  • HA! Thanks for the laugh :) But in response to this thread, all I can say is that hubby is the same way. It's no different than seeing those model-thin girls that can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. You have to find a way to accept that there is a genetic difference between you and hubby. Let the fact that you…
  • Yup. This is my millionth time starting over this year alone. For me, one of my BIG problems is alcohol. As soon as I get home from work I grab a beer and sit on the couch. It's the only way I know to relax especially when you have a house full of kids! That said, I started over on Monday and I have one precious hour of…
  • Hubby always did Baccardi (sic?) rum and diet when he lost weight. We looked it up though and Captain Morgan and diet is VERY few calories more so that's our "dieting" drink of choice because it has a better flavor than the rum. There are plenty of low-cal beers too but the alcohol percentage is also really low. Of those…
  • I have to agree that a treadmill gives a better workout than the elliptical or stationary bike, though I have no scientific evidence to back this up. I sweat a TON more on the treadmill than I do on any other machine, even if the odometers claim the workout was equal. Wish I knew why this was. Hmmm
  • While I didn't get to read every post in this thread, the ones I did were SO supportive and nonjudgmental. I am very proud of the MFP community here. I also find it very comforting to know that there's a lot of us in this boat. Without going into every last detail, I can say I definitely consume WAY too much alcohol too.…
  • I just joined now (not sure when the invite was originally sent to me). Though 2014 is quickly slipping away, my IDEAL goal is a total of 60 pounds to lose. Today is day one and IN THEORY, if I stick to my diet, I could be at my goal as early as April 20th which seems insanely soon. So cheers to us and let's get moving! :)
  • I like being the only woman amongst the men. I can relate to them more than the stupid "spandex" women on the cardio machines. It is what makes me unique (at least in that gym).
  • The few moments of peace after work but before all the kids are home. I havent worked out since 2006/2007 because back then, I had the time for 3 hour a day workouts. Now college is over, I have a full time job and am married with kids. I didnt want to work out because I was tired and couldn't do it "right" which in my…
  • Everyone will have their opinions but for me, whether right or wrong, I'm on a 1200 calorie diet too. I don't skip meals on days I don't work out (and on days I do, I personally don't eat back all my calories because then it seems counterproductive). 1,200 calories isn't a TON but if you plan carefully, it can still be…
  • I drink a TON of soda but it's Diet Pepsi so I haven't changed that yet. The one vice I can't let go is booze. What I found though was a low-cal drink that I could incorporate into my calories. Yeah, I can only have one a day but it's nice knowing I can still diet and lose weight without having to be extreme.
  • I don't tend to shave calories off the next day when I had a bad one prior BUT if you wanted, you could go down to 1,200 calories (and no less than). But really, the 300-400 calories you'd save today doesn't make up for the 2,000 extra yesterday. So perhaps it is most wise just to pick up and move on. I think mentally that…
  • I switch it up but usually, that means I have to adjust my calories accordingly for the other meals. For breakfast today I had Special K High Protein cereal with a cup of soy vanilla almond milk. That was 150 calories. Tomorrow, I want to get a small iced caramel latte lite and 3 munchkins from Dunkin Donuts. That will be…
  • When I go to Dunkin Donuts I get an iced caramel (or mocha) latte lite with Splenda added. Truly, everyone has different opinions about artificial sweetners and there's always some study out there that says they cause cancer. My opinion- it's better than the sugar I would normally have in it. I don't have time to sweat…
  • That's of course a Weight Watchers concept. When I went to my doctor he told me there is no such thing as "free calories". Mind you, that's his opinion but I think there's merit to that. Many fruits in particular are high in calories and I don't think can be disregarded. Weight Watchers, however, isn't really letting them…
  • 5'6" woman, 167 pounds, 32 years old with a desk job. My daily intake is currently 1200. Once I reach goal, I will increase that number to probably 1400-1800 to maintain.
  • If given the opportunity, I could down over a 2 lt of soda a day. I'm trying to CUT BACK to three cans. Yeah- it's that bad! It hasn't impeded my weight loss but I just hate having an addiction.
  • What I can tell you is BEWARE of their flat bread! It is CRAZY bad for you by comparison to say their wheat bread. I was eating it forever under the assumption is was a healthy choice. Oh no oh no oh no it's not.
  • Very interesting. Someone more educated about food than myself may have a reason why this is happening. From my experience though, I am ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS over my sodium no matter what I eat in a given day. Other people have the same problem with sugar. I would think eating 3 donuts would automatically put you over your…
  • Grams is weight, a cup is volume. Two different things that cannot be reconciled with one another in general terms.
  • Oh, and I love to thaw some cocktail shrimp and eat that! Great source of protein!
  • What is a crab stick??? I love crab legs....
  • This is just my opinion, but right now I've cut my calories down to 1,200 a day which is the bare minimum anyone should have. Once I reach my goal weight, I will boost the calories up to anywhere between 1,500 - 1,800 depending on my activity level. That will be sufficient for maintenance. And that's what you need to do is…
  • Egg whites which you can just microwave in a minute. I also like bacon :))) I know you wanted protein ideas but just as an FYI, I enjoy Orville Redenbacher's Smartpop. It's a 100 calorie personal bag, buttered flavored, and I spruce it up with a calorie-free butter airsol (same aisle) and salt. I usually have that at night…
  • As I just posted on a few other topics, I'm not giving up my booze. No way. No how. If incorporate it into my diet and stick to my calories, I still lose weight. At a mere 1,200 calories a day, I still get my nutritional requirements AND beer in! My drink of choice is Crispin's hard cider. It's about 7% alcohol and only…

  • Lol. Feel free to friend me. I refuse to give up the booze. Instead, I found a way to work it into my daily calories! Crispin's makes a hard apple cider that is just about 7% and I can have 22 ounces of it for 257 calories! There's no fat, 15 carbs, 13 sugars and a healthy 7.3% of my daily iron! LOL
  • Well I know this answer isn't going to be a popular one, but I can't live without my booze! Lol. Now I'm not talking drinking 1/5 of vodka every day but I do enjoy having one drink after work and I've worked it into my calories (anywhere from 140-258 depending on the drink). On Sundays, I may have 2-3.
  • I agree that it depends, but typically I am weighing my meats and fishes AFTER I cook them.
  • Personally, MFP says I should have 45 grams of protein a day but my personal goal is to crest 100. It's easy to do and still have a HUGE variety of food. I have Special K's high protein cereal for breakfast, some sort of chicken (salad, sandwich) for lunch, some type of meat for dinner and usually a 50 calorie egg-white…
