  • Oh yeah, and to add to my previous post, I have a medium frame.
  • Hi, I'm 5'1 and I'm aiming for somewhere between 115 to 120lbs. However, I'm going to see how I feel as I go along. I need to get into the healthy BMI range first which would be 130lbs. Then, I will reassess my goals. On a side note, however, my goal is where I was late teens/early twenties...so this is BEFORE I had kids.…
  • Another excellent post, Banks! Keep 'em coming!
  • Losing 25lbs is no small feat and you should be proud of yourself! As much as family can lift us up, they can knock us down just as fast. I don't know what your mom is like, but I'd prefer to think that she has good intentions at heart. As for my own mom... She is the type who acknowledges an achievement or some positive…
  • Hi and welcome, J'Neane! I love this site too. I started out in April and haven't looked back since. I made a lifestyle overhaul and I'm much happier, more energetic, and have consistently shed pounds. I'll add you as a friend...make quite a bit of MFP pals because they really keep you motivated. By the way, chocolate milk…

This site is very helpful and the community is extremely supportive. Just try to log in every day, stay committed (but know that you will slip up at times), and keep in mind that this is a…

  • Bump -excellent info for everyone!
  • Bump....in a fun way, as KnightofGod suggests...
  • I agree with the other posters. You just have to be upfront and honest with her -forget hinting. You can do it in a way that won't her her feelings. Just say her cooking is fine, that you appreciate it, and thank you. But, you are restricting your calories and it is much easier for you to control that when you prepare your…
  • Try eatingwell.com for some recipes. Hope you find what you're looking for!
  • 20lb loss by December and a trip to Puerto Rico! ... I'd be shaking on that deal before he even finished his sentence! But, seriously, I understand that it's not that easy to always feel motivated. Ultimately, you have to really want this for yourself. If you can be happy and satisfied with your weight now, then power to…
  • I love English muffins, but I find that particular one -Thomas' Better Smart- not a fave. There is something about it, maybe density and flavor, that I don't like very much. That being said, don't give up on whole wheat/multigrain because of it. Try the other Thomas' ones that may have a few more cals, but taste better.…
  • Welcome, Mandy! I have been using MFP for a couple of months now and I totally love it. It has really helped me make a lifestyle change that was much needed. You will find this site very helpful and the community is extremely supportive as well. Try to log in everyday because it will definitely keep you accountable. Good…

  • Right on, Surlydave! Go Hawks!!!
  • I was curious too and had to go see what prompted your post. I completely agree with you. I think that some people just get defensive and if that's coupled with being argumentative that's even worse. We are all here to achieve similar goals and to give & receive support in the process. No one should ever forget that.
  • Hello! Weekends are definitely a challenge for me as well. If anything, I've learned to enjoy myself, but not go too overboard. If I know that I'm going to indulge a bit for a party or some social activity, I make up for it in exercise. Seriously, that is just one of the benefits of exercise -it allows you more wiggle room…
  • My husband subscribes to Runners magazine and one day I read that it is good for runners to use sneakers that are a half size bigger because their feet swell. So, the previous poster may be right on the money.
  • Hi, under the the 'cardiovascular' heading for exercise there is 'strength training' in the list. It will calculate the calories based on how long you've done the activity. How accurate this is....I don't know. Good luck!
  • I loved it and I bawled my way through it! I think it ended the way it should have -not giving us the answers to every single thing, but enough to satisfy. What I got from it, was that they all survived the plane crash and really experienced what happened on the island and this is what bonded them all together. Jack and a…
  • I am going to be 38 by the end of this year. But, I have already thought about the idea of being in my best shape ever by the time I hit 40. My 20th high school reunion is next year so I hope to have already lost all the weight that I wanted to since beginning here. However, my first goal is to have at least lost 30lbs by…
  • My favorites are Kellogg's Special K and Cheerios. They both have a variety of flavors that you can pick from.
  • I don't have a designated cheat day. If I really just want to indulge a bit, I fit it into my calorie limit for the day as best as I can or make up for it through exercising. -The latter usually being the case. But, I do understand how people feel the need to have one of those days. Even though this is a lifestyle change,…

  • Welcome! I totally know where you are coming from. Losing baby weight is no simple task...too bad it couldn't be as easy as putting it on! But, you have definitely come to the right place. This site is very helpful in taking control/monitoring your diet and the community is very supportive. Good luck!
  • Welcome, Amanda! I think that you will love this site just as much as everyone else does. It really helps keep you on track with eating healthier and the support of the community is great. For inspiration, I always love to look at the Success Stories in the message board forum and the before/after pictures are always…
  • If you are not quite sure if you will like it yet, I would not invest in it too quickly...$100 is no small change. I do hear a lot of good things about Zumba though. I understand that you have issues with dancing in front of people so you don't want to jump at taking a group class. That being said, my suggestion is that…
  • Yeah, you should really try to stop eating at least 2 hrs before bedtime...whatever time that happens to be. I know for some people the gap in time is really long between when they have dinner and go to bed so they end up binging right before they go to sleep. In that case, I think some planning needs to be done ahead of…
  • Welcome! I love this site and it has really helped me start a new lifestyle. In general, I just feel so much better than I did before. Not only have I lost weight so far, my energy and mood have been elevated greatly. In addition, the support that I have gotten on here has helped push me every day to achieve my goals. If…
  • It definitely is an accomplishment! Congrats!
  • Yeah, cheese and bread are definitely two things that it helps to cut down on if you want to lose weight. A serving size of cheese is basically what you'd get on a cocktail toothpick at a party. However, you don't need to completely cut out bread and cheese if you truly love them. It's really just a matter of portion size…
  • I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I haven't experienced any problems with it nor significant weight gain.
