  • Hi, you can add me as a friend. I'm 48 and a married Mom of one 13 year old girl. I live in the U.S. but my husand is from the U.K. and I'm a bit of an anglophile and fluent in all things U.K.. LOL. I have rheumatoid arthritis but it seems to be in remission now (knock on wood- or touch wood as you'd say in the U.K.). I'm…
  • I'm very sorry to hear about your Mom. I'm taking care of my Mom and Dad now who are both quite sick. It does motivate me to see them be so sick with heart disease, diabetes, and COPD. It is really scary and makes me want to take care of myself. So, I relate to you wanting to avoid some of the medical issues your Mom…
  • I'd love to have more friends so we can help keep each other motivated. I'm trying to lose weight gradually so I don't have to starve myself. That's my plan!!!!

  • I agree, 1200 calories is setting yourself up for failure. I've had good luck with 1500 - 1600 calories per day when I was in my 20's. Pace yourself my friend!
  • Also make sure you aren't doing too much of a calorie deficit, just enough for it to be sustainable but not so big a calorie deficit that you start eating your own arm! LOL.
  • That happened to me. I had a nice streak going and then traveled east and was in a different time zone. I logged in just after midnight to log my day's activities (although it was much earlier in my time zone at home) and lost my streak! I was so bummed that I slunked off and stopped calorie counting and have since gained…
  • I get migraines related to hormones. Lately they've gotten better and more mild as I approach menopause (something to look forward to!!!). I usually wake up with it at about 5 am and then I take Imitrex and Aleve. I have found that rubbing peppermint oil on my forehead really helps A LOT!!! I'm amazed but the cooling…

  • I have a Flex and I like it. I haven't had any problems with the clasp and it has never fallen off or gotten caught. I'm sure eventually it will, but I don't think that's unreasonable. WaterBunnie it kind of stung when you said people only wear it because they're fashion conscious and want to be seen wearing it!!!! Good…
  • You look incredible and happy and healthy and beautiful. Thank you for the encouragement. I really needed to hear it today and you've helped a lot!!!!
  • You look amazing and your results are really inspiring. I'm sure that took a lot of hard work and dedication!!!! Thank you for sharing!
  • Hi, I'm a working Mom with one 8 year old daughter. Please feel free to add me so we can help each other stay accountable and motivated!
  • Yeah, I'm worried about Xmas too. But it is good to try to predict challenges and come up with ways to deal with it in a healthy way. Can you go to a public library to use the computer? I like the idea of taking walks with your sister. Maybe you can use your cooking skills towards a healthier Christmas meal. With your Dad…
  • I'm just watching calories. But I find if I eat a lot of sugary things, I know that I use up my calories and still feel starving. So, while someday I'd like to be a little bit more cognizant of my fat intake, sodium intake, fiber intake.... now I'm just basically watching calories, but staying away from eating as many…
  • Great post. You can now "let yourself go" discover all the new experiences you can have with a healthier lifestyle. You can "gain" a lot as you lose. ;) I want to feel full of energy again. I'm one of those people who did "let myself go". I was always average, or slightly above average. But then I stopped exercising and…
  • I've also had this quick weight loss 4.4 lbs in just about 5 days. I'm starting to wonder if my scale is broken, because usually I have to fight tooth and nail for every 10th of a pound. But, I am very pleased about it none the less. I just want to not get frustrated when this water weight (or whatever it is) stops…
  • I'm a size 16 and starting to bust out of those. ARGH! I'm talking American sizes. My husband is from England and we go back there every year to visit his Mum, and I get a rude awakening at the sizes there since they haven't changed them to make clothes sell better. I would be so happy to be back in a size 12!!!!!!!
  • I have exactly the same thing. It is just so slow to lose weight and so much hard work!!!! I'm promising myself that I will count calories for 5 days. I'm not thinking about weight, I'm just thinking 5 days. And then I will try to do another 5 days. Sort of like 1 day at a time... but 5 days at a time. ;) brettkeogh- your…
