  • A different kind of tuna salad: I mix tuna with whole wheat cous cous, feta, diced tomato, a bit of olive oil, a splash of lemon juice (if I have lemons), fresh ground black pepper, red pepper flakes. To keep it from being too dry, I don't drain the tuna completely (packed in water of course). I think you can also try this…
  • Ha ha ha! I love it!! My chunky monkey hubby totally looks skinny in his motorcycle jacket, what with the padding on the shoulders and all and cinched in waist. Then he takes it off and you see the gut... LOL! Funny though, my motorcycle jacket doesn't do the same for me.
  • Hi Caroline I'm not Danish but just wanted to say hello and welcome to MFP. I hope you find some people near you for support. Good luck!
  • I'm here to lose baby weight and then some. My youngest is 9 months and oldest is almost 3 years. I breastfed for a little over 6 months and did lose most of my baby #2 weight (to the momma who's at 6 weeks, give it time, you'll lose baby weight by nursing). Now It's time to get serious and lose the weight still hanging…
  • I'm no expert but my gut tells me to just drink your normal amount of water for today and leave yesterday behind you. You don't want to drink too much water. One "bad" day will not break your progress!
  • Hi there, The 1200 calories already puts you at a deficit (ie if that's all you eat and do no exercise at all, you'll lose weight). MFP figures out a base rate of calories you burn daily based on the activity level you give them when you sign up. 1200 calories is the absolute minimum you should eat in order to lose (most…
  • Can anyone tell me how many calories I burned reading this thread and laughing so hard it hurt?? My favorite has to be when people write in with a question about eating exercise calories and then vehemently disagree with anyone who tries to talk sense to them. Clearly they were just looking for justification to…
  • I'm basically going to echo what everyone is saying, but I want to offer my support too. You can do this, just take it slow. Definitely watch your portions and you'll be OK. If you try to find balance in your diet, you'll be able to work in your favorite treats. There are so many fruits and vegetables out there that if you…
  • Welcome and good for you for taking the step to a healthier you. You'll find a lot of support here. You'll never feel like you're doing this alone!
  • Just be careful as your body does not distinguish between sugar from fruit and sugar from candy... so while it;s definitely better to get your sugar from fruit because of all the other good stuff you get (compared to empty candy calories) don't overdo it.

  • Father Ted ROCKS! I never get tired of it :D
  • The first ones shorten your legs. Nude is in right now and the last ones are a safe bet. I think both look good. However, I'd love to see some color, maybe a peep toe? Unless you're looking to wear what you already own. The dress looks great and how sweet of your hubs to keep it!
  • I was there yesterday after baby was up most of the night teething (and continued to fuss most of the day while his big sister bounced off the walls). I was too tired to exercise though! Food will sustain you. The exercise might be adding to your tiredness as your body hasn't had a chance to restore itself from the…
  • I find cup measurements for veggies so frustrating! I just weighed a big potato (3 by 5 inches) and it weighed 338g /12 oz. Not sure what measurement you use. I also measured my cup measuring cup and it's about 3 inches wide and 1.75 deep. I filled it with water and it took 2 cups to fill a standard coffee mug (not one of…

  • I would say it's better to go over on a complex carb than a simple carb. simple carbs will cause a sugar spike. complex carbs stay in your system longer and help regulate your sugar levels (in very basic terms). Also your body doesn't distinguish where your sugar comes from, candy, straight from the sugar bowl, or from…
  • The previous owner of our house had passed away and the house was vacant for 2 years before we bought it. The previous owner had been an elderly lady who loved her garden but after 2 years (or more as she had been in poor health) of not being tended the garden was badly overgrown and needed a lot of work. One weekend our…
  • I used fertility friend (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/) when we were TTC. It has mobile access and an iphone app. I just used the online version so I can't comment on the iphone app.
  • I'm hoping this worked. The black kittie is Rose, the grey one is Hazel. We found them under our rose bush when they were just a few days old.

  • I worked in schools for years and I know exactly what you mean. Hang in there and stay true to your goals. You'll be the last one laughing at the last meeting of the school year when you're skinny and healthy and everyone who gorged on free breakfasts all year have muffin tops hanging over their waistbands!
  • I totally hear you. I'm working out on a budget too. How about filling up milk or juice bottles with water or sand or beans? Then you'll have something with a handle. I guess even 12-16 oz water bottles would work for lighter weights and you'll still have something to grab on to since many of them are sort of an hourglass…

  • Oh and coconut water is probably the best natural option. I've seen it at my local grocery store and at Costco.
  • O water is great too. Lots of different flavors (but off the top of my head I can't remember if they're artificially flavored). You can get it at regular grocery stores.
  • Ooh, I've been wondering about the 30 day Shred since so many people write about it. Good to know it's on demand so I can check it out! Thanks for the tip! Also didn't know about the cold water thing. I sprinkle red pepper flakes on most food to increase metabolism or burn more calories or whatever it's supposed to do. Not…
  • I eat Pepperidge Farms lite style wheat bread every day (45 cal per slice) and I'm losing about 1 lb per week. You should read your bread's label and make sure whole wheat is your first ingredient. If it starts off with enriched flour, you might as well eat white bread. Many whole grain breads also have a lot of added…
  • You're in a tough spot. My hubby has been similar, though not quite to that extreme. Still he would drink a few beers a night and was "not hungry" at dinner time. But a few hours later he'd open up a bag of chips or make a sandwich (while the leftovers were sitting in the fridge). Then he'd complain about being tired.…
  • Congrats you on your weight loss so far! And don't feel sorry! You have very valid concerns. And I know the feeling of wanting it now when you make the decision to have another baby. Have you talked to your OB about this? You'll definitely have an easier pregnancy if you lose some weight first though and fewer risk factors…
  • I've been feeling nausea immediately after exercising (started on this road about 4 weeks ago). Not sure if I'm working too hard or what. Since I exercise a couple of hours after breakfast I wonder if it puts me into a calorie deficit and my body is reacting to that. I'm looking into pre and post work out snacks to…
  • From what I've read on the posts if your body has been in starvation mode, and you up your calories at first your weight will go up (I know, bummer). But if you stick with it, the weight will start to come off again. It can take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust. Don't give up yet. And eat healthy calories like…
