  • How do you figure out your calories burned by sitting?
  • So setting a goal does nothing at all then? What's the point of it?
  • I rewarded myself with a haircut for getting under 150 pounds, which is about 1/4 of the way to my goal weight.
  • Most people are drinking that much because they read somewhere (probably on a website) that they're supposed to. However a lot of recent studies suggest that this isn't actually true. Do a google search for yourself and not only will you find plenty of websites that tell you to drink 8 glasses of water a day but also…
  • How long do you go without losing weight for it to be considered a plateau?
  • Thank you all for the replies. I saw a website with before and after information on several of the contestants and I was really impressed. These people are an inspiration to us all. I can't imagine working out 6 hours a day, 1 hour is more than enough for me.
  • If you search the web you'll find a lot of places that say the whole thing about needing 8 cups of water a day is a myth - and the ones that do say you need 8 cups don't actually offer any scientific evidence as to why. Most days I manage to drink 3 - 4 cups.I ALWAYS have a water bottle with me (which holds exactly 3 cups)…
  • My numbers are always over on sugar and fibre, the sugar allowance on here is really low. My protein is also often over my allowance. Everything else is usually under. My potassium is often lessthan half of what my allowance is. I spoke to my doctor about it and he said not to worry too much, it's hard to develop low…
  • I too weigh myself every day. I do it first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. I don't really get fluctuations on a daily basis. If it goes up or down then it will then stay the same for a few days until It goes down (or up) again, I log it every day too. I like comparing any changes to what I ate the day…
  • Thank you all for the replies. I thought 800 seemed very high as well. I'm now very dubious about theHRM. I've worked out it actually measures arm swings rather than steps, and if your arms swings are too slow or too small then it doesn't measure them at all. I just did another test on my elliptical trainer, walking at a…

  • I eat cereal for breakfast and at least one, sometimes 2 granola type bars every day. Ialso eat a lot of Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, and WW Smart Ones meals, all of which have somefibre in them.
  • I bought a weight watchers scale a week ago and I'm happy with it. It cost me $30 at Walmart and it measures body fat weight & percentage, water percentage, bone mass and BMI as well as weight. It can also be programmed for up to 4 people which was a bonus. It's also a nice looking scale, which was what tipped the balance…
  • I've found this very confusing. Reading Ron2282 and Ferff3's posts was very encouraging. I started off like them, not eating my exercise calories and often not even managing my 1200 base calories per day. I was slowly losing weight, about half a pound every 2 days. Then I read that I'm supposed to eat my exercise calories,…
  • Week 2 weigh-in: SW: 157 CW: 155.6 GW: 135 Gained 1.2 pounds, I'm so depressed :(
  • I'm having trouble with this too. I burn about 550 calories a day through exercise so I'm supposed to eat about 1750 calories. I'm finding that really hard to do. The last 5 days my weight has been exactly the same every day, not even a 1/10 pound move in either direction. Normally it varies by between 1/2 pound and 2…
  • I'd like to be in on this too. Two of my daughters are coming to visit on May 16th for 5 weeks and I'd really like to have "noticeably" lost some weight by then. SW - 157 CW - 154.4 GW - 144.4
  • I'm happy to say I met last week's challenge: Wednesday - 30 mins Curves, 45 mins Wii, 10 mins walk Thursday - 30 mins Curves, 3 mins walk Friday - 30 mins Curves, 15 mins Elliptical Saturday - 30 mins Curves, 20 mins Elliptical Sunday - 20 mins Elliptical x 2 I have to admit when I first read this week's challenge I was…
  • Hi all, I'd love to be part of this group too. I've been on MFP for over a week but I'm taking my starting weight from today. I just bought a new scale yesterday and it's more accurate than my old one. I bought the Weight Watchers scale, it tracks bone mass, body fat weight & percentage, water weight and BMI as well as…
  • This topic has been really helpful. Thanks to whoever posted how to add more measurements for tracking. I was tracking my bust, waist, hips, left thigh and bicep on paper but being able to track them on here is much better. I've also started tracking my abdomen (my tummy sticks out more than my boobs :( ) and now I'm going…
  • A little more info. Although I've only been using MFP for a week I have been exercising for longer than that. I started at Curves last August and went for about 3 months but didn't have any weight or measurement loss. I was "kind of" keeping watch on what I was eating but not making any real effort to eat healthy. I…
