As an aside - I will say that working out like a fiend during my pregnancy did not (to my distress) make it easier to get back in shape afterward. Once you take that 5-6 week rest with the newborn, which is really unavoidable, you are still irrevocably out of shape.

I went by how I felt, not a heart rate monitor, when I was pregnant. Use common sense but I I felt like my body was used to rigorous exercise, so I continued it. I did weight lifting, aerobics and spin up to my last month and jogged until about 7 months. Talk to your doctor(I am no expert, I only know my experiences), but…

I saw that recipe. My little girl is a mac and cheese junky so it's on my must-try list, although I am not sure I could win her off the blue box :).

run in the rain! It's great!!!!

add Bananas and Walnuts for me :)

p90x is more strength training, insanity more cardio, I think. Either would be great, I am sure, I get stir crazy doing dvd's every day, so I flunked out of p90x, but I do like to toss the different workouts into my schedule. LOVE the yoga.

To begin training, you should be able to run a consecutive 5 miles. That's it. I like Hal Higdon's novice program for a first marathon. In 18 weeks it works you up from a week of 3-3-3 on weekdays and a 5 mile weekend longrun, to the hardest training week which is 5-10-5 with a long run of 18 miles. you have 2 rest days…

mom of 3, 7 and under... busy busy busy, feel free to add me!

I bet we do, Monique. I like it, I just don't believe what it tells me, when it comes to calories, and it sorta makes a lot of noise. I usually only use it at spin.
-
LOVE IT, do it. The thing about spin is, nobody knows how much resistance you have on your bike, so there is NO NEED to feel self conscious. When the instructor says to add resistance, if you are feeling really tired, don't add any more. Do get there early so the instructor can help you get your bike set up right, and…

I haven't used my HRM for a while (about 6 months) but at the time I felt like the calorie count was fairly inflated for it to, like 20-30% I'd estimate. Maybe I am just paranoid, or maybe I shouldn't have bought a $30 HRM on amazon.

unfortunately, no smartphone, no gps... not in the budget at the moment.

Flynntiggr- I don't have a great answer for your question other than that with 3 kids under 7, I am lucky to leave my house ALMOST on time with my shoes on, not to mention things like a Heart Rate Monitor. I need to locate it. agthorn - stupid question, but can I log miles rather than "time" on MFP? It just seems to give…

I sometimes sleep in my jogging clothes, with my shoes next to the bed. Don't hit snooze, you just have to get right up and out the door immediately.

My rat terrier is my very best training partner! Scooby and I have 18 miles in together so far this week!

must make these.

I'm from the Columbus area, too :)

In my opinion, I'd say that you can go over 185 calories just at one stop, often they'll give out a large chunk of an egg roll, a mini cream puff, ... I absolutely log it one at a time - and skip lunch.

I'm in this boat too. 5'6" and stuck at 153 pounds(size 8 +/-), trapped between 153-156 gaining and losing the same pounds for the last 5 months. I am active (runner) and I have been down at about 1,000 calories, give or take, for a little while now and NOT LOSING A POUND. I am going to try to hit at least 1200 for a while…

I take it out of "tomorrow"s calories. I shouldn't be eating that late at all, so I punish myself by starting with yesterdays late night binge...
-
I like this too, although I get pretty bored and haven't been able to do the full 30 days straight.
-
I'm a big fan of bananas. And apples.

DON'T feel silly. You are there, working to get and be healthy while so many others are home on the sofa eating chips. Be proud, and know that nobody is watching or judging you, or that the VERY FEW who might be, aren't worth concerning yourself with. The only one you need to impress is yourself, and you will feel SO good…

I run a lot, and if you enjoy it, keep at it. I love it and wouldn't give it up. Adding in some strength training is probably a good idea as well since maintaining muscle takes more calories I think, but I totally disagree that walking will burn more fat. A mile is a mile, and running gets you there faster (I personally…
