Yes, there are other uses for "meal replacement shakes" and reasons why they exist on the market for reasons other than "muscle growth" used in Protein shakes. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I have personal experience with this on a few occasions, it tend to happen more because I have some rather serious immune-disorder diseases and other complications, and almost died a few times before I was diagnosed, so i have, unfortunately more than a couple doctor horror stories…
