I found quitting actually helped my weight loss go faster because I could BREATHE when exercising! Within a week you will be able to breathe better and exercising will get easier and who doesn't want that?!

I'm 5'6" and weigh 155 currently. I definitely can afford to lose another 10-15 pounds, but I think it depends entirely on how your body is shaped. I carry all my extra weight in the middle, so in order to lose my belly I have to get closer to 140-145. Though it depends a lot on how in shape you are. This is me at 145 or…

I have a 9 month old currently and I found my weight refused to budge until around the 4 month mark. I also found 1800 was tha magical number for me, though I was not exclusively breastfeeding, he got a couple bottles of formula a day. I would recommend concentrating on healthy eating, until the 3-4 month mark, then start…

You look awesome! What an accomplishment! Congrats!

Thank you everyone for the fantastic replies. This was just the motivation I needed to stay on track with lifting! One more question, how long does the water retention usually last? I typically have DOMS for a day or two after lifting.

Thanks!

I ate about 1800-1900 cals a day, usually with one day a week closer to 2000-2100 and lost about 1.5/week while breastfeeding. It took me a few weeks to figure out my perfect balance though. Good luck and congrats on your little one!

Thanks for all the great replies!

Yes, this is my first baby! :) NROL4W = New Rules of Lifting for Women. I haven't actually read the book yet, but I've heard great things about the program! I've added both of you

I can use all the motivation I can get! I requested you :)

I just ordered the book and would like to join too! I know absolutely NOTHING about lifting, so I could really use some friends!

In my personal experience I found it best to eat back SOME (but usually not all) of my exercise calories IF I feel hungry. You don't HAVE to eat those calories, but I'm usually hungrier after a good workout and appreciate the extra calories. Just keep at it and you WILL be successful!

Congrats! I'm also a breastfeeding momma to a 5 month old! I was disappointed to not magically lose weight at first. I kept wondering when the pounds would magically melt off from breastfeeding. Once I started logging daily I realized I was eating A TON! Any chance you would be willing to post photos of your success? Also,…

I had my first baby 4 1/2 months ago and lost 24 pounds in the first couple of weeks post-birth. Too bad I gained 46 while prego! I have lost ten since I got serious on MFP, about 2 months ago. I'm breastfeeding as well, though my kid gets some formula too. I found eating below 1700 affected my milk supply and I lose LESS…

I had my first baby on June 24th, trying to shed that baby weight! I'm breastfeeding as well, so that is an added challenge! Feel free to add me :)

I say you can easily pass for early 30's. (I took a peak at your profile afterwards to see how close I was!) You look great and give this new mom hope that I can get my shape back too! :)

You look GREAT! Congrats!

You can really see a difference in your face and tummy, good job!! What have you been doing to lose weight?

I'm a new mom as well. I had my son in June and just this month finally started trying to shed the weight. I gained 46 pounds while pregnant, lost 23 of it right away and now I'm busting *kitten* trying to lose the last 23! I've been doing the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred for the last two weeks. It's great because it's…
