  • Here in SA. Hotel is better this time. I did the treadmill last night and will again shortly this morning. I had Thai food last night and had a hankering for fruit and/or dessert. I got two oranges and some very dark chocolate from a grocery store, the oranges were sweeter than the chocolate and really hit the spot. Today…
  • When I read the forums, I felt the same way, SMJ, I only look through the Fitness and Exercise one now - and read very few. Good luck finding a new apartment, V. After 4.5 hours of yoga yesterday, I felt like I got very little exercise. I taught one class, restorative in another, and seated poses in the third - though I…
  • Loved the video, V. Hope you get rid of your plaque - so what is normal? Enjoy being with friends, MM. We are trying to figure out how to get together with everyone for next weekend (happy birthday to me) - when we have two friends that don't like each other. This is what we have planned for next weekend: Friday night -…
  • Anytime I think it's cold, I look at Canada, and I'm no longer cold. Pretty much, their Fahrenheit is our Centigrade. 9pm is just crazy, CP. Today - hopefully the filming and the retakes of pictures - also, finishing the paper and maybe leaving the house, just to do so, but it is cold outside. Walk this…
  • I like all the Rodney Yee ones.
  • Yoga is great, but it doesn't burn that many calories. It does help some people lose weight because of an increased awareness. There are many different kinds of yoga, so try many different classes before deciding which is right for you. Enjoy.

  • Got some work on the paper done yesterday. We need to redo some pictures, but I have the video sequenced, so we are ready to film on Thursday. I plan on being finished with the written part tomorrow. Today is double yoga, and I don't have much time for anything else. Progress, boogaloo.
  • Video is up, I'm at .43 sec. (but the still pic is my new avatar) If you watch it, make sure to look at the mirror - it was raining inside that space, no, I'm not exaggerating, next to the windows I felt drops coming down from the ceiling. http://www.christinasell.blogspot.com/ Monday's video post. Christina posted the…
  • I agree with you on the peebs here, MM. I feel closer to you guys in some ways than people I see occasionally. I think it's the daily (or weekly) contact. Since I call everyone by their initials, my husband knows who I'm talking about. The last day of the workshop was fun. Day three video hasn't been posted on Christina's…
  • I'm tired from yesterday, but only my abs are sore. Dang long plank holds - oh, and somehow they were made harder, but now I can't remember how, some sort of body positioning (inflate your kidneys, maybe? yoga people are weird when they describe subtle movements). I don't think I would take this teacher again. The…
  • So I decided to push myself yesterday, now I'm sore (I first typed sorry, which is also true, a little). I went to a yoga class before a yoga class - yes, I recognize I have a problem. We did almost the same things in each class, ugh. We also steamed up the mirror again - crazy yoga people don't know about good air…
  • My idea for a cooking class that I sent to Whole Foods - is full again! This is the third time they've offered "mushroom lovers", and it's been sold out every time :grumble: It's workshop weekend - so lots o' yoga this weekend. I made some decent progress on the paper yesterday. Will work more today. Teaching this morning…
  • I slept a bit late. Hope y'all feel better. My teacher is going to India again in July, and she handed me the dates yesterday. I'll be busy with up to 7 classes a week. I made some progress on my paper (finally). I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to drive to my parent's house to grab the wheelchair so I can get…
  • Take out the chaturanga's V. If your shoulder hurts in chaturanga, there's probably an alignment problem (or flexibility or strength, but whatever the reason, they need to go) I don't know what's going on MM, but having had this cough since September makes me feel like smoker again. Maybe there's something in the air in…
  • Hope you feel better, MM :flowerforyou: Are you working less at your new job, CP? Writing? I'm supposed to write something? Actually, I started working on the chair stuff last night. I strapped myself into a chair to see how it would go. I would like to practice on someone that's injured and old though. I got an email from…
  • More breathing at school today. Guy is a little fruity. I'm hoping for some practice in the afternoon. It's called teaching methodologies, so maybe a little practice? I will walk on the crappy hotel treadmill this morning or maybe walk in circles around the hotel - the treadmill is really that bad - kinda feel like an…
  • Sorry about your GP. It takes courage to say what you want or need. I'm off to SA today. Will check in tomorrow morning on the itouch. Seems weird to call it that. I've named all the i machines - the one that is now mine was Charlie's old iphone named Cleo. His current one is Doris (this is the "other woman" in his life).…
  • I think Intervals a great for getting HR up. I also think you will burn more calories doing intervals than walking. I didn't do any exercise yesterday - other than cleaning - and was worn out last night. I slept for almost 10 hours, and I feel better today. I got a sub so I could sleep in and try to kick this cold. I think…
  • V, I wouldn't do plow either - it's less pressure on the cervical spine, but a stronger angle for the neck - especially after what you just said about your shoulders. The alternatives are bridge pose or the jack knife shoulderstand (where most of the weight is on the hands and elbows rather than the neck). The weight…
  • Just googled PX90 Yoga to see what all the fuss was about. I watched a 5 minute routine that someone video taped of themselves. Please, please, please do not do shoulderstand straight from the ground - less you can bend your neck at a 90 degree angle while upright. That is all I have to say.
  • I tried to find our post from last year so I could find any New Year's Resolutions, but alas, I can only find back to April. Welcome back Mummsy. I started on this site right after I quit smoking. It really helped me to exercise a lot. CP - my hardest times are when I'm really busy and when I'm bored. I think I've not read…
  • Good to see you, WL, glad most things are going well. I tried to do every pose on my syllabus from memory last night. I missed three of them. I think I need to do more backbends to 1. clear out some of this coughing (yes, still), and 2. get ready for the workshop in two weeks. The workshop is with the hard teacher and the…
  • So sleepy this morning - that's what a week off will do to you, though I did set the alarm 3x during the week off to go to yoga classes. So maybe it's staying up until 1am on Sat night - I usually have carry over sleepiness - I guess it's like second day soreness. Today - short walk and double yoga. My husband talked me…
  • I'm a little sore from yesterday, but I'm better than I thought I would be. I haven't decided if it's a yoga day or not. I guess since I'm aiming for 6x a week, I should go ahead with something. Maybe just some inversions. Oh, the teacher said that we would do poses between sets of 12 that would help counteract the sun…
  • I like the Rodney Yee Dvds (very different than kundalini, so might not be your thing) - that being said, I don't think you should attempt harder poses without a teacher. I think it's quite possible to hurt yourself in headstand (sirsasana) or shoulderstand (sarvangasana).
  • Got to bed around 11pm - up early for the 108. That will be enough exercise for today. I'm a little sore from yesterday's class. So here goes my New Year's Resolutions: 1. Practice yoga a minimal 5x a week, aim for 6x a week, even if it's only 10 minutes. 2. Goal pose: mayurasana 3. Slow down on the eating - notice more…
  • So friends asked me "What are you doing for New Year's Eve?" "Going to a yoga class" "what are you doing for New Year's Day?" "Going to a yoga class" So, yeah, we are teetotalers and are more interested in doing 108 sun salutations on New Year's Day than going out New Year's Eve. A friend invited us to dinner, so we get…
  • I haven't managed to do without sugar yet. Maybe today. We are going out to eat with friends this evening (and probably going out this afternoon as well), but I had my favorite yesterday (mint chocolate cupcake - think of a junior mint in cake form), so everything else will be downhill, right? I saw a book yesterday called…
  • Had a nice dinner at an Irish restaurant last night, potatoes, yum. Today is double yoga + short walk. I didn't get yoga in yesterday, so I need to for the rest of the week. We are taking tomorrow off any work, so I need to do some extra homework today. I got one closet cleaned out yesterday. We'll be purging the rest of…
  • V just posted on last week's topic, so you're not alone, MM. week off = sleep late for me, so I'll be here late. "my diet should be exclusively cookies" I'm working on knowing when I'm 1/2 full at fancy meal times - then I need to stop if I'm having dessert. People who never diet do not have dessert when they are…
