  • Yum! I want to try them too. I have a lot of leftovers to get through before I can make something else though, lol.
  • Well it won't hurt you, plenty of religions do fasts. It will give your body a small break from digestion. Remember to still drink water, black coffee or tea.
  • I made a similar recipe with chicken and parmesan cheese last night! It's so good, I tell everyone to try it lol. I took pictures but the MFP Android app won't let me post any. http://lilluna.com/creamy-swiss-chicken-bake/
  • Dairy causes constipation issues with some people, try cutting it out and see if it helps? I also heard coconut oil can move things along, some people make fat bombs with it :)
  • When you're fasting are you just drinking water, or are you doing a fat fast where you can still have cream or bullet proof coffee to help keep you full?
  • I can't see your diary - are you eating any cheese or dairy?
  • UGH I feel you... I bought some from Costco only to open them and realize.. DUH of course they are sweetened.. they are gummies! I try to save a few carbs at the end of the day to fit them in.
  • Do you know what it started at before keto? It took me a year but I was able to get my A1C to 5.2 down from 6.0 without metformin, just following keto. Now if I ate "healthy grains" again like your nutritionist is suggesting, they'd spike back up and they'd probably push me to take metformin :/ I agree with @esjones12. If…

  • I've had those days, some days MFP won't even let me complete my diary because I'm around 950 calories or so, and just not hungry for anything else. What if I want a big pancake breakfast tomorrow MFP? What then!
  • That milk/cream combo sounds dreamy...
  • You are doing what I'm doing - fat fasting. You're body is running off ketones and burning fat during the day (whether it's fat you're ingesting, or fat that's on you), and I'm assuming you eat your calories either starting at lunch time or all around dinner time. It's fine, you're still getting your nutrition every day…

  • Fat bombs made up of any mix of coconut oil, coca, or peanut butter/almond butter. Avacados or almonds.
  • This must be what's happening to me lately. I've woken up with a dull ongoing headache each morning. I salt a lot of my foods so it's tough to gauge exactly how much I'm ingesting sometimes.
  • 5ft 7 SW: 308 CW: 248 GW: 150 Bounced around 247-248 this week. I'm still continuing to fast during the day and am eating my food mostly at night between 5-8pm. I'm going to take a look into my sodium vs water intake and see if upping my sodium helps, it's been too low lately. My blood work came back on Monday and I'm not…
  • Woops! I should have said, our brain is made up of mostly fat and therefore runs *best* with eating more fat and using ketones vs eating more carbohydrates and running off glucose. http://greatist.com/eat/healthy-fats-best-foods-for-brain-health
  • It's a real thing, yes. You may not be allergic but your body has a difficult time processing it or digesting it in some way. It can cause bloating, inflammation, and many other side effects depending on what your eating and your body doesn't like. I find certain foods like Costco hot dogs and a few slices of bologna give…
  • My macros are 75% fat 20% protein 5% carbs so I can't really relate, but can offer you some suggestions if you're interested. You don't have to have cream in your coffee if you don't want it. Some people make "fat bombs" which are like candy bars or treats they keep in the freezer to fill in their macros. I see a lot of…
  • Maybe next time swap the slim jim for bacon and eggs so he doesn't kill his lipid panel. Poor guy, he meant well!
  • Oh and I may as well add in - I took up keto to lose weight for my wedding and was pregnant around 4 months in, after years of not even a scare. It doesn't take long, lol.
  • Yes I have experience with all of the above. I found that if I went too low carb I started losing weight during pregnancy, which the doctors didn't like so they assigned me a nutritionist. She understood my concerns and understood I didn't want to eat a lot of carbs so she was cautiously supportive of my diet. The hospital…
  • I bought some off of amazon but haven't used it enough to say. I've played with almond flour a bit and really like that but it's really pricey and drives up the calories of my pancakes. I think it would be a good substitute for flour in gravy drippings though.
  • @KnitOrMiss if you take ACV as a pill, are you still getting the benefit of the "mother" (that sounds so weird) that's in liquid form? The friendly bacteria?
  • As someone who has experienced healthcare in both the US and Canada it infuriates me that we're at a point where companies are assigning points based on lipid profiles. It shouldn't be anyone's business but his on what his sugar levels are at. It's a product of the US healthcare system and companies trying to save money..…
  • @kmn118 We all go through it at some point or another. I'm glad everyone in this group over-shares because there's always someone else experiencing it and sometimes too afraid to ask. It really helps and no one here is judgemental, so it's great.
  • It's funny you mention the Americano - I had a similar experience with Starbucks ordering their blonde roast coffee. It didn't happen with their medium or dark roasts, only blonde. The barista said the more caffine is in the coffee, the speedier it will move things along. The blonde has the most caffine out of the three…
  • I just bought a magnesium suppliment called calm plus calcium that you just add into water, I feel a lot better once I drink it and you only need a tsp per day. I eat a lot of veggies too, maybe I need to add in ACV with my meals. Thanks for all the ideas!
  • Awesome, great job!
  • Loving these idea threads. Feel better soon and let us know how it works :)
  • I think that rule is about fasting, but I mean, I'd rather eat later and skip breakfast to fast than not snack at night. The idea of fasting is to give your body a break from digesting and just let it do a full reboot, which it does at night naturally while you're sleeping anyway. I have a whole drawer full of snacks that…
  • I haven't read this whole thread but that's how I started keto - I upped my calories until I felt full and I had a good handle on recipes and carb counting, then I slowly lowered it. I think I went from 1800 to 1600 then finally where I'm at now, 1400. Even now some days I don't eat all my calories and other days I overeat…
