I am 5'9. Currently weigh 161, Goal weight 150. In college I was a rower and weighed 163,but looking back at photos I was kind of chunky. Now I am 42, a mother, and I was 150 for several years, and due to some new thyroid medicine I started on, last year I gained 10 lbs and it's been very hard to lose. But I am trying hard…

I want to make both of these!

Hi, I don't really have credentials in food. I just like to cook and eat! I am 42, married, a mother of two. I usually use cooking light recipies, but I also like cooks illustrated. I tend toward the simpler end of things since I work as well as cook dinner, but I love finding easy, good recipies based on real ingredients.…

42 here. Gained 10 lbs on anti thryroid medicine and have been struggling to lose it for a while. I get easily frustrated because of my impatient nature and then give up.... .Hoping this time to give it one more solid try. Married, 2 kids (7 and 9), working mom. I swim, bike and run. I eat healthy foods but my downfall is…

I love to cook, and when I got married registerd for all clad. I hate it for diet cooking. It's not non stick so you have to use oil, and its a pain to clean. For healthy cooking I prefer my non stick cheapo (Rachel Ray green handle is my current favorite) pans because they are non stick. And if they get gross after 3…

I am actually hyperthyroid (for now) although the medicine gives me the effect of being hypo (gaining weight) and I may end up getting my thyroid zapped with radioactive iodine, which would make me hypo. I have Graves disease and joined MFP to lose the 10 lbs I gained on methimizole. Thankfuly my body responded pretty well…

Yesterday I cooked a spaghetti squash. Tonight I will add to it: chicken sausage, red pepper, asparagus, goat or parmesean cheese, fresh tomato and fresh basil. Insta dinner. Easy.

Helen thank you so much for doing this. I was in group 6, we sort of disbanded on the message board (but I did get a couple friends from there!). Would love other Mom friends to motivate me. I started on MFP at 158. Had started taking an anti thryroid medicine for my Graves Disease and gained 10 lbs from my usual 150 ish…

I am 42. My kids are 7 and 9. Struggling to lose 6 ish lbs to get down to 150. I am 5'9'' and when I got on anti thyroid meds promptly gained 10 lbs that are crazy sticky. They don't want to leave! I am pretty sporty -- I swim, bike and run (slowly, but consistently) and occasionally lift or do yoga.

Hi. Feel free to friend me if you want. I have Grave's disease and am hyperthyroid. Got on methimizole in January and promptly gained 10 lbs. It's been surprisingly sticky; difficult to lose. But my efforts have been intermittent as well. Hence my presence here.

So I made the greek yogurt cheesecake and it was really good. Had 4 families over to eat it so only the grown-ups got it (thought kids would not like cheesecake) but my kids had a bite each and wanted more!!

Great! Tonight I made a salad with arugula, fresh corn, fuji apples, and shrimp. Used this orange muscat champagne vinegar which is delicious. I know... its a salad. But it was good. Also ate a piece of whole wheat bread with goat cheese and am waiting for sweet potato fries to finish cooking. I am 42 SW 160 GW 150 I have…

I am on methimizole for Graves disease. I still have my thyroid, it was over-producing and the methimizole stops that from happening. After getting on that medicine, I gained 10 lbs super quick and after repeated efforts to lose it am seriously tracking calories and exercise on here now. It does seem MUCH harder to lose…

Thanks for getting us started. I am trying to lose 10 lbs so my clothes will fit once again! I have two darling kids, ages 7 and 9. I was recently diagnosed with Graves disease, an autoimmune thyroid disorder. Once on the medicine, I felt better but also quickly gained 10 lbs! I think my metabolism was high before and now…

I have graves disease -- just diagnosed in November 2010. Started on methimizole in January. Gained 10 lbs. Giving myself several months to try to lose the weight has not worked, so I am back to calorie counting and just joined this site to do so. My MD recommended it actually. I do feel better on the medicine, and I sleep…

Thanks! Go group 6! Was 1 lb down today and swam for 45 mins. Have eaten healthy breakfast and lunches and am avoiding mid afternoon snacking with tea instead.
