  • It's probably because they encounter rude people like you who make them feel like crap the moment they walk into the gym. Just saying. I completely agree with yoovie. It'd be nice to see a little more support for these people - especially since we've ALL been there once. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US, faced with a number on the…
  • Thank you everyone for your help! I ended up going with my home scale as it's something I have access to. I look forward to the TREND downward, I hope! ;) Happy holidays!
  • I believe it is calibrated, but not 100% sure. I got on it too quickly to see if it was absolutely balanced. But, thank you! I was thinking the home one would be better, but was curious to see what my fellow MFP-ers had to say! :)
  • ANYWAY... This was a great thread to read, as I am going to the gynecologist tomorrow to discuss IUD options with her. I'm wondering if non-hormonal would be more beneficial for me (especially because I have PCOS). We'll see!
  • Ugh, if you don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation, then just get the hell out. If you'd bother to read, troll, then you'd know birth control and weight gain go hand-in-hand. It also clears up acne, lightens menstruation, & reduces cramps. So you know, bro... piss off.
  • Well that WOULD make sense!
  • I want to know how many people log them & how they log them. SO curious!
  • Why can't a man read a magazine with the word "Woman" in the title? I think it's pretty sad that you're so much into gender roles that you would mock someone just for reading a magazine. Just saying.
  • The real question is... How many people actually log it?
  • HRM is a heart rate monitor.
  • I have the same problem when I vary speeds on the treadmill. I generally try to roughly estimate how long I was going at each speed. I know it seems kind of tedious, but it's one of the most accurate ways I've found out how to work around it.
  • My most honest reason? Well, I'm cornered by many family members with diabetes. Both grandmothers, my aunt & my mother all have/had diabetes. I fear if I keep on the unhealthy path, that I will get it, too. Also trying to combat the potential high blood pressure that looms on my father's side of the family. Working out…
  • As a Florida resident who frequents IOA & Universal... Your best bet is to go through Seussland, which is a right. Typically, everyone tries to hit up the Incredible Hulk roller coaster as soon as they get into the park, just so they can get it out of the way, which is on the left as you walk in. Although, more & more…
  • I second this. If you feel like you aren't getting enough throughout the day, but you're feeling full, make sure you cook with things that are at least in the "good fats" category. It won't hurt & it will boost your calorie count. Try to at least get above 1200 so your body doesn't go into freak-out mode. Health is key!
  • Swimming is a great calorie burner, if you enjoy that sort of thing. My trainer actually recommended that I warm up on the stair-master for about 5-10 minutes before doing weight/strength training activities around the gym, then when I'm finished with my strength training go back to cardio - any cardio I like. But…
  • Speaking of Violet Zaki, roughly how many calories do you think are burned during her 20-minute Fat Blasting Workout from the Weight Loss Cardio Sculpt DVD? I found a source for watching one of the 20-minute workouts to get an idea of what she's like here: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_articles.asp?id=1745…
  • I mean, I think even at my fittest (late high school) I was 150ish. I can push for 140, but I don't know if my body will let me get there. I'm a pretty curvy body type -even when I was thinner I was still curved - & I have a 36D chest, so I have A LOT going on up there, haha.I don't know what my body wants yet, I guess.
  • Judging by most of you and your goals, I'm guessing 150-155 isn't a good weight for my goal. Should I honestly be at 130? Well this is discouraging. :/
  • The beige shoes - FABULOUS.
  • 5'4'' RIGHT HERE! Yay for finding other people in my range! Well, I was 183 to start & I want to get down to between 150-155. :) Here's me on my birthday back in June... YIKES! I've only lost 7 pounds so far. I'm waiting until the 10 pound mark to take another photo.
  • I like mashed potatoes & corn mixed together. I also like oreos & peanut butter.
  • I go with one of three choices for a typical breakfast: 1. Oatmeal with cinnamon + Truvia 2. Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch (1cup) + Fat Free milk (1/2 cup) 3. Scrambled 2-egg omelet with salt & pepper.
  • bump! Thank you for sharing this! I will be trying it this weekend!
  • I only log after I complete it. If I'm doing the Wii Fit especially & I've done a bunch of different exercises, I just log at the very end. It saves time & it doesn't allow me to cheat on my diary (because marking it in the morning could screw with me).
  • This might be just me here... But I never look at what other people in the gym are doing. I pull all of my gym research from online places (like MFP) and work out videos then repeat them there. It does me no good to look at others in the gym because it screws with my head. And I do lunges at home on the Wii Fit. They're…
  • My university has a gym, and students have a free membership. I think alumni get a special discount - so I may look into that when I graduate in the Spring :(
  • I have the same question for Just Dance for the Wii. I looked at a website and it said about 20 calories a song - but it still varies. I don't know how to log it :/
  • I'm trying to read the last half. It's a little unclear, so sorry if I'm repeating you or something... There's a vigorous cleaning effort exercise. I say just stick with that if that is what you're doing. I mean if it's out of the ordinary for your day, mark it. Cleaning takes a lot out of you!
  • I mean... If we're being honest here... She's jealous. She's jealous that you're actually sticking to something, being positive & (you're most likely) getting positive attention for your good behavior. Even though your friend has never had a weight problem, she's probably one of those people that hates getting the…
