My favorite post run torture device. Yep, they work.

It's something I have been excited about every year for at least the last 7. This year though I am not doing it. They've taken away what it use to be. So many stores here (TN) will be opening at 8pm Thanksgiving night. I refuse. It's not worth the wait in lines for crap I don't need. This year my butt is sleeping in and…

I get a 2 wk schedule from my running coach every other Sunday. Unless something changes with my schedule like a race or sickness then it is possible I get a new schedule weekly but it's always for a 2 week period.

I'll be doing what I've done the last 4 years. Running/working out and eating in moderation.

Under Armour cold gear mock neck tops Sugoi sub/mid zero tights Nike running gloves I always wear something to cover my ears. If it is windy and well below freezing I wear a balaclava over my head/face. I also agree with layers so that you can shed if you get too warm.

BICbands. they don't slip, EVER and she donates a portion of the proceeds each month to charity. :)

Moving Comfort.

Sub 2 hour half marathon.

I agree with this and have found it to be true with my training. Running more is what my coach has me doing and I have noticed much faster paces out of myself in just the 5 weeks I have been running more.

Zicam, Airborne and rest. Also my coach stresses diet.. as in still making sure you are getting the nutrition you need to help your body fight whatever it is you are dealing with.

I love Sugoi mid zero tights. They're a thermal fleece lined tight. They have a leg grip rather than zippers at the ankle like Nike. I like that feature as they don't ride up nor do I have to deal with the zipper causing issues on my heel. I've worn them in below freezing temps and snow and they're great. They have flat…

Bondiband has some nice hats w/ponytail slot. I use an UnderArmour headband/ear warmer for cold running most of the time, which works well with a ponytail. UA and Nike also have winter running hats w/ponytail slot. Nike also makes some nice cold weather running gloves. the ones I wear do not have the tech finger thing but…

I'm 5'3. Started at 238-240ish or better and I am currently down about 90 lbs total. My pics are in my profile.

BodyGlide!

The only activity I DO log is running or whatever I do in the gym. The rest of it: cleaning, sitting, standing, or walking around an amusement park/mall just doesn't count.

I started with Couch to 5k. Then I met local runners and joined a local running group. Somewhere along the way I feel completely in love with running.

Swimming!

I learned the hard way how important proper rest days are. I over trained myself into an injury.
-
Try a program like Couch to 5k. Start slowly and build up.

Thanks. All on my own.

^^agreed. Just stating that it isn't all bad and that there are options out there for some of the reasons that have been given as to why people don't run.

Moving Comfort makes excellent running bras for bigger chested girls. Supportive and the girls stay in place.

 Thank you! There are plenty of 50 and overs in my running group who have been running since they were kids and none of them have knee problems (or any other issues).
-
I started running (slowly) at 245 lbs. 3 years later I've lost 90 lbs (up a few due to an injury that happened during my spring marathon). For some of you with shin/knee/leg/back pain the simple solution may be a proper shoe fitting! That can be easily done at a specially running store.

Bogus. I'd hire a new trainer. http://rwdaily.runnersworld.com/2012/02/no-running-does-not-ruin-your-knees.html I run and see no reason or excuse (better word) to not run.

Agreed.

But these are the kinds of calories we should be feeding our bodies. Sure bananas are high in calories but a banana is a better snack than a Hostess cake, ice cream, etc. If I log it, I am never shocked at how "bad" it is or how high the calorie count is. I know beforehand. I look at labels. Fastfood doesn't shock me…

Hang in there. Take it day by day and make small changes. Eventually those little changes will pay off and become routine for you!

This, always.
