  • In the nicest way possible, suck it up and eat your vegetables. Rather than just steaming foods, I toss them in EVOO, add some S&P and roast them in the oven - sweet taters, fresh green beans, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower. Worst case scenario, bread them in egg and bread crumbs before throwing in the oven (you'd really…
  • I am an early morning runner too. I am out the door by 5am, 4:45 on a good day. It will get easier! Set your clothes out - everything. Grab it on your way to the bathroom to pee. I run in the road (in a city tho), I feel safer than on sidewalks. Walmart sells a reflective vest for about $6 - get one! There are more…
  • LOL what? That is very bizarre. Running is a great calorie and fat burner, from my personal experience. Of course, the food you eat plays a huge role. I'm not one for following running plans, but I know there are some good ones out there. For me, running 3-4 days a week is my maximum. Even if I was only running 2-3 miles…
  • It's shouldn't be about her being skinny, but about her being healthy. She can be thin as a rail and eat all the spaghetti she wants, but that's not necessarily healthy. Does your husband eat the same foods he feeds her? Who does the majority of grocery shopping? You can't force him to see things your way, but you can…
  • Fantastic! I should clarify - The chicken or veggie burger WILL be on a bun, with whatever fun toppings come on the "burger" I order. Salt is not a concern today. I was leaning towards the veggie burger (I usually make my own too!), but now I'm thinking chicken. Thank you!
  • I do. I use a belt, I can't carry anything in my hands. Before I had a baby I could run 5-8 miles without water - now I can't even do a 5k without sipping - so I take my own AND I drink at water stops.
  • It's my favorite meal of the day. I do think it is the most important, but apparently that's just me. I also don't put restrictions on how late I eat either.
  • For me, exercise is sanity. Some people relax with a book, or a glass of wine. Me? I relax with a nice five mile jog around the neighborhood. My heart rate goes up, I get in the zone and all of the sudden, my anxieties are at bay and I find clarity, and new ideas. I feel incredibly accomplished and on top of the world.
  • That is terrible! I would assume that they are built different now. Did it have a timer? I've heard of toasters catching on fire, but never a crockpot! :ohwell: One option would be to use it only when you are home - like overnights, evenings or weekends, rather than during the day.
  • Jeez, I hadn't even thought about the Zombie Apocalypse. Make that reason #1, along with the Monkey Apocalypse. When I'm out for a run and just not feeling it, I remind myself that I want to wear those size __ jeans again. Gets me going pretty fast (the size changes daily). Another reason, I'll feel better - not even that…
  • I agree, but I think there can also be a happy medium. Since you are really busy, have you considered making meals in the crock-pot instead of some of the boxed/frozen meals? My other suggestion would be intense meal planning (chart every meal - breakfast, lunch and dinner) and also making a larger meal that can be eaten…
  • Hugs! You are on the right track! My suggestion would be to start eliminating some of those processed and packaged foods. Just because they keep you in your caloric range, doesn't mean they are good for your body! Do you cook? If not, look into a simple ingredient cookbook, or even crock-pot meals (no cooking!), that will…
  • I think they are OK if you are on the go and desperate, but that's a lot of sugar in one serving to eat daily (for me anyways).
  • This happens to me daily. As with anything in life, I've got to pick and choose my battles. Like you, I'm not stuffing my face with cookies and sugary treats, it's from fruit. I like fruit, and it's good for me. I consider fruits and veggies to be "free" in the sense that I will eat as much as I want and not feel bad about…
  • I drink milk (or chocolate milk) after a run. I use skim and 1 tbs of chocolate syrup for a little flavor. Just not a fan of sports drinks. I especially don't like the "diet" ones, in my head they are pretty comparable to soda with all of the sweeteners and dyes.
  • I totally understand! I work above a Panera Bread, I was craving a cookie - so before I grabbed my wallet and headed downstairs, I checked out the calorie count. 400 calories. For one cookie. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I proudly ate my carrot sticks instead!
  • Bingo. The OP's observation reminds me of the scene in Mean Girls where Regina is drinking Cranberry Juice Cocktail, and then sees the numbers on it, so she gets frustrated and goes back up for Cheese Fries. Ahhhh yes, nice and healthy :-)
  • I second thrifting for them! Or go to a less expensive store to get a few basics that you would need - jeans, work pants, etc. You can also ask some friends that are close to your size if you can borrow stuff (if you don't want to flat out ask - just put out feelers on social media, "hey friends! Anyone need to get rid of…
  • I was having a "free" day every week, which would sometimes become one or two days. My husband and I had a come-to-Jesus meeting about it. It just wasn't working for us, we didn't feel that those days were worth the calories. It doesn't mean we'll never eat greasy pizza again, it just means we don't need it every single…
  • I do - one day or two days a week if necessary. My main form of exercising is running - my body will not let me run five or six miles seven days a week. So I run three, maybe four days a week, do videos and ride a bike to alternate. I also know from experience that my body needs one day a week where I don't do anything…
  • Just suck it up and drink it, your body needs it and it's good for you. If you want flavor, add a slice of lemon, lime or cucumber. Isn't the Mio stuff the bright colored dyes and artificial sweeteners? How in the world is that good for your body???
  • Once a week. I would be totally neurotic if I did more than that, and I'm already crazy with calorie counting, we don't need to add any more :-)
  • That's great that you are open to ideas for around the house! Do you have stairs? Run up them twice every hour Planks (elbows and toes) Squats while doing dishes/cooking Lunges while vacuuming/walking around
  • I'm with the PP who said eating peanut butter from the container. Guilty! It was delicious, but now I only get it every few weeks - and measured out! Cutting out all chips/crackers during the day, and only having a bread-y carb with dinner has saved tons of calories.
