My goals for 2013 were - PR all distances (done) and run my 2nd marathon (done, 19 days ago). 2014 goals - sub 2 hr half marathon #3

How far depends on the workout for the day. I have a coach so he makes my schedule. I've been running for 5+ yrs. Total mileage for the year is around 1400 so far.

Congrats!!! I ran my first last yr and said I'd never run another. Finished my 2nd one earlier this month and am already planning #3. Addicted!
-
Finished my 2nd marathon on 11/2 - Indy Monumental full in 4:35:39 good enough for a 23 minute marathon PR but 10 minutes slower (thanks to a couple of port-a-potty stops) than my goal for the race.

I run 5 days a week and usually log 30+ miles a week (when healthy).
-
Keep your 12 mi run as is and if you feel the need for a long run the week before your half do an easy 8 miler. if you are buying the same shoe you should be able to get them now (next couple of days) and still be good for your race. I usually do not have to break in my running shoes. I stay in the same shoe.

I use to until I started wearing Moving Comfort bras.

Generally speaking our long training runs should typically be slower than our short runs and speed work runs. For instance, my overall comfortable pace (conversation pace is around a 9:45) however on my short runs/warmups before speed work I am usually around 9-9:30. Depending on the speed workout I am anywhere from…

I only have a key fob for my car and it fits securely in the pocket on any of my running pants/skirts. For ID I wear a RoadID on my wrist. I rarely carry my phone.

My advice is this... If this is your first full marathon do not set a goal time to finish. Your goals should be 1. have fun and 2. finish!

I participate in local 5ks and typically get free registration for volunteering with my club. The most I've paid for a 5k is around $35. The bigger races like Color Me Rad, Spartan, Zombie, etc don't appeal to me so I'm definitely not going to pay upwards of $75 to run 3.1 miles. Most 5ks don't have "swag" bags like the…

I got my "bad *kitten*" socks at www.proudrunner.com/products/bad-*kitten*-knee-sock

You have plenty of time to train for both the 15k and the half marathon. Be patient and go for it!

All of the above, plus a full marathon, Ragnar Relay (again, did one first of Jan) and a couple 10 mile races as well as 8ks and a 15k. I'll be running unless something awful happens and I have to walk.

This. I run 5-6 days a week depending on the schedule my coach writes up for me. Anytime I need to take a break due to being over tired or achy I am advised to do so. Rest days are worked into my plan.

My coach advises me to take a gel/Gu every 3/4 miles. I have noticed that I don't feel tired and ready to slow down towards the end of the race since using his method. I use to do chews but the gels are easier to take while still running (for me).

Just completed Ragnar Relay Keys. Next up- Calhouns 10 miler Knox, TN Strawberry Plains half - TN Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon 2 person relay, Knox, TN Flying Pig Marathon - Cinnci There will be other races this year including Ragnar Relay TN in the fall.

For me it was after I finished my first half marathon and began marathon training.

I'm not skinny yet and probably never will be. I still have about 15-20 to lose until i reach my goal. But wanted to say that the skin is usually the reason I feel horrible about myself most days. Until it's gone (from my stomach) I probably will never g et rid of the screwed up image I have of myself.

Saucony Ride 5/6

I don't have a lot of snow/ice to deal with. Lower temps I just layer up and go run.
-
I ran my first marathon (Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon) and my first Ragnar Relay (TN) this year. Both lots of fun! Ragnar is the best as far as "adventures" go for me. I'm adding Ragnar Key West to my race list for 2013. It's coming up in January!!

You have to change your outlook on food. All of those fatty foods you like won't fuel you properly if you ever want to run a marathon. Pre-plan and learn to eat for fuel. Go for good fats over bad. Know that those fatty foods aren't just high in calories and may not aide in weight loss but eaten in excess will lead to…

Any other runners feel free to add me. :)

I use to always always run with music but mostly because I was running alone or on the treadmill. Now that I run outside I tend to leave the music at home. I found with the music I was worrying more about how much I can't stand this song or that song or how it would mess with my pace which became frustrating during a run.…

I agree with more miles. I didn't believe that so much before but since working with a coach the last 8 weeks I firmly believe it. I've seen a good deal of pace increase in myself since adding more miles. I also do striders at the end of my easy runs and according to my coach those (in addition to speed work) help…

Buckle. Pricier than most places BUT they hem for free so you get the perfect length for you!

Eat as much as you can within the first 30 minutes of completing your run. Whether you have a cup of chocolate milk or a peanut butter sandwich or protein recovery shake, your body will appreciate you feeding it to aid in recovery. As for eating before? Every runner is different. For me something like a bagel, english…

I've been running for about 3-4 yrs and have done anything from a 5k to a marathon. Half marathons are my favorite. I recently started working with a coach to help me reach some of my current running goals. Feel free to add me!

There are some great training plans on Jeff Galloway or Hal Higdon sites.
