  • Exactly why I switched to plain greek yogurt (plus all the extra protein)! Will have to try the Mio...sounds good.
  • I like the C210K....I use it when I'm not training for a half or any particular distance. I mix it up too. In the beginning I think you run for 30 seconds and walk for 4:30 minutes. If I'm feeling good I may do a slow jog and then pick up speed for the 'run' time. Also, if you are on a treadmill you can play with the…
  • I've had Mirena for about 3 years now and never noticed a difference weight-wise. In fact, I'm 20lbs (or more) lighter than when it was first put in. I do agree with BCAcheerleading that everyone reacts differently so you should do what is best for you...you know your body best. I have read articles and studies regarding…
  • I sometimes use a FlatOut bread (the light is about 70-90 cals per piece) and make an individual pizza...my 5 year old loves it as he gets to make his own. Have you checked the Kraft Foods website. They have a nice healthy living section with some good recipes which includes the nutritional breakdown.
  • I haven't done p90x but I've done Insanity. I would not attempt Insanity if I hadn't been in fairly good shape...I still huffed and puffed. I don't want to deter you from stretching yourself but I don't want you to start something and get discouraged. Maybe start with the 30 day shred (uses intervals as well) and slowly…
  • I'm not sure what type of stretches you do but they are helpful. Maybe take a few days off and do some yoga/pilates instead to get stretched out. I use a foam roller (can get them at any of the big chain stores or online) and it is helpful. Since I mainly run stretching those hip flexors is a must. Sometimes the soreness…
  • Any chance on getting something (treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical) at home? I have a tv set up with my treadmill so I can watch all the good dvr stuff. I didn't get anything fancy and was able to keep my purchase under $500. It does what I need it to do and I've had it over a year with no probs.
  • I think it varies on the k-cup. For the straight up coffee kind I've found they are usually around 5 cals or so. The special (mocha, etc) cups usually have the breakdown on the box. Here is a link from Green Mountain regarding their k-cups. Hope this helps: http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/nutrition.aspx?ck=1
  • One ingredient ice cream. Take a ripe banana and chop it up. Put it on a plate or small container and pop in the freezer until frozen (about an hour or so). All you really need to do from there is pop it in a food processor but you can add in whatever you like....I do 1T peanut butter. You can do honey, other fruit, mini…
  • Depends on the workout. Insanity or treadmill then yes. Everything else no. I say if it works for you then go for it.
  • What about fish? I'm trying to incorporate more into our diet as well. Also, our local market will offer buffalo which is lean and very good. A nice alternative sometimes.
  • Another nod to Target. Reasonable prices and a nice missy selection.
  • If I'm doing the math correctly that is about 16lbs??? I'm 5' 2" and weigh about 2lbs more than you...I do cardio and have started to include weight training. 16lbs would be WAY too heavy for me. I am at a 5lb kettlebell now and with some exercises I know I could go up in weight. The important thing is not that you can…
  • A while back I finished the Couch to 10K program and really liked it. I'm trying to increase my pace so I've dusted it off and do my warm-up as usual but do a sprint when it tells me to run and drop down to my regular pace when it tells me to walk. It is something to help break up my workouts and I need structure so it…
  • If I'm hungry I eat them back...if not I don't force it. I just try to make sure I'm making healthier choices and getting all the good stuff (well most of the good stuff) my body needs.

  • Some places offer popcorn without all the butter or you could make your own trail mix. We generally don't go to the movies that often so I splurge a little.
  • I think cardio is key...so do whatever you enjoy that gets your heartrate up. I wasn't a fan of running at first but have grown to love it! I started walking and eventually incorporated running. Good luck!
  • I think everyone has been where you are at one point or another. It is all part of the journey. I know it can be frustrating not to see those results on the scale but when this happens to me I try to focus on non-scale positives. I have more energy, I sleep better, I'm generally happier and so on. Is there one thing you…
  • I say as long as your body is agreeable then go right ahead but don't forget to crosstrain with strength training and other cardio. Both of which will also help your running. Rest days are important so make sure you take the time when you need it. Good luck and keep up the good work!
  • I don't know that I think these programs are so much better for you...I say if something motivates you to get moving then it is a good thing. I've gotten halfway thru Insanity and it is intense. Is it something I can do regularly for the rest of my life...no. I will (and do) incorporate the dvd's into my life/workouts. I…
  • Have you considered protein smoothie/shakes? I've read where people put all kinds of healthy stuff in them...spinach, fruit, greek yogurt, etc...
  • Yes and no...in my opinion. I'm down about 18lbs and I think my husband responds more to my improved self confidence than to my appearance.
  • I'd also suggest C25K and repeat whenever you want. I repeat just to change up a regular routine or if I'm not 'feeling' it. Have you ever considered doing something like swimming or water aerobics? Much less stress on the joints which might put you (and your body) in a better position for something higher impact. How…
  • Hands down Bolthouse ceasar (and ranch) are the best I've found. Both are yogurt based and I find them either at Whole Foods or in the produce section (refrigerated) of my local grocery store. The ceasar is about 80 cals for 2T and the ranch is somewhere around 60-70 for 2T. They are a little more expensive but worth it to…
  • Double check what you've entered. Sometimes I accidently enter 2 servings or goof up like that...if all is correct then I wouldn't beat yourself up too much. Been there and done that...tomorrow is a new day!
  • Can you run early morning or later in the evening? Active.com usually has some good tips on running. Living in MI...if I can run in the am on hot days....I hit the treadmill...not always fun but I know I will talk myself out of it if it is too hot.
  • Would you happen to be anemic? I used to take an iron supplement and remember being so tired. Eating well and keeping active has really helped and I no longer take the supplement. There are days I still feel a little sluggish and try to eat lean beef or other foods high in iron. I think being dehydrated can also slow you…
  • It's funny how...now that I'm not used to eating/drinking certain foods...when I do 'indulge' or give in my body is the first to say..."Oh, no you didn't!" My splurge wasn't Mexican but I just couldn't say no to the philly cheese steak (bad, I know) yesterday. It was very yummy but I didn't even make it out of the…
  • I love my Polar HRM but a good friend has (and loves) her BodyBugg which is a little more involved than the HRM. You'd wear it 24/7.
  • I was never well-endowed and sadly even less so after my weight loss....so after a baby, breastfeeding and weight loss...the girls need all the help they can get. I have several VS sports bras which I LOVE! I have bought the cheapies too and end up doubling them up to get the support. I would suggest trying one on for the…
