motivated - all it takes is the commitment to log and keep logging. The MFP is simple but brilliantly effective, lots of other keep fit items synchronise to it to help you monitor your activities…
  • Brilliant love the chunky dunk reference - Excellent! Thanks that made me smile! "Sweat is your fat crying" "Obsession is the lazy word for Dedication"
  • "Change is constant and the only constant is change" "You are what you eat" "It's better to burn out than fade away!"
  • Well done - Transformation indeed! Looking good
