you are AWESOME Brett and made this prego lady tear up a bit! so proud of you and all you have accomplished over the past year because you set your mind to it :)

my husband has to hold my nose when he makes me drink pepto!!! hahaha :)

my opinion - for most people who are not especially efficient in the water, it's an overestimate. I would guesstimate the actual burn for most is 75% of what MFP says, but maybe even lower depending on a number of factors. since I swam in college and would be considered an efficient swimmer, I think the calorie burns are…

I think if you were to get a few private lessons on proper technique, you could be ready for the race in a month. It's kind of hard to say though since I can't see you swim :) But, you can always swim free as much as you can at the race and then switch back to breaststroke for a bit! Look at the race as a starting point…

I know it's disappointing that timing didn't work out how you had hoped, but at least you will be able to see quite a bit of your little one at 11 weeks :) Hoping the next 11 days go by quickly for you!!

Swimming is not something that most people are good at right when they jump in the pool :) You may feel like you are drowning now, but if you continue to go back to the pool a few times each week, it will eventually get easier. What I might recommend is getting a pair of fins for now - my husband was never a swimmer, but…

I've never personally had this issue because I eat a lot of calorie dense foods - olive oil, peanut butter, avocado, nuts, etc...popcorn and spray butter and things like that aren't a part of my diet because I want the more caloric food so I don't fill the extra calories each day with junk! I eat about 2,500 calories per…

dang!!! that's a long time :( thank you both for your responses!

I'm planning to register at 2 - amazon and target! that way it's accessible to anyone, anywhere, and they can go online or in store, whichever they prefer!

I was wondering too!!

prayers to you and your family during this tough time...I'm so sorry for your loss :(

sporadic is definitely right! every few days I'll have some and then it goes away - who knows?!?

Thanks everyone - you bring up a really good point in that I would be requesting time off work anyways if we did lose the baby, so it would be easier if my boss knew now instead of having to tell her the entire story. Thank you for your perspective :) And yes, Jamie, it would be nice for everyone to know this belly is…

This is exactly what I needed to read today - I thank you for taking the time to write it all out :)

They give me a pill an hour before my appointment so I am out of it the entire appointment...so root canals are easy to me :) I wake up a happy girl and no memory of the appointment!

I feel like we're in the same boat - I'm up 11 pounds and I'm only 10 weeks so I'm SUPER panicked. I'm only supposed to gain 25 for the entire pregnancy and I'm almost halfway to 25 only 1/4 of the way through. I'm trying to stay calm, but every time I step on the scale I get upset. Which leads to my question - how often…

I've been there - it takes control of your life just like any other addiction. I broke my addiction by keeping track of how many times a day and how many days until I got it down to once a week - if it's 10 times today, it's 9 tomorrow, and when you get down to 1 time per day, work on 6 days a week, 5 days, etc. You need…

ahhhh chicken...I can eat it if someone else cooked it, but raw chicken throws me for a LOOP right now!!

carbs and sugar...this week, specifically it's cheesecake, moose tracks ice cream, strawberries & cool whip, skittles, and grape soda. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

ditto :)

I am currently pregnant and cannot imagine why anyone would willingly want to take HCG :)
-
lou_ann - I'm so glad you and your baby are okay!! what a crazy few days, but you're right, seeing your healthy baby can make everything better.

welcome snowgrrl and congrats on feeling pretty well so far :) I think we're all afraid of weight gain and I'm glad we are all here for support! Update: I had my second ultrasound today (10 weeks) and everything looked great! Heading back in another 2 weeks for our first trimester screenings. After that, we won't see the…

Jacylnn - I haven't had any headaches, so I'm not sure :( But I hope you find something that can help you feel better! It sounds like how I felt when I gave up caffeine - afternoon headaches for days! As for the anxiety - is there anyone who is covered on your insurance that you could see? I see a counselor and she's not…

I have a Polar FT4 and it does NOT work in the water - I swim in a bromine pool, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Some people say their polar works in the pool, but mine never has. I know that's not helping much, but wanted you to know it doesn't work :)
-
I would still go to the pool and do a stretched out and easy workout - work on long strokes and stretching out, and that should set you up nicely for your swim on Monday. Best of luck! Edited to add - we have a group here called "Swimmers!" if you'd like to join!
-
Give it a try again breathing every 3rd stroke (not each side, but total). Alternating sides may help! You may also consider getting a snorkel so you don't have to breathe with your stroke if it always gives you headaches :)
-
this looks great! thanks for sharing :)

I think this is a great article! I do have to disagree, however, with the injury stuff...although many of my injuries were caused by cross training (weights and running, mainly), alot of us had overuse injuries (rotator cuffs especially). I think people also tend to go too far too fast at times and end up with similar type…

benefits - low-inpact, entire body workout equipment - my favorite goggles are speedo vanquisher, and I always wear a cap (prefer silicone so it doesn't pull my hair out). my favorite suits are polyster, as they don't get see-through in the butt and last until the elastic dies. that's all you NEED - but I'm an equipment…
