  • KaylaJane11 thank you!! very helpful
  • I have never had sleep problems but since going low carb have also awakened at 3 or 4 am wide awake. When hubby is traveling, I will try a meditation app (Calm it's called) or read. I just bought magnesium to try tonight. I feel okay during the day but come 7:30 or 8 pm I'm absolutely exhausted. I thought it was just pre…
  • I'm hyper. I've got Graves disease. I was on methimizole for a year or two and am now in remission. As long as my levels stay okay, I'm not taking anything!
  • pb 2 (I buy it on line it's powdered peanut butter with less fat and calories. I mix mine with non fat plain greek yogurt and it tastes great and is high protein.)
  • I used to drink 4-8 cans of diet coke a day. It was the first thing I drank in the morning. I love, love, love it. Had one in my hands at most times of the day. Stocked my mini fridge at the office with it. You know the type. Got horrible headaches when I quit, for the first week. I also gave up added sugar. After I got…
  • I have Graves disease. Was not advised to restrict exercise, and kept up with it. When I was on the methimizole I gained 10 lbs and COULD NOT LOSE IT. Was eating 1500 cals a day and gaining. Now I'm in remission and can eat 2000 cals a day plus and lose. I gave up most sugar which helped a lot. I don't think it was because…
  • I looked at your diary and didn't notice many fruits or vegetables. Maybe trying to eat more fresh foods would change things somewhat?
  • I would overeat on sweets and so I gave up sweets and added sugar or artificial sweeteners (kept eating fruit or salad dressings with sugar in it, etc. but no cookies, candy, diet coke) and my cravings have diminished substantially. Every once in a while I will eat something sweet (eg a corn bread muffin) and then I do…
  • nonfat greek yogurt (strained of all liquid) plus brown sugar and vanilla
  • I only input 1/3 of the time I spend exercising to MFP because of this. Otherwise I don't lose or even gain. I think my thyroid slowed metabolism (and maybe my age -- 45) means I don't burn as many calories for my exercise as MFP says.
  • I put conditioner on before my swim cap.
  • Greek yogurt with pb 2 and a banana. Cottage cheese. Hard boiled egg. chicken breast
  • I gave up added sugar and artificial sweeteners in January of this year and it helped me lose weight and not overeat. I don't eat sweets or pastries or artificial sweeteners, but I will eat products that have sugar in them (fruit, pasta sauce, salad dressing, dairy, etc.) What I've noticed is that the more sweet things I…
  • Well first of all you've lost 79 pounds so congratulations. I used to binge overeat until I gave up sugar and added sweets. I gave them up on New Years of this year and didn't eat anything sweet until this weekend when for my birthday celebration I ate 2 muffins and a piece of cake at my birthday brunch, and the day…
  • I gave up added sugar and sweeteners (no sweets and no diet coke) but not fruit or sugar in milks nonfat plain yogurt, etc in January and it's been great. The first couple days were hard -- I would eat more protein or just eat fruit in nonfat Fage yogurt to taste something sweet. But it's helped me. I no longer have the…
  • I'm not yet on maintenance but I find that MFP totally overestimates the amount I can eat. What I am doing now is only inputting 1/3 of the exercise I do. So if I work out 60 minutes, hard, I log 20 minutes, easy. I've been losing (slowly) but I do find the same thing -- if I eat one big meal then I can easily gain 2 lbs,…
  • When I first got diagnosed with Graves disease, I was on methimizole, gained 10 lbs and COULD NOT lose it. After 18 months or so on it, I stopped taking it and am now in remission. At first, I could eat more and maintain my (higher) weight. Then in January I gave up sugar and artificial sweeteners and now I am (SLOWLY)…
  • I gave up sugar and other added sweeteners (I eat fruit and even salad dressing and other food that has sugar in it, just not sweets or diet soda or added sweeteners) for New Years. I feel way better -- don't get tired in the afternoon. Also I no longer get as hungry. And after the first week, I lost the craving for it.…
  • Good for you. I've tried multiple times to give up Diet Coke, and previously failed. I think, for me at least, the diet coke made me crave more sugar. And when I couldn't drink a diet coke at 3 pm, I'd have a cookie. For new years, I gave up all added sweeteners, -- diet coke and added sugar. And this is the first time I…
  • I have Graves. When I got on the methimizole I gained weight. I was on it for over 18 months. Now I'm one month off it and (so far) in remission. I've gone down from 164 high to 158 now. Finally losing the weight.
  • Cut up granny smith or fuji apples and pan fry them with a little bit of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. It's like the inside of apple pie. If you want to get really decadent, add whipped cream. To lower calories, omit butter and use Pam. You don't need much brown sugar, it melts.
  • I also have Graves and am also on methimizole. When I first started taking it I gained 10 lbs in just a few months. Then I got on a lower dose (5 mg) and my levels were okay but I was having a terrible time losing the 10 lbs and I even gained 7 more. Just recently, since my levels were in the normal range, I got permission…
  • pb 2 is peanut butter powder -- yummy
  • I also use www.swimoutlet.com and have gotten good service. Also for suits, fewer options but good prices at Sierra Trading Post.
  • I rowed in college. I am now in my 40's so it's been a while. One thing that was hard for me was adjusting my definition of a workout -- whereas I used to think that 40 minutes wasn't worth it (why bother if you didn't have at least 90 mins), as I get older I have learned that 40 or even 30 minutes is better than nothing.…
  • To log all week, everything I eat. To stay under 2000 calories.
  • Hmm. As far as lifelong diseases go, Graves isn't that bad. As long as you take your meds (or get thyroid zapped and take different meds) you are probably on the whole fine. I was pretty bummed about it at first because I thought of myself as so young and healthy and here was evidence that I wasn't really. But what a nice…
  • Hi. On Corporette I am Lobbyist. I don't post there all that often. Trying to lose at least 5 lbs, 10 would be better. I have Graves disease and the medicine had me gain weight pretty quickly, but only 10 lbs, and its been SUPER hard to lose. I did lose about 5 lbs and stay there when I was tracking everything. But then I…
  • Bring cucumbers (thinly sliced and cold, so they are crunchy and good, lighty salted) and hummus? Bring really good chewing gum? Good luck.
  • I recently made cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes and they were runny and thin, but good: 1/2 c oats 1/2 c cottage cheese 3 egg whites a bit of sugar and cinnamon blend all ingredients then cook as pancakes. High protein. For my kids, I make a healthier pancake recipie too 2 c flour (half white, half wheat, or 1/2 c white, 1…
