  • Glad you like your new GP, V. I hope we get some rain too. We got a drizzle yesterday. Today: double yoga and who knows. Depends on the rain. Should get together with a friend this afternoon, but I haven't heard from her yet - and we may go for a walk, we usually do. I'm still doing well on the figuring out when full -…
  • Good luck with the new doctor, V. Hope for good news, MM. I'm hoping we get some of this rain. It's August dry out there. We usually get a lot of rain in April and May - this is just crazy. I had a minor success yesterday - did not finish the portion of alfredo I made for myself. I think I'm finally learning when to stop.…
  • Happy Mother's Day! I dislike logging too. I think it got me into the habit of sitting in front of the computer more than is good for me. I'm still trying to figure out another way. The mud run was fun and very muddy. I posted some pictures to FB. Today, I'm hosting a Mother's Day family get together at a rec center pool.…
  • I'm up early for a Saturday to go get muddy. I'm doing an obstacle course/mud run. Which is somewhat odd considering how dry it has been. I'm wearing clothes I can throw away. It's a mile in length with 7 obstacles (think what you see in army training commercials). I didn't get much yoga in yesterday, so that's on the…
  • Well, just remember V, sometimes the cause of sciatic pain (severe pain going down the leg) is a tight muscle. Glad it's not a bone/disc problem though. You should bring xrays to yoga next Thursday, or at least tell them about it.
  • Hope you guys feel better - I need a magic wand! I went to Guadalupe River State Park. There wasn't nearly enough shade. Did see some kids playing with a cottonmouth snake that was mostly dead. I wish they would have put it out of its misery. Not a park for walking in the summer. Today is recovery day. I'll walk and maybe…
  • Hope you feel better soon, MM Today is the last day of the workshop, and then the mini-break is over :( I wish I knew what we are doing tonight - and I hope it is worth staying. Another park today - this one will have water. Living in the city with alll of its irrigation, it was hard to see how dry everything is. Rain…
  • Hope you both get good news soon! I'm surprisingly not sore. Got a little pink yesterday from being in the sun, so I might get some sun screen today. Had a great lunch (and ended up eating with the teacher and the big shots, since they were at the same restaurant, so that was fun- and I didn't eat as much as I might have…
  • We only got drizzle yesterday :( I'm on the little itouch for the next few days, so my posts will be short. I plan on 5 hours of yoga and a walk in the park - great weather for it - a high of 73, yeah! Need more rain please, boogaloo
  • Today is my last trip to San Antonio for school - yeah! Graduation day. Which is really just a party. I think we are going to celebrate with friends at a gelato place tonight. I've had many headaches recently. I hope they go away soon - and are just caused by allergies or smoke. I think the fires are going down because the…
  • I enjoyed meeting up with MM yesterday. We got a nice walk in (27 minutes at slow/moderate pace, if you want to log it) I got to meet Alex too. He's such a well behaved kid. Today I'm off to San Antonio for the final school weekend! I co-teach a class today and just hang out the rest of the day. I'm planning on…
  • I'll wave back. My first thought was to meet you for lunch, but I already have lunch plans. Have a good drive. I'm up extra early today - not for the royal wedding, but for the kick butt yoga class. I need to have enough time to adjust to the waking world. I'll leave in about 45 minutes. So a two hour yoga class this…
  • Hope you can stay away from stress, CP! Fingers crossed you hear from Moscow, MM! Enjoy yoga, V. What a nice cool morning! Like moth to flame, I had to look at the tornado footage. I really didn't need to see that. Phobias, I have them. Another friend had their email hacked. It was the message "I'm stuck in London, please…
  • I don't live in the area, but you could start by researching different styles of yoga and look for a teacher that fits your style.
  • I am such a control freak, that I have that issue too. I feel like a 5 year-old sometimes. Stubborn and opinionated is somewhat the norm for me, but if you add grumpy, then I don't try to hide it  So I did go for a bike ride yesterday, but there were consequences - I had a awful headache yesterday…
  • Happy Anniversary, MM! V - have the yoga teachers show you how to make a "trapezius harness". It's a strap that goes behind your back over your shoulders, and crosses your shoulderblades. I'm sure they have a 10' or bigger strap you could buy (the Pune ones are reasonably priced) - and you could sit on the strap ends - it…
  • Happy Easter Y'all! Ended up at a Gelato place last night. I thought that was better than mystery dessert at the steakhouse, which didn't impress me with their pasta. I'm going to get a walk in this morning before heading out to my parents house for Easter food and games. Maybe yoga as well? Easter, boogaloo.
  • NYC for your birthday! How lovely. We should do that (mine 40th is in January) as well. I think we are having a party though - as my dad will be 70. Or, since our birthdays are in the winter, maybe the Florida keys instead  I'm having dessert tomorrow too, MM. We are getting my favorite chocolate cake for Easter -…
  • Since we are sharing our food issues lately, here's mine. While I'm not sure I've ever been a binge eater, I have a hard time knowing when I've had enough for the next 4-5 hours. I rarely feel full. I'm talking about the "oh, I feel full" feeling, I have no idea where satisfied is - am I having trouble with linguistics…
  • Yeah, I'm think I need to go to TO to take class with your teacher  I like these individual nut butter/ chocolate packs by Justin nut butters. The Hazelnut/Chocolate, Almond/Chocolate, and PB/Chocolate are my favorites - but mostly I like that it's already measured.
  • What viviakay said
  • Yeah for small victories! In a way, these are the only victories we have. We don't lose weight, pay off a house, have a happy marriage as a big victory, it's a bunch of small ones. So, my SIL sent me a cryptic message on Facebook. She said "if there was EVER a time to randomly call your brother, NOW would be the time". Let…
  • I'm trying to decide if I should go to a yoga class at noon or not. If I don't, I won't get my practice in - or at least I never have before when I'm teaching two classes in one day. I don't see how people do this for a living. I can only brain so much. My brain was exhausted on Monday night, thus the walk. That might…
  • CP - what about walking outside as your "time with your husband"? We frequently do that - it's not exercise, it's time together. Though I heard it snowed :noway: in Michigan yesterday - and y'all are at the same latitude. My thoughts on soy - there's nothing wrong with regular soy - edamame is nom, especially with salt.…
  • I really like the "I feel as if I really want to be in a place where I don't feel like I need to restrict in order to eat normally and healthfully" as well. I think it's the stuff we dream of at the places we are at in our food issues. I have a friend that had a gastric sleeve done. She can't eat that much - she's doing…
  • Last up yesterday, first today. We did revolved standing poses yesterday. I'm hoping for backbends this morning, though my left shoulder is a little sore - it feels like it got a vaccination. I've never felt that kind of soreness before. 5 hours of yoga today, then nephew's birthday party late this afternoon, dinner, bed.…
  • Food and my relationship to it - could be the story of my life (seriously - my eating patterns and what was going on in my life - from my diet coke and candy bar to organic salads and coffee). I'm trying a new practice of taking 10 breaths before eating anything (except breakfast where I'm tired and grumpy). I'm hoping to…
  • I can't wait to hear what your yoga session is like. I know it will involve lots of props - the horse, the backbender, sandbags. If you are feeling emotional, they will take that into consideration as well. I never get tired of reading anyone's posts, but I know what you mean by posting after yourself - makes you feel like…
  • It's lovely outside now. I just volunteered to teach at noon, so I'll be teaching all morning. It's the time slot I would like to add to my schedule. Other plans today include: yard work, yoga class tonight, some cleaning, making soup. How to fit everything in alludes me. It's been ages since I've watched a movie sitting…
  • Yoga has pretty much taken hold of my life. It's what I spend my money on, what I do on the weekends. I started teaching five years ago, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. There's a heavyweight yoga in my town, so there might be one in yours. Nothing can beat having a teacher. Many experienced teachers will…
