I'd restrict fruit until your body adjusts to your new diet. I agree with the other posters as well, the 10lbs in 1-2 weeks are generally larger people who lose quicker. When you're only 10-20lbs from your goal weight it's much harder to lose weight so it really depends where you're at. My own personal experience is I was…

I'm pre-diabetic too, you can add me as a friend if you want. We are very close in weight too. I am on the Keto diet and it's helped me lose 40lbs but that is a low carb diet which doesn't include a lot of fruit.

ARGH I'm in a similar situation! I hope she doesn't see this - LOL. I try to help her all the time because she asked for my help but then doesn't want to go to the gym together or walks. I got all excited to have a gym/fitness buddy and nope :( I figure when she's ready to commit to it she will stick with it.

I watch the show sometimes and it's frustrating to see their SOs bringing them fried chicken, take out etc. If my SO was struggling with their weight so much that it became a health issue it would be time for a little tough love and a Dr visit. I know I'd get yelled at, begged for food and they'd be cranky but it's the…

Family members telling me how to exercise or diet- don't run, it will hurt your joints and you'll get arthritis, eat carbs just eat less carbs because it works for us, etc. They laughed at me when I told them I was cutting out carbs and sugar and said "yeah good luck with that". I am actually interested in running now that…

I wear my fitbit on my non-dominant hand and I have it set up that way on their website. I donno what you are doing differently but I went shopping once and it only counted like 2,000 steps and my friend had over 20k. So I started putting it in my pocket and it was much more accurate after that. Some people even attach it…

After losing 30lbs you may need to recalculate your daily goals as well.

I started bringing coffee from home and noticed I started losing again. My order every day was always "a grande blonde with a splash of steamed heavy whipping cream". I always specified heavy whipping cream and not half and half to avoid sugar. I think Starbucks was adding too much HWC to my daily coffee adding tons of…

I have both a fitbit charge and a Samsung Gear S2. The fitbit is best for sleep tracking and it syncs with MFP easily. It also sends you a weekly report with all your steps through the week, sleep, stairs, etc. The S2 is nice because I get my texts on it and it maps my walks but it doesn't sync with MFP or track my sleep.…

Yes!! That moment when green ranger became white ranger :open_mouth: Beast wars/Beasties were both good too. And Reboot.

I use almond milk or full fat cream. You don't need much heavy whipping cream to turn the coffee a light brown color like you're talking about. Some people add coconut oil and butter to create bullet proof coffee too but I'm not sure if that's for me.

Before you go off on them tell your supervisor they are distracting you from your work trying to sell you weight loss products (which is implying you need them and therefore implying you're overweight). It absolutely could turn into an HR issue if it continues.

Did you select the correct activity level (sedentary, a lot of walking, very active etc)? If you're just starting can you take a trip to your Dr and get weighed in there and talk about a diet plan that would be best for you?

I'm doing keto/LCHF! Anyone feel free to add me, my diary is open as well.

What's the reason for not eating steak if you want some? You should have some blood tests run to see if you're low on anything, not just iron. It won't hurt to see your results and be 100% sure :) I always test very low on iron and I can tell because I would always feel sleepy. I didn't notice a craving change.

I put tumeric in things I'm already going to season strongly, like curries, hamburger patties, meatballs, sauces, etc. I wouldn't put it in anything like plain yogurt because that's all you'd taste. If you put it in a smoothie just add a banana - bananas tend to neutralize and hide things that normally wouldn't taste good…

I took my time and continued to focus on nutrition only after baby. I was told to wait 6-8 weeks then start exercising SLOWLY. I ended up waiting 4 months or so before starting any big routines but that was my choice. We had a hospital that was partnered with mom and tot walking groups and many other resources so they…

It doesn't work for everyone and that's ok. #1 is especially hard because I really like fruit smoothies, macaroni and cheese, everything my family makes. It's a LOT of food substitutions. Grocery shopping became much easier as time went on because I quickly learned what was low carb and what wasn't. Unlimited greens…

Every day when I first wake up, because if I do just one day it might land on the day I'm retaining too much water, lol.

Everyone's given you good advice so far. I'll add that if you include the kids and let them pick a healthy recipe, help you cook it they will be more inclined to eat it. Try to find at least one thing everyone can agree on, like a big salad, and then have different proteins/carbs/veggies for everyone else to choose from.

Of course I kale!

90% dark chocolate, Almonds (smokehouse, vanilla, dark chocolate), sugar free jello, Lily's chocolate (I have crispy rice and milk chocolate at home now) coffee or tea with HWC and some SF sweetener (usually vanilla or caramel) frothed in the cream. I really like my sweets.. :) I start with the 90% dark chocolate because…

I have this as well and am on Metformin. I have to really restrict my carb intake as much as possible to lose weight and get my sugar under control. I'm following the keto diet which seems to work pretty well for diabetics.

I save weekends for my cheat meals :) I am very good all week and then choose 1 or 2 meals (but don't go overboard) to have on Saturday/Sunday. Or I'll skip breakfast and have a big lunch. Last weekend I chose an IHOP waffle then did a lot of walking :) I know what you mean about the SO snacking, I try to keep snacks I can…

That's awesome! I have an app called workout trainer that I pull yoga stuff from and do those on a mat if I can't go out walking. I really love the stretch, especially in my upper back where I've had pain. I'm sure there's other apps out there as well. You can do it!

I am trying to help the OP and I don't see how that kind of comment is helpful. She says she's addicted to sugar.

I am a sugar-holic. I've become pre-diabetic so I've been extremely careful lately. Sugar has been shown to have the same chemical reaction in the brain as cocaine does so yes it's extremely addictive. Personally I have to keep it out of the house as much as possible, and if I want ice cream or a treat I go out and buy one…

One cheat meal, if it's a huge meal loaded with calories might be able to stall you. I'd find that hard to believe working out 6 days a week though. That time of the month will also make you retain more water than usual as well.
-
This is exactly it. When you start Keto sometimes your breath smells awful, I'm not sure about body odor. If you're only eating meat and no/very low carbs then you've entered ketosis.

The first few weeks are the hardest, then it becomes a bit easier diet wise. You'll know what you can/can't eat or how much you can eat out of habit after awhile. It was not just about looser clothes or better fitting clothes for me. My back became so sore I could barely roll out of bed. I was winded just going up the…
